Your morning starts with pickup from your hotel in central Rome by air-conditioned minivan. Settle in for a several-hour drive to Pompeii Archaeological Park.
On arrival in Pompeii, skip the ticket lines and the crowds trying to get into the popular attraction, and take a guided tour covering much of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Then, head toward the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy views of the Bay of Naples along the drive to Positano, where you can stop for lunch, relaxation and shopping (own expense). After several hours in Positano, continue down the coast to Amalfi, or visit the waterfront villages of Maiori or Vietri sul Mare.
Your full day ends with a return drive and drop-off in Rome. Note that if you visit in the summer, due to road closures, your itinerary may be reversed or reworked.

It was a very good tour of Pompeii! They had a local guide employed at Pompeii. He was very knowledgeable and it was very interesting. It's hard to see the Almalfie Coast in a few hours but it was a gorgeous drive and we did have about 1 1/2 hours for lunch on our own and time to look around. Gorgeous Views!! We're glad we went on this tour!

We drove to Pompeii with a stop at a roadside gas station for breakfast. A private guide in Pompeii showed us around; it was very informative and well done. Then we drove to Positano and had lunch at the Pergola and had some time to shop. We then drove further down the Amalfi coast to Ravenna and back to Rome. The drive after lunch was long, about 4 hours. We did stop about 3 times to take pictures with views. Ana was our guide and spoke good English and was very personable. A great experience. I gave it 4 stars because I would have liked to be able to choose to go straight back to Rome after lunch or continue down the coast.

What a fabulous day! Nicholas, our guide with perfect English & Pino, our driver, collected us from our hotel in Rome & whisked us off to Pompeii where we were met by an expert for a fascinating 2-hour tour which really brought it all to life. Then off along the Amalfi coast where Pino excelled at navigating the mindblowing hairpin bends & squeezing past other traffic when there really wasn’t enough room, giving us stunning views all the way to Positano for lunch. Nicholas answered all our questions along the way, & was not only knowledgable & charming, but got us a beach-view table for an absolutely delicious lunch. It was a very big day, made much more enjoyable by Nicolas & Pino - highly recommend!

Pompeii is awesome as is Positano. We had time there. The rest is drive-thru if that. It is one insanely trafficked road once you get to the Amalfi Coast. We had a couple accidents (not uncommon) that rerouted us, so long day with limited sightseeing that wasn’t driving but we did experience the Amalfi Coast.

It was a long day - this is not meant to be a day trip from Rome (better to be based in Naples). We spent nine hours in the car for 4.5 hours of sightseeing. Pompeii was a nice tour, and Positano was lovely but there was not enough time to really enjoy it. Unfortunately due to an accident we were unable to go to Ravello, but given that would have been a brief visit, it was not worth the attempted drive there. JB was a nice tour guide and our driver was amazing (driving the Amalfi coast is tough!)

A very good and memorable day trip. Our trip assistant, Giulia, was charming, informative, and an absolute pleasure. Giordano, our driver, very skillfully navigated the narrow, twisty roads from Pompeii to Positano. This tour is a great opportunity to get out of Rome and into the countryside and, of course, to see two of Italy’s great attractions. Although our guide in Pompeii was pretty good as a licensed local guide, he was not a qualified archaeologist as the tour description indicated would be the case. (He shared with us that he was a retired jewelry salesman who had been a guide at Pompeii for 12 years). Some questions he couldn’t answer, which we found a bit disappointing. Overall, however, this was a very good tour and fairly priced compared to similar tours.

We had a really great time on this long excursion. The driver and assistant picked us up at 6:30am and dropped us back off at 8:15pm or so. Lots of driving on this one, but we were expecting it so it was OK. The van was good, new, clean. Driver and his assistant were both pleasant and laid back. Pompeii is a must see in this lifetime. It was WAY bigger than we had anticipated. The guide we had there was different than our driver or assistant. Two hours at Pompeii, but it would have taken 2 days to scratch the surface. Then off for another 90 minutes to lunch which had been reserved at a cool little restaurant in Positano. 2 1/2 hours there with lunch and walking around and then back to the van to drive the 3 1/2 hours back to the hotel in Rome. This is not for the faint of heart. You need a week at the Amalfi Coast, but we had just a day, so this trip was perfect for that. The only thing that was a little confusing was the guide. He was not a guide (and told us so...not a problem here). He was an assistant that basically got us where we needed to go and kept us on time. He was not giving a lot of background or history to anything we were seeing. I would take this excursion again if I had a day in Rome and wanted to see Pompeii and Amalfi. And this was a LOT better than a tour bus. Moved along quicker and got more done.

Pompei tour itself at the site was tremendous. 5 hours there and back was torture. Just silence. Guide and driver (not sure why it took 2 for 6 passengers? & cramped in smaller van) silent the entire time. Nothing about areas we were passing, no history of areas or anything.

We had a great time on this tour! It was a very long day, but worth it! Our tour leader, Nariman handled everything throughout the day for us seamlessly! He even got us a reservation for lunch right on the water in Positano! Our tour guide in Pompeii, Ettone (sp?) was amazing. Kept everyone moving and knew exactly what to focus on at a very busy time at the ruins. Our driver, Giuseppe managed the small, windy streets with precision and got us to where we needed to go safely! Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that loves history! Nariman has broad knowledge, takes pride and care in his ‘clients’ and seems to genuinely love what he does. Until next time!!!

This was a wonderful trip. It was a long day but worth it as the views were amazing. Rishi was a knowledge, patient and courteous tour guide and Giordano was an excellent driver through the twist, narrow roads. The van was comfortable and the ac was great. It was nice to be driven around and have a break from all the walking. The Pompeii tour guided Enzo was excellent too. Our only disappointment was the amount of time allotted for eating and shopping- was not really 3 hours. It was rushed and crowded. A bit under 2 hours. The restaurant suggested for lunch ( which we then got reservations for) was beautiful - the beach view was gorgeous- but food was very expensive for just lunch. If we had known there were other choices, we would have just grabbed something quick and much cheaper and had more time to walk around , explore and shop. The fact this tour was the best way to see Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi Coast all in a day and just sit back made the trip worth it though. The views are what you're really paying for. Overall the experience was very beautiful and memorable.

Fantastic…this experience was excellent!! The driver Claudio did a masterful job of navigating the roads and crowds when we came back into Rome. The van was comfortable but we do recommend providing cords for charging phones because you’re on the road all day. The guide Paulo in Pompeii was amazing and provided so much education and insight. He brought Pompeii to life!! The assistant JB was absolutely phenomenal with his personality and his passion and positive attitude! He made the trip fun, and all of the staff created an exceptional experience! We Loved everything!! Definitely an amazing day!

This was an ok day trip. Be prepared that you spend a good portion of the day traveling there and back. But the scenery was beautiful. We were a bit surprised that we were picked up in a mini van for the 9 people. Very crowded for a day long trip. The stop at Pompeii was informative but long. Be prepared for steep climbing on a rocky pathway. But very interesting. Our tour guide there was very informative. Jazzy, our tour guide for the overall trip did a nice job getting us a reservation for lunch at a restaurant on the Amalfi Coast so we didn’t have to stay in a wait in a long line and the pizza there was delicious. Also, Kiddos to our driver he did a great job maneuvering around traffic.
Again, this is a nice trip, just be prepared for the long ride, the crowded vehicle and the amount of walking up steep inclines on rocks and the traffic.

This was a private tour. Our driver Roberto Proietti and tour lead Teresa were outstanding. Teresa made sure we were well taken care of getting us to our destinations in each portion of the tour. Roberto stayed with the van and u could leave item on the van as he was there to protect it. In pompei we had a private guide hector who was the sweetest most informative person who knew every nook and cranny of the site. He was very funny especially when explaining the brothels and how to identify the way to get there with the stone “pictures”. We had enough time in positano sorento and amalfi coast yo eat shop and take in the picturesque views. I highly recommend this tour to people who are fit and can walk on uneven slick at times cobblestone like lava rocks and marble. This is a rather energetic tour involving uneven walking services, stone steps at varying heights in pompei; steep steps in Positano which is hard enough going downhill but one must walk back up those steps and hill to get to the van. This tour covers a lot of ground in 12 houts. I further would NOT recommend this tour to motion sensitive people as it is very very windy. Dramamine is a necessity for those type of people.

It is one of the greatest trip we have ever been on.
Pompeii was incredible and our guide was an expert.
The Amalfi coast was out of this world beautiful!
We ate down at the sea in Positano and the food was excellent.!

Our Tour guide Elizabeth and drivers Arturo and Antonio went above and beyond to accommodate the 8 of us. They helped all along on all our stops (including unexpected stops) and also gave us free time to explore.

Great trip to Pompeii and Positano, but it is a long day from Rome.
Knowledgable guide to show the amazing ruins of Pompeii.

This is a very long day as indicated in the description. But what we didn’t realize is that approximately 60% of the day is spent just riding in the van. Pompeii was fascinating, but two hours is not enough time. And while the Amalfi coast is beautiful, it is a bumper-to-bumper ride on a windy, curvy Road. I would not advise this if you get easily carsick. Positano was beautiful, but time was limited there and it was extremely crowded. The guide in the van provided almost no history or information about the areas we were going to see unless we specifically asked a question. This was disappointing as other reviews I read had wonderful things to say about how much they learned from their guides. Lastly, my husband accidentally left an expensive sun hat in the van. When we realized it was missing, I contacted both our guide and the tour company separately to see if anything was found. We never got a reply from either. Very disappointing. I would recommend visiting these two locations in separate trips.
