My wife and I took this food tour about a month ago. A little embarrassed it's taken this long to write the review, but with 1300+ reviews (4.9 Stars), I know Andre and this company don't need convincing - I just needed to take another chance to say thank you. Our tour happened to fall on Juneteenth, and on a day when World Cup energy was pulsing through the city! (Andre wore a Brazilian flag like a cape and the joy was contagious). We were so grateful that Andre wove in local Black history throughout the tour, and it added a layer to the day we deeply appreciated. What made Andre stand out wasn't just his knowledge (he's also an amazingly talented storyteller and presenter), but it was his heart. He shared how to call 311 to get real help to people who need it, talked honestly about the city's struggles post-COVID, and quietly saved food throughout the tour to hand to unhoused folks along the way, no fanfare about it. He also connected the neighborhood's histories in vivid detail and we were fortunate to learn about things that history books are quick to rush through - hearing baout he Chinese Exclusion era while standing on the streets hit differently than anything I could read in a book. Then, there's the food. Every single stop delivered. Period. If I had to pick a favorite, the tea tasting stole the show for me. I 'liked' tea before, now I can't stop thinking about it. Every dish, every pour, every story; Worth every penny. Honestly worth five times what we paid. If you're on the fence, stop deliberating and book it. Ask for Andre if you can (I'm sure the other presenters are excellent, too). You will leave full, informed, and with a real sense of the city you didn't have before.
