Incredible tour that combines different experiences in a single day - our Pompei guide Elena was amazing and replied to our several questions. The wine/lunch was fun and delicious. We made a quick visit to explore Naples and try coffee and ice cream (city was very different from the Rome vibe so a plus on the Italian culture overview) It’s a long day, but very comfortable van.

We took an amazing day tour to Pompeii and Naples with guide Antoinette and driver Pedro. Pedro’s driving was fabulous—he expertly navigated our van through incredibly tight spaces with total confidence. Antoinette was a standout, sharing her deep knowledge through captivating stories rather than dry facts, and she was endlessly patient with our group. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the area!

It's a long day - 12 hours, but was such an awesome tour! We had Sam as our tour guide and Luigi as our driver - both were AMAZING!!! Luigi is an excellent driver and git us around safely. Sam was so patient, friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around. Couldn't ask for a better team! We booked a small group tour, but it ended up just being the two of us - so turned into a private tour - which was fantastic - had the whole van to ourselves! First stop was Pompeii. Had a 2 hour tour and learned so much. So interesting! Next was lunch at a winery. We had a small tour, then tasted 4 wines while having a tastey lunch that included dessert. After that, we stopped in Naples for a bit where Sam walked us around the whole time- explaining everything. He was so patient and waited while we ordered fried pizza ( we were stuffed from lunch, but had to have pizza in Naples). Last, we stopped to see the most amazing view of the city and took some pictures before heading back to Rome. Had a great day and so glad we did this tour. Highly recommend it and hope you are fortunate enough to get Sam and Luigi as your guides for your tour!

Long day but worth it.

It’s a very long day in a mini van. We had 6 people along with a very nice tour guide named Joseph. The day was well organized and we really enjoyed Pompeii. The guide provided there was amazing. He showed us so many highlights and kept the tour moving. We had lunch at a local winery along with a tour of the facility. Naples was a bit of overkill. We could have skipped that and headed back to Rome. It makes it too long a day for most people. Consider cutting that part of the tour and just doing lunch and Pompeii.

The best tour we did in Italy- Jazzy was top-notch and is now my son's idol. We got to Pompeii early before it was crowded, and our tour guide there was perfect- she gave us just enough information, but didn't overwhelm or bore. Our lunch at the winery was fantastic, we got to tour the grounds and then eat some great food and drink some amazing organic wines. Yes, it is a sales pitch, but worth it to me and we ended up buying wine to be shipped home as our "souvenir". We then went to Naples, where Jazzy gave us a short tour of the very busy city and recommended a wonderful local place to get great coffee. We then drove to an overlook of the coastline where we were able to get some lovely pictures. I really can't say enough good things about Jazzy, who is fluent in 5 languages and has a PhD. He was funny, friendly, helpful, and our whole family loved him- he really made the tour exceptional!

This tour with Antoinette and our driver Pietro was nothing short of amazing! You may think that this tour would be a very long commitment- it may be in hours but it flies by! The drive is full of interesting stories and Antoinette’s charm and intelligence keep you completely engaged. Pietro was an expert and quick driver. The guided tour of Pompeii brought the city to life once again. And Naples - was electric and beautiful. If you are on the fence - book it, no doubt!

The best trip of my entire visit to Italy

It was an extremely worthwhile trip, and we felt well taken care of from start to finish. Mr. Guiseppe – our guide – and the driver arrived on time, with a very comfortable vehicle. The driver was very polite, and our guide was attentive, kind, and truly excellent. During our visit to Pompeii, we were accompanied by a local guide who knew the site incredibly well. We learned so many fascinating details that you simply cannot get from reading on your own. For lunch, we visited a beautiful vineyard and enjoyed an exclusive look at their winemaking process. The full-course meal and the wines served were all delicious. At the end of the trip, we visited Naples, and our guide shared the city’s history in great detail, as he is a native of Naples himself. Overall, it was a wonderful trip with flawless service. It’s rare to be impressed enough to feel compelled to write a review like this.

We had the best experience ever! Luigi was the perfect driver — he knew the roads like the back of his hand, always careful but never slow, and made the entire ride smooth and enjoyable. Giuseppe was an amazing guide and such a wonderful storyteller. He brought every stop to life and kept us engaged the whole time. They even played “Happy Birthday” in the car, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch! The Viator employees and tour guides are very nice and friendly. We had Teresa and she was very kind and a joy to be around during the whole trip. Make sure you have a battery charger for your phone because, it’s a long day and you will take a lot of videos and pictures and you may not have enough battery life left after a few hours.

Pompeii and Naples with Lunch

Marie and Giuseppe were amazing. On time to pick us up and even gave us options for lunch, which we left up to the kids. As we were driving to Pompeii, Marie spoke with us the entire way to give us history of Italy, the areas we were travelling through and even her own family memories. Coming from Sicilian parents myself, and my wife being of Portuguese decent, we could relate. When arriving in Pompeii, Francesco took us around and he provided us with so much information about the site. A little secret, his mother was an archeologist on site for many years, so he is very well informed. Francesco was passionate and made sure to take pictures of us and that the kids were having fun. After leaving the ruins of Pompeii, we went to Naples for lunch where we enjoyed true Neapolitan style of pizza. Absolutely delicious. She took us through the city centre and square to tell us about the history of Naples. She also treated us to caffe Del nonno and the kids to gelato. I would definitely recommend all 3 of them, and would ask for them specifically if that’s an option. Thank you for the amazing day. We have those pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. The best day trip - from Rome!!

Wow!! This was a perfect day trip to take from Rome. Nicholas was our tour guide and he was entertaining, funny, and informative about each step of the way. Gian Paulo was our driver and he made us feel safe the entire trip. The food, winery, Naples trip was excellent. When we went to Naples the local Football team won the championship and the energy was on another level. I would recommend this trip to anybody looking to to get a taste of Naples and Pompeii.

We had a wonderful day trip to Pompeii and winery lunch on Vesuvius with our guide Marie and driver Massimo. We felt very well taken care of the entire trip with great flexibility. Marie got us one of the best tour guides in Pompeii (83 yr-old Hector) And we were able to explore on our own so that we could see the colosseum and theatre which my son really wanted to do. Then we went to lunch for a great meal and wine tasting and tour with breathtaking views. The tour also included Naples, but we were so hit by jet-lag that we decided to go home at that time, though I think we missed out, so we will definitely have to do that next time! Highly recommend, and try to request Marie! She is wonderful!

With only a few days to spend in Rome we choose to spend 1 of our days on this 1 day excursion. This was by far my favorite thing about our trip to Italy. She made sure we saw all the highlights. And she was so patient. Nothing felt rushed. The guide at Pompei, Romano, was superb. He made the experience come alive! His knowledge of the history was extraordinary and he told fantastic stories. This was the best way to see Pompei and Naples in a day. The winery was great as well! Unique wines and friendly host. Very fun experience, ver personalized and enjoyable day. Pompeii was very cool, the guide answered all my questions, the vineyard was gorgeous (and the food/drinks were delicious) and our guide made sure we saw the best of Naples

To my mind, Pompeii is a little too hyped; we would´ve enjoyed the visit more if our guide(at the ruins) was not fixated on showing us every phallic symbol and stopping by every house of ill repute. Our guide at the ruins was Hector and he was far too graphic for both myself and my wife´s taste. Naples was great.

I was a bit hesitant when...

I was a bit hesitant when I booked this experience as it was one of the more expensive activities; however, it was more than worth the price tag. The guides, Marie and Adam, were amazing. They were engaging and friendly and made the whole day a great experience. Due to the drive time we were limited by how long we could stay at certain sites but we never felt rushed. We would definitely recommend this activity to anyone and everyone.

I knew I wanted to take my family (kids 6, 11 & 13) on a day trip to Pompeii. I was a bit hesitant at this price point, but wow this was the highlight of our trip to Italy. Our driver Claudio and guide Maria were fantastic, the tour van was new and clean, and this was just the right mix of seeing Pompeii, having a relaxing gourmet lunch and seeing a bit of Naples. We had a way better experience than in a large group bus - it made the day really special. Spoil your family and book this tour.

Fabulous experience! Marie & Max were a great guide & driver pair. Itinerary was excellent. Loved the convenience of hotel drop off & pick up. We learned so much about Pompeii. The winery experience is fabulous.
