We had a wonderful day trip to Pompeii and Positano. Every detail was planned to perfection, which made it so nice to just enjoy. Our tour guide Flavio was fantastic and our bus driver Antonio was excellent. I would highly recommend this tour. We loved visiting Pompeii, having pizza lunch, seeing positano, and enjoyed Flavio’s stories and recommendations.

A long and busy day but a fantastic experience. Pompei is amazing and warrants a return trip. Positano and Amalfi stunning. Great guide- Francesca was excellent. Coach was first class and comfortable and Tiziano a fabulous driver. Highly recommended

Itinerary

Head to the meet-up point in central Rome, where you'll board an air-conditioned coach and set off for Pompeii. Meet your guide at the attraction's entrance and slip past the crowds with skip-the-line tickets, heading straight inside for a tour of the ancient city’s highlights. You'll also have some free time to get lunch.

Back on the coach, take in views of the Amalfi Coast as you head further south. See where the coastline meets mountains and the charming villages that dot them.

Stop in Positano, where you can sightsee, shop, or relax, exploring the village at your own pace. Afterwards, board the coach for the return drive to Rome and drop-off at the departure point.

Best guide ever!

Alexander_G, May 2026
Eduardo was incredible! He was an amazing guide throughout the whole day, very clear and made the trip nice and easy. His energy was infectious and his knowledge of the sights was vast. We were very happy to spend the day with him.

Great tour

Viktoriya_S, May 2026
Excellent choice. Perfect allocation of time for Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and Positano. Our tour guide Erica organized group very efficiently, providing all useful information and managed to cover everything on our itinerary and more.

The bus ride and overall...

Aiyana_G, May 2026
The bus ride and overall transportation were comfortable, and our tour guide Laura was kind and knowledgeable. However, the tour felt extremely rushed for everything that was included. We spent over 13 hours traveling, with roughly 85% of the day on the bus, plus additional time for a restroom stop, leaving only a short amount of time to actually explore Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. While I understand it’s difficult to keep a large group engaged, the commentary at times felt more like long lectures rather than an interactive tour experience. Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast are both incredible destinations, but trying to fit both into one day made it feel like we didn’t get enough time to truly enjoy either location. I think this experience would work much better as either a two-day trip or separate single-destination tours. Overall, it was enjoyable, but the pacing and amount of travel time made it hard to fully appreciate the places we visited.

Response from Host, May 2026

Dear Aiyana_G, Thank you for your balanced review and for your kind words regarding Laura’s knowledge, kindness, and the comfort of our transportation. As you accurately noted, fitting both Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast into a single day trip requires a very long journey with substantial travel time on the bus. This specific itinerary is intentionally designed as an option for travelers on tight schedules who only have one day available to see both iconic, distant regions. Because we cover a significant driving distance to bundle these locations together, the day is inevitably fast-paced. We are glad that you still found the excursion enjoyable overall, and we thank you for choosing to travel with us.

Great option, but be prepared for a long day!

Angie_S, May 2026
This is a long day but it is a great option if you really want to see Pompeii and Positano in one trip. We had a fantastic tour guide for the day, Alessandra. We also had a great guide at Pompeii. The one drawback was that the trip back to Rome was VERY long due to traffic leaving the Amalfi coast. We mentioned to our tour guide that it may make more sense, for this trip, to go to Positano first and then Amalfi so that you aren't leaving Amalfi at the end of the day along with everyone else. I think this would be especially true on weekend day. We were there on a Sunday in April. The weather had been beautiful all weekend, so it was extra busy and crowded.

Good tour!

Kristina_E, May 2026
Our tour was a great experience. It was a little over 13 hours so do be prepared for an all day event. It included quite a bit of driving (coming from Rome) but the bus was comfortable. They did have to put us in vans for a short bit to get into Positano, and if you are a tall or larger person, you will be uncomfortable for this duration, as there was virtually no leg room. We had two different guides. One was the “main” guide who was along the trip from the beginning to end. He was fantastic and really knew a lot of information that he shared with us along the way. We had a separate guide for the Pompeii duration. His name was Willie and he was hands down one of my favorite guides I’ve ever had on a tour. So funny, knowledgeable and always keeping us laughing and seeing everything we could want to see. We stopped at a Limoncello factory for about 15 minutes which was nice to help break up the time in the bus. Positano was nice but with under an hour and a half there, you are spending half the time walking up and down, so be prepared for some exercise.

Marissa the guide and...

Silvana_H, May 2026
Marissa the guide and Antonio the driver were wonderful. It’s a very long day with most of your time spent in the coach, but the stops in Pompei and Positano are worth it.

Pompeii and Amalfi Coast

gabriele_p, May 2026
The trip was too long, too many stops. We had an extra stop to sample (and buy) lemonchello which made our time in Portofino shorter. We were not asked or notified about this before we got on the bus. I did not want this stop and was unhappy with the extra time it took.

Response from Host, May 2026

Dear gabriele_p, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the pace of the tour was not to your liking. Please understand that visiting these locations in a single day makes for a very long trip with a tight schedule. Regarding the limoncello tasting, we would like to clarify that this stop is explicitly included in the tour information provided at the time of booking. We include these highlights to offer a complete experience, though we understand that different travelers have different preferences for how they spend their time. We appreciate your comments as they help us evaluate our itineraries.

Our tour guide, Natascia, and our driver, Enrico, were great. Natascia was very knowledgeable about everything she was showing us, and very personable.

Sightseeing out of Roma

Kathleen_L, May 2026
The Amalfi Coast n Pompeii are amazingly gorgeous. I would prefer to tour Pompeii first, then Amalfi coast afterwards. Pompeii is a huge ancient site and personally, i would need more energies in the morning to walk around and experience the site. Also, in the afternoon, the sun was brutually hot and drained a lot from my body system . All i can say is, luckily, I survived the heat. The tour guide and the local tour guide at Pompeii are knowledgeable and explained the tour well. The driver is unbelievably skillful in turns and highways. It is a good experience out of Rome.

A Great Day!!

Colleen_M, May 2026
It was a wonderful day. So much to see! Plan for a long day. But it is certainly worth it. Mikayla was a wonderful guide.

A great (long) day!

Deborah_H, May 2026
A great day- lots of walking, and lots of hills in Positano. But beautiful views of coastline. Marius was an excellent guide.

Great large group tour....

Evan_F, May 2026
Great large group tour. We really enjoyed Pompeii. Wish that part had been longer. The ride was beautiful.

Solid day trip option

Jamie_J, May 2026
Our tour guide, Patrizia, made what could have been a long day much more pleasant. The journey there and back is quite long, especially considering the relatively short amount of time you actually get in Pompeii and Positano. Pompeii itself is fascinating, and we had a good tour guide who helped bring the site to life. That said, Rome seems obsessed with these over-the-ear headpieces for tours—they’re uncomfortable, don’t stay in place, and are more distracting than helpful. Positano is a charming and picturesque town, though the shopping is very expensive. I would definitely recommend eating there instead of at the restaurant suggested during the Pompeii stop. Unfortunately, the pizza deal offered in Pompeii was some of the worst pizza I’ve had—which is especially disappointing given the location. Overall, I was happy with Patrizia and the experience—we felt well taken care of throughout the day. That said, for those looking to maximize their time, this tour might not be the best option. I did enjoy it, but there are likely more efficient activities if that’s your goal.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Jamie, Thank you for your kind feedback. We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed the day overall and that Patrizia helped make the long journey more comfortable and enjoyable for you. Regarding the pizza stop in Pompeii, we appreciate your perspective. Pizza is indeed a traditional local dish, and while it can vary from place to place, it is part of the regional experience we aim to include for authenticity. we’re sorry it didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion. We will follow up with our local partners regarding your feedback so they can review and improve the offering for future guests. We’re also grateful for your notes on the headset system and timing—feedback like yours helps us continuously improve the experience. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure soon.

Pompeii and Potsiano semi private tour

LEONARD_F, May 2026
The driver (Franchesko) was very friendly and did a great job of getting us everywhere. Lilly the guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and did a great job of getting us around to avoid the crowds.

Martha_R, May 2026
It was a great experience. The downside was we went on a holiday weekend and we weren’t able to get in the whole experience.

Not worth it

Traci_P, May 2026
I would not recommend this tour. It was very chaotic and rushed. We were supposed to have 2 hours in posotana for shopping and eating but we only had 1 hour which was not near enough time before having to rush back for bus so we wouldn’t be late. Pompeii had a great tour guide but again it was very rushed due to time issues. The lunch they gave us which wasn’t until 5:00(not really lunch) was cold pizza we had to eat on the bus on the way home. Again bc we were rushing. Save your money and rent a car to do it on your own. You’ll enjoy it a lot more.

Response from Host, May 2026

Dear Traci_P, Thank you for your feedback, and please accept our sincerest apologies for the experience you had on your recent tour. We are truly sorry that you felt rushed during your time in Positano and Pompeii, and that your meal was delayed and served cold. We strive to provide a seamless experience; however, as stated on your voucher, our itineraries are subject to changes due to external factors such as heavy road traffic and local congestion. These variables are unfortunately beyond our control and can occasionally impact the time spent at each stop as well as the scheduled lunch break. We appreciate your kind words regarding your Pompeii guide, and we will be sharing your comments with our operations team to see how we can better manage these logistical challenges in the future. Best regards.

Long interesting trip

henry_b, May 2026
Long trip. the coast is beautiful but we went on a very busy day and had a lot of traffic. the time at Pompeii was cut shorter than needed. From Rome it is a 2 1/2 hour trip each way without traffic.

Marielle_D, May 2026
Had an amazing time on this tour and it was definitely worth it. Our tour guide Eduardo was very knowledgeable and interactive, gave the history of all the places we saw and some recommendations for while traveling. What I also liked is that if you’re in Rome only for a few days, you’re able to see more of Italy without having to plan your own transportation. Optional, but a bonus was having lunch provided especially since it’s a long day. The Amalfi coast was beautiful and would do this type of tour again next time I visit Italy.

Not enough time at Pompeii

Donya_R, May 2026
The guide Veronica, was good as was the driver. The tour guide for Pompeii was also good. It was a very long day with several stops along the way at planned “tourist traps”. All of this caused a rushed tour of Pompeii with no time to explore or shop. Word to the wise: skip the pizza at the end.

Response from Host, May 2026

HI Donya_R, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed Veronica, the driver, and your Pompeii guide. We appreciate your comments about the long day and pacing, and we’ll share this with our team as we work to improve the experience. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Great experience- all in one fay

Jeanna_B, May 2026
It’s a long day, but worth it- pack snacks unless you want to pay high prices at the rest stops- the lemoncello factory was great. Wear comfortable shoes bring a small blanket and pillow for the ride.

A Great Day!

Mary_B, May 2026
Laura, our tour guide, and Enrico, our bus driver, were wonderful. Laura was very knowledgeable and she was very easy to understand. Positano and the Amalfi Coast were incredibly beautiful and we had a lovely time exploring and snacking! Pompeii was incredible! We had no idea how big it was and could have spent days there! Our guide, Federico, was funny and personable and quite knowledgeable, as well. All in all, a long day well spent!

Great Trip

William_H, Apr 2026
Very interesting and educational. Bernadette is a very knowledgeable guide who does a great job explaining Pompei. Our driver was also very good and made our journey comfortable.

Karen_S, Apr 2026
A long day, but very well organized and we loved all stops. The scenery was breathtaking and Pompeii very interesting.

Great overview of Amalfi coast.

Sherry_C, Apr 2026
Lots of important sites included in this tour, most notably Pompeii. It is a very long day but balances between walking (including plenty of steep hillside in Positano) and sitting in the bus. Guide Michela was terrific!

Lila_B, Apr 2026
Well organize. The tour guide, Alessandra, really knows the area, gave us food and history information. Very helpful.

Exceptional experience

Ewald_G, Apr 2026
You get A LOT of bang for the buck on this tour!! An amazing experience and the day just flys by. If you are lucky you will also get Chiara as your tour guide. I have been on many tours and have never had a better tour guide, going above and beyond even giving her mobile number to everyone in case they had any other questions while staying in Italy!!! This is a must do day trip tour from Rome ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you have the time…don’t miss out!

Cristina_Y, Apr 2026
This was a wonderful way to spend the day. Keep in mind you will be gone all day, so if this cuts into ither activities you may want to pass. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. Stops were appropriate and timely. You should wear comfortable shoes as there is walking but on uneven ground. So you want the right shoes. Pompeii was wonderful and Positano is picturesque. You don’t spend too much time in Positano so be ready to walk quickly to hit the shops. Tour Guide Pari and Fabrizio were wonderful. Felt aafe the whole time and Pari provided clear guidance including texts the whole time you were there!!! Don’t miss out, do this tour if you have the time!

Ronni_M, Apr 2026

Five plus plus stars. Highly recommend.. professional driving and gorgeous just looking out the window.
