This is a great experience, Pompei is amazing and so much to see. Our trip included a stop in Sorrento for lunch and a city walk. Sorrento is beautiful great little town. The lunch was just ok. Pompei tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered any question we had. The only negative about the experience is the Pompei tour is a bit rushed 1.5 hrs its go go go. John Paul was a great tour guide for this experience he is very knowledgeable and fun.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Hi John,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed Pompeii and found John Paul knowledgeable and fun—he’ll be thrilled to hear your feedback.
We’re also glad you enjoyed your stop in Sorrento and its charming streets. We note your comment on lunch—since meals aren’t included in the tour, we understand that experiences can vary depending on individual choices.
We appreciate your input about the pacing at Pompeii. The site is vast, so tours do move quickly to cover the main highlights, but your feedback helps us keep refining the experience for future guests.
We hope to welcome you on another tour soon!

The Pompeii guided tour was superb. The tour was conducted by a local guide who was formerly an archeologist. Her explanations were easy to understand, her english was very good and the audio headsets worked well.
Caution: The tour description says it goes along the Amalfi coast. In our case it didn't, it stopped short, in Sorrento. Sorrento is a lovely place, though, just not Amalfi. Also, the bus had a lot to be desired - the air conditioning was inconsistent; being a sight seeing tour, visibility was unsatisfactory, especially for those in the rear seat (4 passengers of which I was one) who had no windows at all, and certain row windows were obscured somewhat by curtains in the pillars between windows.

Both guides were excellent. The guide on the bus was very helpful and didn’t get upset when my husband had some difficulty walking. The guide at Pompeii was particularly knowledgeable on the subject was personable and very professional. Overall it was a great experience.

It's a long day, so wear your comfortable walking shoes. The trip as a whole was fantastic! Had a wonderful time! If you haven't seen Pompeii and you only have one day, this is the tour for you.
Jason_G, Sep 2025
The bus ride was comfortable. Vito was an awesome guide and very graceful with his knowledge of Pompeii.
The Amalfi part was kind of lacklaster. If someone were to go swimming or even just get down to the beach then they would miss the bus. There were no directions to get to the beach. I think it would've been helpful if directions were included to the beach on the the pamphlet with the restaurant recommendations.

Very bad direction given for meeting point. When checked on the link for google map it shows us to wait at McDonalds. We were there 30 mins before meeting time according to the email sent out by tour operator but it happened to be the wrong place. Tried calling and chatting with them … no reply’s or no answers over the phone. Made a very bad choice.
Response from Host, Aug 2025

This was fun! I mostly wanted to at least spend a little time in amalfi, but my family wanted history, so this was the perfect mix of two. Loved how we were lead around d Pompeii by an archaeologist and got to see the highlights instead of trying to figure out what to see on our own. Chiara was helpful in letting us know the schedule for the day and highlights in Sorrento.
Matthew_K, Aug 2025
My daughter wanted to see Pompeii as part of our trip to Italy and this tour did just that. It did go a little more swiftly than we would have liked, and would have enjoyed a bit more free time to explore. But our guide was very knowledgeable and did give us a great look around. We also got to see Sorrento which was an amazing little town. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Ben_T, Aug 2025
Nice Pompeii bus tour from Rome. Long drive and visited Sorrento as well. Both guides and bus driver are very good.
DawnMichelle_T, Aug 2025
Such an incredible day with great history and such beauty on the coast. Ideally more time in Sorrento would have been better but difficult with the distance from
Roma.
HOANG_P, Aug 2025
Pompeii an archeological site is amazing. It preserves the history of the Romans in time. Such a civilization and brilliants. A must visit for anyone interested in learning more about Roman history. The local guide for us was very thorough in explaining the history. After the walk through the archeology site, the sea coast drive was a treat. This part of the tour was too short to really enjoy the area but does give a flavor and initial guide for you to decide your next trip. Our tour manager, Mat, was nice and knowledgeable which makes the tour interesting. On our drive back, the van used did not have a good a/c and so it was very hot. So lucky that we had some rain which helps cool the drive back. Overall, a very deserving tour.

This was a great tour! Enrika was great and Pompeii was truly amazing! So glad we did this day trip!
Donna_J, Jul 2025
This company lies. I booked Positano, Almafi coast and Pompeii. One month before our tour, they emailed and asked if I would like to upgrade and also include Sorrento ( first lie ). It was instead of Postiano… NOT as well as. NOT an upgrade. My Replay was NO Thank you, I was excited to take my family to Positano and was the reason I booked this tour. They replied “no problem, your booking will remain the same”. We got on the bus and went to Pompeii and then the tour guide said we will be in Sorrento in an hour. I was devastated… I would have cancelled this trip and booked elsewhere… it was not what I wanted nor booked. When I asked for 1/2 of my money back they refused. Rather arrogant and rudely. I am angry because I would have cancelled and they took that decision away from me, by lying and saying it would be the same as I booked. DO NOT TRUST them .. Buyer beware!

We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand your disappointment. It's always our goal to provide our guests with memorable and enjoyable tours, and we regret that this was not the case for you.
We appreciate you sharing the details of what happened. While we do occasionally make adjustments to itineraries due to traffic, seasonal conditions, or logistical reasons — as noted in our terms and conditions to read before buying — we understand how upsetting it must have been when the destination you were most looking forward to was changed.
We also apologize if our communication around the proposed change caused confusion or led you to believe your original itinerary would remain untouched. That was certainly not our intention, and we regret that it impacted your experience so significantly.
Thank you again for your feedback — we take it seriously and will use it to improve our service moving forward.
Kind Regards

This was one of our favorite tours out of all the things we did during our time in Rome. Pompeii was our favorite and the guide we had was so knowledgeable. Definitely great to have an archeologist share their knowledge. We like Sorento but would have like to have more time there.
Evelyn_J, Jul 2025
My flight was cancelled from Amsterdam to Rome due to the weather, and it was obviously less than the 24 hours cancellation period, ALSO, the tour was booked less than 24 hours before the time of the tour. I was still denied a refund for the tour.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you for reaching out, Evelyn. I’m very sorry to hear about your flight cancellation and completely understand the stress caused by travel disruptions.
Due to the operational costs and arrangements involved, we must maintain a 24-hour cancellation policy, which is standard for experiences like ours. That said, we absolutely understand that unexpected situations arise, which is why we offer rescheduling options where possible.
Whilst we are unable to issue a refund in this instance, we would be happy to issue a ‘proof of no-show’ document to support a claim with your airline or travel insurance provider. If you’d like us to arrange this, please email us at feedback@walks.org with your booking details.
Wishing you smoother travels ahead.
All the best,
Samantha

It’s a great day to get some information about the past about what the people of Pompeii have gone thru due to the eruption of the volcano.
Angela_L, Jun 2025
We took this trip as a group, three of us.
A family with a baby also rode, and the baby was clearly experiencing some extreme distress- my daughter suffers from chronic headaches; that can often be debilitating- and when we reached out to the tour guide for options to get to Pompeii or even back to Rome (where the tour started) he informed us there were no options, that the baby could not sit in the front of the bus because of their insurance (which I could not understand, why could they not sit in the seats that were not directly up front, but still closer to the front, so the baby was less car sick?) and my daughter was welcome to leave the tour- and take a train back to Rome, on her own.
After enduring another hour and a half ride to Pompeii, and speaking with the mother of the baby myself, I was assured that the baby was only car sick, as the mother had no issues with her during the tour of the ruins.
My daughter could not endure the child's distress any more, got off the bus and attempted to take a train back to Rome.
Our tour guide not only failed to point her in the correct direction of the train station, but if she has not run into the tour guide from INSIDE Pompeii I don't know if she would have made it to our air bnb safely.
We have yet to be contacted with any kind of apology for their negligence, or any offer of a refund.
My daughter did not get to finish the last leg of the trip, where we had dinner on the Champange coast, nor did they check in to make sure she arrived into Rome safely.
This lack of care, and lack of responsibility for their paying guests is frankly shocking.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Dear Angela,
We’re truly sorry to hear about your distressing experience — no guest should ever feel unsafe, unsupported or abandoned whilst traveling with us. This account is deeply concerning and not reflective of the standard of care we expect from our team.

We urgently want to investigate this matter further to provide clarity and address the issues you’ve raised. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us directly at feedback@walks.org with your booking confirmation number and contact details.

Long travel day- be prepared to walk, and bring a hat or umbrella for shade. Antonella was a fantastic guide- friendly and energetic. Lots of knowledge.
Kristina_Y, Jun 2025
Flavia and our tour guide in Pompeii were excellent. Flavia was very knowledgeable about the areas that we saw on the way to Pompeii. The tour guide in Pompeii was excellent too. I would advise with this tour, is that, if you want to go to Positano, don't schedule for Sunday. We went on Sunday and went to Sorrento instead. I personally didn't mind, but others on the bus did. This would have been a 5 star if we had a minibus (as stated in the description). There was another tour and we chose this one, and paid a bit more, because we thought that we would be in a small group.
amely_r, Jun 2025
It’s a long day and I didn’t think it was worth it. The bus ride is most of the day! You don’t get enough time in the actual spots. There were two stops for ‘bathroom breaks’ and the place where the bus stopped was really sub-par’ I felt like I was in India or a poor Latin American country! With so many beautiful places to stop this place is clearly somewhere that the tour operator has a deal with the owner and it’s pathetic! The tour guide in Pompeii was great, friendly and knowledgeable, but you’re only there for tops 2 hours and then back on the bus and on to Positano. You have to switch to another bus before getting to Positano and this is understandable because the streets in Positano are very narrow! Would have loved to spend more time in Positano but again we had only 1 1/2 hours there and during this time you’re also supposed to have lunch! Obviously not enough time to see the town or shop! And then back on the bus for an+- 4 hour ride back to Rome. Sadly our main tour guide was not engaging and his commentary was boring and repetitive. Bottom line you spend 3 hours combined in the two places you visit and 9 hours on the bus! Do not recommend!

Hi Amely, Thank you for your feedback on the Pompeii, Positano & Amalfi Coast Day Trip. We're sorry to hear the experience didn’t meet your expectations. We understand the long travel time can be tiring, and we regret that the time at each destination felt too short.
While travel distances from Rome do limit time on-site, we’re reviewing your comments about the rest stops and guide commentary to help us improve.
We’re pleased you enjoyed the Pompeii guide and appreciate you highlighting their great service. Your input is valuable and helps us refine the experience for future guests.
Best regards,
Gerard

Well organized trip, Giannemaria was very pleasant and provided just the right amount of detail. We appreciated the restaurant recommendations in Sorrento.
Joanne_W, May 2025
This was not as advertised. We had only 1 hour in Pompeii. Our guide was rude and pushy. We drove mostly down the hiway for 4 hours each way , no talking from the guide
Response from Host, May 2025
Dear Joanne,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
We're truly sorry to hear that the tour didn’t meet your expectations, especially regarding the time spent in Pompeii and the behavior of the guide.
Our goal is to offer a well-paced and memorable experience, even on long day trips like this one from Rome.
We understand that the limited time in Pompeii and the lack of engagement during the drive fell short for you, and that’s not the standard we aim to provide.
We’re also concerned to hear about your interaction with the guide—courtesy and professionalism are core to our service, and we’re addressing this feedback with our local team.
We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention, and we’re reviewing both the itinerary and guide conduct to ensure we’re delivering the quality and experience our guests expect.
We never want our guests to leave feeling disappointed, and we’d like the opportunity to make this right. Please reach out to us directly at feedback@walks.org so we can follow up with you personally.
Thank you again for sharing your experience—it’s feedback like yours that helps us improve.
Warm regards,
Princess

This 13 hour day trip to Pompeii and Positano was wonderful. It was well organized. Our all-day guide Antonella was very knowledgeable and friendly.

While we were pleased with the tour, we wished it would have been a slower pace and perhaps extended an additional hour. The tour guide guide in Pompeii was excellent. All in all we had a good time.
Isabella_L, May 2025
The experience was amazing!! We got to see a lot in one day and our tour guide was so sweet and taught us a lot about italian culture and food and the places we visited.
Jeff_L, May 2025
Long bus ride, bring snacks.
Not much time to explore in Amalfi Coast and have lunch.
Overall, great experience
Nicole_L, May 2025
This is not truly a small group experience. It is a long bus ride with two groups, nearing 16 people. Cosimo, our guide, was fantastic. The Amalfi Coast was beautiful. Our Pompeii group leader was a bit aggressive. She covered a lot in 2 hours. On the other hand, we had to sacrifice beautiful pictures for information, as she very much rushed us. At times, she would not even allow us to stop for pictures
Beth_S, May 2025
Cosimo was a wonderful guide, he was knowledgeable, friendly and kept everyone well informed and entertained!
