Pick up your GoCar at one of two convenient locations: at Union Square or on Beach Street near Fisherman's Wharf. Up to 2 people can fit in this roofless, 3-wheeled car that reaches speeds of 35 miles per hour. This is a unique way to explore the City by the Bay, and GoCars aren't available in any other place in the nation.
Strap on your helmet, climb into the tiny car, and take off on your city adventure. Listen for directions that are clear and informative, telling you where to go and commentary about the historical and cultural significance of your destinations. Follow the designated route or make up your own tour based on your interests like film, art or nature. Explore the city at your own pace, stopping to spend more time at places that interest you. Landmarks on the preloaded tour include over 50 points of interest like Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park, Fort Point, Crissy Field, Lombard Street and the Palace of Fine Arts.

- Confirmation will be received at time of booking
- GoCars hold a maximum of 2 people. Prices are per GoCar - not per person.
- Pickup location must be chosen at time of booking. This is the location where your GoCar will be reserved
- Wheelchair accessible
- Driver must be 21 years or older to rent and must provide a major credit card and valid driver’s license at the time of check-in. A driver’s license must be in the customer’s physical possession (no photocopy). For foreign customer’s, an international license is not necessary.
- Service animals allowed
- Passengers must be 4 years of age or older - and small children must safely fit into one of our DOT approved helmets. The GoCar is registered as a motorcycle - but a motorcycle license is not required to operate the vehicle.
- Near public transportation
- All renters must be able to read, understand and sign a liability release and waiver form (standard participant agreement)
- On the day of rental, a $500 security deposit will be held on the customer’s credit card. If a CDW or SLI insurance plan is selected, a $300 security deposit will be held. The security deposit is released when the GoCar is returned.
- Foreign language options are available in French, Spanish, Italian and German
- For the safety and comfort of passengers the maximum height is 6'4" (1.9m) and maximum combined weight of 500 lbs (226.8 kg) for two passengers
- Transportation is wheelchair accessible
- Surfaces are wheelchair accessible
- Can you stop along the way?
- Yes, you set your own pace. The car always knows where you are and you can park anywhere you want (motorcycle parking or car parking) for as long as you want, and as soon as you start to drive again, the car will begin to talk!
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems
- Do you have to stay on the tour?
- Absolutely not! If there is a San Francisco sight you wish to see but is not yet included on the tour, just use the map provided to navigate your own way through the city streets.
- Vehicles:
- Most travelers can participate
- Are controlled with a motorcycle-style handle, throttle, and hand brakes. The 3-wheeled cars seat two and have a lockable trunk for your things. Their small size makes parking a breeze, and in San Francisco - a major bonus!
- How fast does the car go?
- Up to 35-mph. Note that drivers in San Francisco do not typically drive fast, therefore an average speed of 30-mph or less can be expected while driving.
- Can you cross the Golden Gate Bridge?
- No, but the tour will navigate you to Fort Point. Here the bridge soars about 200-feet above your head. It is possible to gain pedestrian access to the bridge span from the car park at the bridge vantage point.
- What is a CDW?
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional form of insurance similar to rental car insurance that limits your liability in case of accident. It is non-refundable. If you opt to purchase the CDW your deposit for rented a GoCar is only USD$300.00 instead of USD$500.00
- This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate

I loved the actual experience, really good fun way to explore and easy to do. Check in was chaotic and a bit stressful which took the shine off. Also there is no way you could complete the 2 hour tour in 2 hours so you will always incur some cost. Overall would recommend

You are technically driving a motorcycle so if you’ve never had the experience before, take your time and listen carefully to the instruction video. It’s very fun once you get the hang of it but it was a little scary at first! Also, it gets cold out by the bridge so keep a jacket handy. Would definitely do it again, especially with a group of people so you aren’t just one little Gocar all alone.

This was actually super awesome!!! We did 3 hours which is the perfect amount of time. 4 hours might have even been good. Takes you through all the highlights of SF. I would recommend this to anyone coming out. It’s not normal something people look to do but it was very fun.

Really fun way to see the city. Little go carts are exciting. Make sure to dress warmly. We rented for two hours but came back in one since it was so chilly. Small space so if you are plus it’s a tight squeeze but still fun. We didn’t get out since getting in and out is the hardest part. Easy to drive. Great way to see the city.

This was so much fun. My husband was skeptical but in the end we had the best time seeing San Fransisco in such a unique way. Who knew that they had bison in the city…not I!!!!! Do yourselves a favor and tour the city this way.

Where do I start... lol this would have been fun if the experience was with an actual guide that knows the area but they just leave you with a GPS guide on the go car and you are on your own.
If we knew san francisco that would be fun, if the car was guaranteed to go through all the streets that would have been fine as well but that was not the case.
A lot of times we went off route because either we got confused with the signs on the street or layout or because we are just not from there. And it would have been super ok and comfortable if we were guaranteed that the go car goes everywhere but there are streets that the go car cant go up because is too uphill for it and we did not know where those streets were located so we were always unsure were to go and because the go car does NOT have a reverse function it was such a hazzle trying to find the right route to return.
Lets say that if we knew the city, or if this was an arrange route with an actual human guide this would have been super awesome & convenient way to explore the city.
But because it was not, we booked 1 hour and basically lost that hour finding our way back because if we were late to return the vehicle it was going to be an issue. I even had to call them for directions to get back and the worst part was that I could have gotten there sooner but my mother who was in another go car kept getting behind and lost because she drived too slow and other cars got in front of her so we had to keep waiting for her each time.
So if you are in your own book more than 1 hour. You will need it if you dont know San Francisco. This is a great and convenient way to enjoy the tourist spots. I think it way better than the Hop on & Off bus option.
For the company, reconsider making a tour with an actual tour guide with a prepared route for the most important places. If you do, we would definitely give it a try if we ever go back to San Francisco.
If we ever go back maybe we could try more than 1 hour although we still wouldn't know were the uphill streets are if we are lost and the go car will still not have the reverse function and we may still loose that additional time looking for correct routes so Im not sure we would go back unless is a human guided tour with an arrange route

Absolutely loved this - so, so, so much fun!!!!! What a genius way to see more of the city without guides and rushing etc.
We couldn't recommend this enough - so you get a little bike/car thing and a sat nav to guide you on your way. The sat nav almost has a personality and makes it so much better - it gives interesting facts along the way and you get to take it at your own pace and skip bits if you dont fancy it. It was brilliant and should be in more cities.

Had a great time exploring the city with my daughter. The GoCars are a lot of fun. Dress in layers! It was sunny, but windy. Make sure you turn the volume up before you leave the parking lot. We got lost at the very beginning and wandered around waiting for the audio to kick in, turns out we just couldn’t hear it. We got lost another time due to a detour. We also got stuck behind a FedEx truck making deliveries. Keep in mind — there is no reverse — so we couldn’t back up and go around (we were going downhill). It was frustrating at the time, but we laughed so hard retelling the story to our family afterwards. Definitely recommend the 3 hour tour.

A different way to tour the streets of SF. My husband & I felt like we were in Mario Cart cruising thru downtown and Chinatown. The staff was also so kind to us when we got back and said we didn’t have enough time to make it to Lombard Street and allowed us to take the car back out free of charge since it was only 5mins away. They truly made our day with that.
