Itinerary
Your day starts at Piazza del Popolo, where you board an air-conditioned coach for the roughly two-hour drive north from Rome to Civita di Bagnoregio—a medieval hilltop village perched on a plateau of volcanic rock. Getting here independently is a challenge, with no direct public transit to the bridge entrance, so having transport sorted in advance saves considerable hassle.
Cross the footbridge into the village and spend about two hours exploring its narrow streets, Etruscan caves, and enjoy panoramic views across the surrounding valleys.
From there, the coach continues into Tuscany for a three-course lunch and tasting of five wines—among them a Brunello di Montalcino, one of Italy's most prized reds—at a farmhouse and vineyard in the Montepulciano area.
The tour then heads to Orvieto for roughly two hours of free time. Built atop a sheer cliff of volcanic tufa, the town is home to a striking Gothic cathedral and a network of underground tunnels and caves beneath the streets.

Natasha was a fantastic guide! She was very nice, a wealth of information and she helped make it a memorable day. The highlight was 100% Civita di Bagnoregio, it was magical! I wanted to go to the city on my own but it was too difficult to navigate with public transportation, I’m glad I did the tour because I also got to see Orvieto. The lunch at the farmhouse was okay, I would have preferred time in Montepulciano instead of the lunch if that was an option.

Chiara, the guide, went beyond expectations, highly informative! Three regions in 1 day! Enough time to explore.
ASUNCION_R, Apr 2026
Chiara is a really nice guide, she knows a lot about the places and Italian history, she Will make you laugh!
This tour mixes walking with the guide plus going by yourself if you want to go around, so You have time to learn and visit everything place!

Bagnoregio is an absolutely amazing experience. Unlike anything else I have experienced. Orvieto is also a beautiful old town with a gorgeous cathedral and tower to climb and have spectacular views. The wine tasting would be the only thing I would change about this trip. Drive a decent distance for it, would rather eat local to the Umbrian towns and have more time in each place.

I’m extremely happy with this tour! The small town of Orvieto was picturesque and so many nice shops and scenery. The lunch was amazing in the Tuscan winery with a great host. The Bagnoregio town was charming and so beautiful. The tour was truly my favorite. Chiara our tour guide was so great and I loved all her stories!

This was probably the best trip we took in Italy. There was so much to see and do in one day. Walking thru all the cute villages and Eating and drinking wing at an authentic tuscan farm.
Kelly_S, Mar 2026
Excellent on all accounts…except for the winery we stopped at. Our tour guide was a 10 out of 10 and so were the stops! Comfortable bus. Lots of walking but stunning views. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the winery we stopped at. It was charming, family owned and decent lunch. The wines were OK. At the end we stopped to buy a bottle of wine, balsamic vinegar and 2 small local honeys. Only the honey’s had a price tag of 15 euro. Imagine her surprised when the total bill came to 214 euro! Mine was over €120 and the balsamic vinegar (small bottle) was 90 euro!! the same bottle of wine goes online for $30. I don’t understand why they felt the need to overcharge like that. Totally ruined the experience and really felt taken advantage of.

Hi Kelly,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour, especially the guide, the beautiful stops, and the comfortable transportation. Bagnoregio and Orvieto truly are stunning destinations, and we're glad these parts of the experience stood out.
We also appreciate you bringing your winery experience to our attention, we will certainly share your comments with them.
Thank you again for joining the tour and for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Love, love, love this tour! Sara, our tour guide, and Paulo, our driver, did an excellent job of getting us to the cities and providing interesting anecdotes along the way. Good variety of tour group time, on your own time, and breaks in between for shopping, lunch, wine tasting. Sara is a treasure trove of knowledge that is combined with humor to make the day perfect!

What a fabulous day!! So many beautiful site! We took so many pictures and I can’t stop talking about your tour. Thank you for a great experience!
Candace_M, Jan 2026
Cool stops. But rushed and sell sell sell to the tourists.. wine/lunch fast, no real tour, sips of wine w no information
Every stop cut short. Returned early to Rome.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Hi Candace_M,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We’re glad you enjoyed the stops, but we’re sorry to hear that the pace of the day felt rushed and that the wine and lunch experience didn’t meet your expectations.
Our goal is always to balance seeing multiple highlights with providing meaningful time and context at each location, and we regret that this was not your perceived experience.
Your comments about the tastings and overall pacing are very helpful, and we’ll be reviewing them with our team to improve the experience for future guests.

Promised to be marvellous but didn’t live up to expectation. Ovieto was lovely but we needed one and a half to 2 hours more. Lunch and wine tasting was tedious; several people asked for a glass or a bottle of wine with lunch but were refused. A short lunch break would be far better. Our guide, Fabrizio, and driver, Antonio were wonderful.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Hi Beverly_K,
Thank you for your feedback.
We’re happy to hear you enjoyed Orvieto and that Fabrizio and Antonio made the day enjoyable.
We’re sorry the time in Orvieto and the lunch experience didn’t meet expectations, especially regarding wine availability. We’ll review these points with our partners to improve the experience.
We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you again.

This is a great excursion. The bus is comfy but the drive is long. It is a great way to see both Oriveto and Bagnoreggio, two amazing hilltop towns, in one day. Orvieto’s Christmas Markets are in full swobg. Be prepared to walk a bit!
Jennifer_B, Nov 2025
The towns we visited were nice, but we weren’t overly impressed with the lunch or the stop at a giant touristy shopping store. The guide was not very helpful - don’t expect any kind of tour around the towns or anything, just about 60-90 minutes of free time to wander around.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Hello Jennifer_B
We’re very sorry to hear that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing it can be when parts of a tour feel less enjoyable than hoped.
This tour is designed exactly as described on the booking confirmation: guided transportation with free time in each town so guests can explore at their own pace, including time allotted for lunch and a brief stop along the route. We regret if this format didn’t align with what you were looking for or if it felt less guided than expected.
Thank you for sharing your feedback — it helps us continue improving the experience for future guests. If there’s anything else we can assist you with, we’re here to help.

A long day but so worth it! There is a fair amount of walking and steep hills to be prepared for. But I have done this tour twice, and would do it again! Lunch is fabulous! Don't miss this tour.
LEYLA_P, Nov 2025
Well organized, comfortable coach and easy to get to meeting place by the metro. Guide and driver very good. The destinations are beautiful and historic. Unfortunately, the wine and food tasting lunch was mediocre.
Marcia_B, Nov 2025
Our guide had so much local information to share that made our trip so great. I would recommend this trip to anyone.
Beverly_I, Oct 2025
Get the groups onto the buses faster at piazza di Popolo, it was an hour of wasted time getting in long lines and getting sorted out.
lindsay_o, Oct 2025
Natalia was our tour guide and was great. She was very knowledgeable and kept the group together so no one would miss out on anything. We had a very nice lunch at the winery. Definitely would recommend this tour.
Stephanie_S, Oct 2025
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Rome, this trip is a must. Our guide, NATASCIA, was amazing. She talked just the right amount and was very passionate about her job. She also gave us lots of tips and tricks about staying safe in Rome. I appreciated that.
Just remember it does take all day (12hours) and there is lots of walking. Personally, I love the hills, the stairs. The only thing I would change, is the restaurant and winery where we ate. The food was not good. There were a lot of flies in the restaurant. The spaghetti was terrible. Make sure to bring some protein bars or a sandwich in your backpack. You’ll also need coins for the bathrooms. The winery beneath the restaurant was really interesting.
I have the best pictures from this trip.
Evgeniya_M, Sep 2025
Loved both cities that we visited, comfortable bus, great, very helpful guide Samih. The downside of the trip was the winery - way too commercialized, too much crowded (there were many other tours at the same time), wasn't impressed with wine or food offered, very brief explanation of wines and pairing before starting the tasting. Wouldn't go back to the winery, but the cities are worth visiting
Matthew_R, Sep 2025
It was an amazing experience, we got to visit a 12th Century family owned winery where we got an amazing lunch and did some wine tasting. They treated us very well and Bagnoregio was some of the most beautiful Italian countryside. Our guide Sammy did a great job taking care of us as well.
Jeffrey_N, Sep 2025
Fantastic day travel to small perfectly preserved Medieval Etruscan towns with wine tasting and great lunch with homemade pasta. Full day. Well worth the price!! Bellissimo!!
Ana_M, Sep 2025
The tour was excellent, the driver was fantastic. A caveat: CIVITA is only for the fit and people who do not have leg issues! Gorgeous anyway!
Simone_G, Aug 2025
It was absolutely great! Our guide Natasha was superb! Very Knolodgeble and very nice. Our driver also was very good.
Robert_W, Aug 2025
Best tour we experienced in the 5 days we’ve been here so far. Barbara is a phenomenal guide! Fantastic personality, extremely knowledgeable and made us all feel like family. Antonio, our driver, was nice as well. He saved the day, and very possibly us from injuries or worse. at least twice from other idiotic drivers. The scenic tour and places we visited in Tuscany were beautiful.
Ramon_C, Aug 2025
The guide did not provide any information or history regarding the historical sites. 🥲 However, the sights were beautiful!
Response from Host, Aug 2025

It was a long day, but I am so happy I was not deterred by the duration! Veronica was informative about the history of the area, kept us on time and clear on where we had free time and what to explore. The farmhouse lunch & wine, truffle shop and amazing locations to visit on this tour made it an incredible day! Highly recommend! Thanks Veronica!!
Frances_F, Aug 2025
Excellent tour . Loved orvietto and civita da bagnoregio . Our guide Patrizia was such a sweet person, full of knowledge of the region as well as lots of Italian history in general . She was very patient and considerate for those tourists that needed extra care , which was kind.
The winery we had lunch at was stunning..We got to see the underground cellars with some items dating back to 1600's.
Highly recommended.
Natalyn_V, Aug 2025
Took this day trip with my sister and we had a blast! We came across some friends who booked the tour as well and it only made the day so much better! It was so awesome seeing so much and learning so much in one day. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to get out of Rome for a day and see what else Italy has to offer. Especially if you’re looking into a Tuscan vineyard experience, this was a good one!
vania_c, Aug 2025
Semith was fantastic! Fun, knowledgeable and shows many beautiful places. The food and wines taste was delicious.
Civita and Orvieto are places you mist go to visit!
