Pompeii and Vesuvius
It was an amazing experience. Sarah escorted us on the bus the entire trip and she was knowledgeable in both history and Italian culture. Climbing to the Vesuvius crater was hard but soooo worth it. Pompeii ruins were fantastico. They are truly the window to history. Pizza lunch was amazing and the view overlooking the bay of Napoli while we ate was stunning.

If You’re Thinking About Booking This Day Trip, Just Do It!
If you’re in Rome and debating whether this day trip is worth it, just book it! I was initially on the fence because it’s a very long day, but I’m so glad I went. We departed Rome at 8:00 AM and didn’t return until around 10:30 PM, so definitely be prepared for a full-day experience. That said, it was wonderful to get out of Rome and see a completely different part of Italy, and I loved having City Wonders handle all of the transportation and logistics. Our guide, Patrizia, was amazing. She gave us the information we needed but also let us explore Positano and Sorrento on our own. She was organized, attentive and made sure no one was left behind. Our driver, Roberto, was excellent and navigated the winding roads like a pro! Both places were beautiful, with incredible scenery and great shops. I also loved the limoncello tasting. My biggest recommendation is to pack snacks and water. I got pretty hungry, and there weren’t many appetizing options at the rest stops. It’s a long day, but absolutely worth it. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Meeting place was easy to find. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and used to be an archaeologist. Learned so much about the coliseum and ancient times. Unfortunately our tour stopped with the coliseum because the weather was too stormy to continue. Still recommend

From the ruins of Pompeii and beaches of the Amalfi Coast, to Tivoli’s historic estates and medieval and Renaissance-era highlights of Tuscany, you’ll find plenty of worthwhile options to justify a day’s absence from Rome. In addition to choosing your day trip spot, you can pick the mode of transport that suits you best—train, private car, boat, or bike.
