A super way to explore San Francisco and the surrounding area. Peter was the perfect guide- very knowledgable and considerate, starting us early to avoid the crowds really worked and we saw few extra sights along the way too. The walk through Muir Wood was peaceful and Sausalito was lovely tourist stop too with great views. Thank you Peter!

We appreciated our tour guide (Peter) starting a little early to avoid the summer crowds. He was very knowledgeable and snuck in a few extra stops along the way. We loved seeing Muir Woods and lunch in Sausalito. Highly recommend A Taste of SF for this tour!

Half day Muir Woods and Sausolito tour

Thomas_O, Aug 2026
Wonderful half day tour hosted by Buddy! Buddy supplies a load of interesting stories, anecdotes, and jokes that kept our group happily engaged for over a half day visiting the redwoods at Muir Woods and Sausolito for a lunch stop with gift shopping. Muir Woods is awe inspiring and should be a 'must see' for anyone visiting San Francisco. Also Sausolito is a magical little tow with the best pasties and coffee we've ever experienced in our worldwide travels. Highly recommend this excellent tour! A++!!

A Must See in the San Francisco area

Larry_M, Aug 2026
As more and more of our forests are being destroyed to make room for houses, a trip to Muir Woods is a must. The visitor will get to see some truly great specimens of nature untouched by humans

Had a great experience.

Donald_N, Aug 2026
Our tour guide, Jerry, was highly experienced and very good. He knew so many facts about SF, Muir Woods and Saucelito. It really added to our experience.

Great trip. Easy booking and excellent communication prior to pick up. We had a wonderful time. Guided tour was well done!

Bite Size Tour!

Tara_L, Jul 2026
This is a fantastic tour to go on if you want a bit of walking through the woods. It’s just the right amount of time to wander the trail. Our driver/guide Jerry knows a lot about San Fransisco and the whole Bay Area. He’s fantastic and I highly recommend him.

Interesting Excursion

Michael was an exceptional tour guide. He has vast knowledge of the history of the Bay Area, he kept the tour organized, and he made it much more enjoyable than if we'd done the same trip on our own. The van was comfortable and clean.

Muir Woods National Monument was a beautiful place to visit and we were allotted just the right amount of time to spend there. However the red van we were riding in was extremely uncomfortable and the sound system was very poor.

I really enjoyed this tour. The itinerary was well-organised, the transportation was comfortable, and the guide Peter provided a lot of interesting historical context. Overall, it was a fantastic, stress-free way to see the parts of San Francisco areas.

Muir Woods and Sausalito

Leslie_G, Jul 2026
Excellent tour, Peter picked us up and we left early to beat the crowds. Worked beautifully. We were at Muir Woods while there were very few people and it made the experience very serene. He took us to another spot for pictures of Golden Gate that were unobscured by fog. Absolutely wonderful. Sausalito was very upscale touristy but that was to be expected. Great tour.

We loved Muir Woods and the time we spent there. Glad we went first thing in the morning as it definitely would be too crowded to go later. We were picked up at our hotel- by the time everyone got picked up from various hotels and we stopped at a vista point to see the Golden Gate Bridge it was after 9 am when we arrived. Would have liked to have arrived by 8:30 to beat the crowds. Sausalito was a fun little town - could have used a little more time there. I definitely recommend seeing both of these places. The tour guide was wonderful- very knowledgeable and fun to listen too. His mixed facts with stories and humor. However- the van ride there and back was awful. There were 14 of us crammed into a bus that should have only held 12. My adult daughter had to literally sit on my husband and my laps! Granted we are larger than a 150 lb person but so were several others. Since we were the second to last family picked we had to sit in the back and those seats were actually 1/2 wide seats. In the very least the driver should have rearranged the guests and had the smaller young girls sit in the back. (I am a 70 yr old woman). Or send another van and divide the group in half. It was soooo uncomfortable riding up to Muir Woods - getting out and back in and then doing it all over again at Sausalito. I sure wished we had booked with a company that used busses instead.

Great experience! The tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable The van was comfortable and the driving was very good. Red Muir Woods was beautiful and the town of Sausalito was very pretty

Outstanding Tour!!

Jerry was a fantastic narrator! Fabulous time and very comfortable van. Beautiful views of Golden Gate Bridge. We stayed in Sausalito and took Ferry back.

Amazing 1/2 day trip

Leilani_S, Jun 2026
Micheal was a great host and I appreciated that I could be picked up at my hotel. The drive wasn’t too long and Micheal had lots of details about the local history. The Muir Woods was amazing but a bit colder than I anticipated so I ended up having to buy a sweatshirt up at the gift shop. Bring a good jacket. The redwoods were absolutely breathtaking. Saulsalito was a gorgeous little harbor town. We only had an hour in Saulsalito so if I had to do it again I would forgo the tourist shops and sit down at a nice restaurant instead. I highly recommend this half day tour and would definitely do it again.

Muir Woods is fantastic

Jennifer_W, Jun 2026
Great tour! Really enjoyed the drive to Muir Woods. Muir Woods was absolutely awesome. The tour gave just the right amount of time at this site. Really enjoyed Sausalito as well. Really appreciated being picked up at my hotel.

Great place to visit but company needs to be better organized.

bharris6, Jun 2026
The scheduled trip did not start out well. The company failed to pick us up at the designated hotel. I called and was told they were on the way. After 15-20 minutes I called back and after some back and forth with the company and the actual tour guide/driver, we determined they were at the wrong pickup location. 35 minutes late, we were finally picked up. The tour van was packed, and my partner and I had to sit separately, which should not have happened as we were supposed to be the first pickup. All that being said, the trip to Muir Woods was great. What an awesome place to visit and walk through. Our guide was informative and gave a lot of interesting history. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but not a great beginning to the day or our trip to San Francisco.

Relaxing morning in the wood.

Jason_C, May 2026
This tour was wonderful. Michael our guide was very informative and funny. Muir Woods was incredible, if I could bottle the smells and sounds I would. I could so forest bath in these woods.

Magical

Katharina_G, May 2026
Muir Woods is absolutely beautiful. Walking among the redwoods early in the morning was magical. I highly recommend taking one of the early morning tours to Muir Woods. If you want to experience the woods in relative quiet and really take in the atmosphere without constant chatter, going early makes a big difference. The tour itself was very well organized. Our guide made a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge and kept the group engaged throughout the drive with stories and commentary. He had a good sense for the group dynamic and managed to keep everyone entertained. Since we had extra time, he also added an additional stop at the Palace of Fine Arts, which was a nice bonus. On the way back, we stopped in Sausalito and had the option to either return with the tour or take the ferry back ourselves, which I’d also recommend if the weather is nice. Overall, it was a great experience and a very enjoyable way to see Muir Woods and the surrounding area.

Dont forget the tip

Stephanie_S, May 2026
Informative tour guide mostly about his tip, dont forget his tip, did you see his tip sign and telling us we should tip him. We couldn't take it any more and opted to get off and take the ferry which added to our overall cost.

Muir Woods/ Sausalito

We loved this excursion. Jerry our guide was the best and very informative. Would highly recommend it

Muir Woods San Fransisco

Corey_a, May 2026
Excellent experience! Peter was an awesome tour guide! Great way to see the woods plus extras! Definitely do the early excursion and beat the crowd!

Good tour, but late picking up and cramped vehicle.

Phillip_B, May 2026
Whilst the tour itself self was really good. Pick up time said 8am. Door man rang them twice as it was 8.45 by time picked up and still 3 more hotel pick ups after us. Wasted an hour doing hotel pick ups and therefore only got a very short time at muir woods. Felt too rushed. The van is also really crammed, small seats and was very uncomfortable for the long journey. Whilst the tour was good. Sadly the tour bus let it down and pick up times need to be more realistic.

Buddy was very interactive. He engaged the passengers and was very knowledgeable about the area. He was timely.

Lyle_B, May 2026
Great tour guide “Peter” was very informative and gave us a couple extra bonus stops. Dress in layers if going in the morning.

The tour guide was good...

MaryBeth_G, May 2026
The tour guide was good and offered history of the area during the drives. Two things to note though. I feel that the sign in the van suggesting a 20% tip is customary is inappropriate. Standard tip is for food servers who have a lower minimum wage. Other personal services should be based on the service provided not as a % of the cost and you should be compensating your employees and contractors fairly. Also, this tour provider picked everyone up at their hotel doors which added a lot of travel time to the half day tour. We stayed in Oakland and drove in, so there was some confusion about pickup location. I would suggest the tour provider standardize the pickup locations to minimize the travel time.

Do it even if it’s just you!!

Jacqueline_R, May 2026
Beautiful walking tour!! Had an incredible journey!! Micheal made it a beautiful trip watching the shore in Sausalito and the lookout for the Golden Gate!! So glad I went solo!!

Muir Redwoods 1/2 day tour.

Lance_R, May 2026
Giving it a 4 only due to the limited time you have at Muir looking at the Redwoods. We were there to see the amazing trees and take pictures and the 1 1/2 hour is just not enough time. Tour guide was great, and van was easy to see out of. We would have loved to spend the hour at Muir instead of in Sausalito. Being picked up right near our hotel was a bonus as well.

Great guide and convenient pick up and drop off. Learned a lot, but wasn’t lectured. Appreciated the balance.
