I’m so glad we could give you a memorable experience in North Beach filled with delicious food, local history, and a great day together. Thank you again for choosing to spend part of your San Francisco visit with us, and I hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back the next time you’re in the city.

Ryan was an amazing tour...

Suzanne_M, Jun 2026
Ryan was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable about the area and the food choices were perfect. We even went back to a few of the places on the tour afterwards the food was so good. More than a food tour, it was an education on San Francisco, its people and what makes the city and food unique. We would highly recommend the tour to everyone but do it early in your trip so you can go back and enjoy your favorites. A very personalized, unique and delicious tour - great job Ryan!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful review! I’m especially grateful to hear that Ryan helped make your experience feel like much more than a food tour. One of the things we hope every guest takes away is a deeper understanding of San Francisco’s history, neighborhoods, and the people who have shaped them, so it means a lot to know that came through during your time with us. I love hearing that you went back to some of the places after the tour. There’s no better compliment we can receive than knowing a guest discovered favorite spots they wanted to revisit on their own. We’re fortunate to work with so many incredible local, family-owned businesses, and it’s always rewarding when those connections continue beyond the tour itself. Ryan truly loves sharing the stories, food, and hidden corners of North Beach, and I know he’ll be thrilled to hear your kind words. Thank you as well for recommending that visitors take the tour early in their trip—that’s advice I often give because it gives guests a chance to return to the places they enjoyed most. We’re honored that you chose to spend part of your San Francisco visit with us, and we hope the memories (and flavors!) stay with you long after your trip.

Best tour of North Beach

Craig_M, Jun 2026
Brian was a great guide, sharing his own personal experience and history of North Beach. The food was amazing, best cannoli I’ve ever had, and the sandwiches were so fresh and had great flavor. Truly, a great experience overall and would highly recommend.

Quaint stops, yummy eats

Chris_E, Jun 2026
This was the cutest little tour ever. Our guide was super friendly at making our group of strangers feel like family for a day. She was great at setting expectations at what our next step would entail. The food stops were delicious and ambience was cozy. We had margarita pizza, pasta, fried rice balls stuff with ground beef, chicken pesto sandwiches, smoothies or coffee, cannolis, and a stop at a fudge /candy store. My ten year old loved the tour too!

A Delicious Journey Through the Heart of North Beach

Jason_J, May 2026
If you’re looking for the perfect way to explore San Francisco’s iconic North Beach neighborhood, look no further than this walking food tour. Isabella was our guide. She didn’t just walk us from stop to stop — she wove together the rich history and culture of North Beach with the food stops. Over the course of the tour, we made seven incredible stops that showcased the best of what this neighborhood has to offer. We kicked things off with drinks before making our way through an indulgent spread that included cannoli, rich fudge, margarita pizza, creamy fettuccine Alfredo, the uniquely flavorful Arrecina, and Italian sandwiches. Each stop felt carefully curated, offering a wonderful cross-section of the neighborhood’s culinary identity. The pace of the tour was spot-on. We never felt rushed, always had time to savor each dish and ask questions. It struck the perfect balance between leisurely and engaging. Bravo to Isabella and the entire team for a truly memorable outing!

Good food, great tour!

Robert_S, May 2026
Nice selection of food tastes ranging from morning coffee to Italian specialties to deserts, but it’s the tour guide that makes or breaks a tour. Our guide, Ryan, was a wealth of knowledge regarding San Francisco, and he interspersed this knowledge with humor which made the tour a very fun experience!

It was a wonderful experience— we learned so much about the North Beach area, great food, history and culture!! We stayed around the area after the tour and explored some of the areas that Ryan, our tour guide pointed out. I was concerned about whether there would be restrooms but there was always one at the places we stopped at! 🤗

As a small local family-owned business, it truly means a lot to us that you chose to spend part of your time in San Francisco with us. First food tour! Isabella did a great job of providing city history, ethnic history and food sampling. Great experience!!

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you so much for this—it really means a lot to me. I always love hearing when it’s someone’s first food tour, because that’s such a special experience, and I’m really glad Isabella made it a great one for you. She puts a lot of care into blending the history of San Francisco, the culture of North Beach, and the food itself so it all feels connected—not just a series of stops. Great food and a nice...

Jeff_P, Apr 2026
Great food and a nice guide. The tour covers a very small footprint and foods were all Italian. Not a bad thing but probably could be categorized as an Italian food tour.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this—I really appreciate it. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the food and that your guide made for a nice experience. That truly means a lot to me, especially as a small, local family-owned business. You’re absolutely right in your observation about the focus of the tour. North Beach is San Francisco’s historic Italian neighborhood, so the food and stories are intentionally centered around that heritage. That said, I really appreciate you pointing out how it came across, because I always want to make sure we’re setting the right expectations for every guest before they join us. We do try to balance the experience with history, culture, and a variety of stops within a relaxed walking distance, but feedback like yours helps me continue refining how we describe and deliver the tour. Thank you again for joining us—it truly means a lot. And if you’re ever back in San Francisco, I’d love to have you join us in Chinatown as well, which offers a very different cultural and culinary experience.

Good with the Fam

The food was really good. The history was really fun and that is why I do food tours. I love the history. Brian was a great host and took great care of us. It’s a walking tour and it is manageable. It is not hilly or lengthy.

That’s such an important part of what we try to do on the tour, so hearing that it added to your experience truly makes me happy. And I couldn’t agree more—Brian has a great way of taking care of everyone while bringing the stories of North Beach to life. I also really appreciate you mentioning the pace and the walk itself. We put a lot of thought into making sure the tour is comfortable and enjoyable for everyone, so it’s great to know that came through. It means a lot that you chose to spend your time with us, especially with your family. I feel personally honored, and I’m very grateful you joined us. Hope to see you again the next time you’re in San Francisco.

This company has been great to work with. They were a wealth of knowledge on the North Beach and the Italian cuisine. My dad lost his jacket and they were super accommodating in helping us track it down, too.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this—it truly means a lot to me. I’m really glad you enjoyed the tour and that the history of North Beach and the Italian food came through in a meaningful way. That’s exactly what we hope every guest walks away with. And I’m especially happy we were able to help track down your dad’s jacket. I know how stressful that can be, and I’m just relieved it all worked out. We always want to be there for our guests not just during the tour, but afterward too if anything comes up. It was genuinely a pleasure having you with us, and I really appreciate your kind words.

North Beach walking tour

DAVID_T, Apr 2026
It was a great walking tour of North Beach. We had canollis, espresso, fettuccine alfredo, a slice of pizza, and some delicious gelato to finish it all off. Everything was very good and our guide was very knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend this tour.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this—it truly means a lot to me. I’m really glad you enjoyed the mix of food along the way. Those stops—from the cannoli and espresso to the fettuccine, pizza, and gelato—are all places we care deeply about, and it’s great to hear they came together into a memorable experience for you. It also means a lot to hear your kind words about your guide. We put a lot of thought into making sure our guides share not just information, but a real connection to North Beach and its history, so I’m glad that came through. As a small, local family-owned business, it’s always something I’m personally grateful for when someone chooses to spend part of their time with us. Thank you again for joining us—and for your recommendation. It truly does make a difference. Hope to have you back with us again sometime.

Great tour in San Fran

Great walking tour. Efficient and fun. My wife has several unique allergies but she was able to eat everything. (If you can generally have Italian food, you should be fine.) Food was provided quickly at all establishments. City history included in the tour.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this—I really appreciate it. I’m especially glad to hear that your wife was able to comfortably enjoy the food throughout the tour. We know how important that is, and we always try to be as thoughtful as possible in helping guests navigate allergies while still being able to fully take part in the experience. It also means a lot to hear that the pacing felt efficient and that everything flowed smoothly between stops. We put a lot of care into making sure guests aren’t left waiting and can just relax, enjoy the food, and take in the neighborhood along the way. I’m really happy you both enjoyed the mix of food and history—that balance is something we care deeply about as a local family-owned business. Thank you again for joining us—it truly means a lot to us that you chose to spend part of your time in San Francisco with us.

The tour was wonderful,...

Wendy_S, Apr 2026
The tour was wonderful, and the guide beyond informative! Highlights were talks about little known information like where Janis Joplin stayed, amazing little parks which are now required next to large buildings (and a wonderful one at the Transamerica building while eating a Molinari sandwich!). All the food stops were fabulous - a cannoli to start with, followed by a latte or coffee drink of your choice, an amazing visit to the famous Italian deli, fettuccini, pizza and gelato...all the best along with recommendations for other resturants. A fun filled 3 hours.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this—it really means a lot. I’m so glad you enjoyed not just the food, but also the stories and little details along the way. Those moments—like the history around North Beach, the connection to people like Janis Joplin, and even discovering those tucked-away parks—are such a big part of what we hope makes the experience feel special. It’s also wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the food stops. From the cannoli to the deli and everything in between, we put a lot of thought into creating a flow that feels both fun and satisfying, so I’m really happy it came through that way for you. And I especially appreciate you mentioning the recommendations for after the tour—that’s something we always hope guests can take with them, so the experience continues even after the three hours are over. It truly means a lot to us that you chose to spend part of your time with us. We’re a small, local family-owned business, and hearing that you had such a fun and memorable experience really stays with us.

Delicious!

We had a great time! Lovely food, small group, wonderful day. There were lots of stops and opportunities to sample delicious food at each. The walk was easy and manageable. Our guide, Isabella, was wonderful, sharing interesting and informative details. We are happy we chose to partake in this lovely tour and in the delicious food!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this—it really means a lot to us. I’m so glad you had a great time and that the day felt enjoyable from start to finish. Hearing that the group size felt comfortable, the pace was easy, and that there were plenty of opportunities to try different foods is exactly what we hope every guest experiences. I also really appreciate you mentioning Isabella. She genuinely cares about what she does, and it means a lot to hear that her stories and insights helped make the experience more meaningful. Most of all, I’m just grateful you chose to spend part of your time with us. It’s something we never take for granted, and I’m really happy the day felt special. Thank you again—I truly appreciate it.

Nice tour guide but too expensive for the amount and quality of food.

Gianluigi_F, Apr 2026
I thought our tour guide was nice. Her name was Isabella and she seemed to know a lot about the area. However, she was somewhat soft spoken, and my hearing is not great so sometimes I missed some of the details. There wasn’t too much walking on this tour and the portions were pretty small except for the decent sized. Margarita, pizza. Having family in Italy and being to Italy, I felt the food was average and I think the money would be much better. Spent walking around little Italy on your own. If it were cheaper, maybe it would be worth it.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share this—and truly, thank you for joining us. I really appreciate you mentioning Isabella. She cares deeply about what she does, and I’m glad that came through, even if the experience overall didn’t feel like the value you were hoping for. I’m honestly sorry that it felt that way. Hearing that you had trouble hearing parts of the tour is especially important to me. That’s something we can and should do better with. Everyone deserves to feel fully included, and I’m going to work with Isabella on making sure we’re projecting clearly and checking in more often so no one misses anything. I also really hear you on the food. Especially having family in Italy—that gives you a different lens, and I respect that. Our goal is always to highlight what North Beach offers here in San Francisco while making sure guests feel taken care of with both quality and quantity. When it comes across as average or not enough, that’s something I take very seriously. And on the value—if it doesn’t feel worth it, then we didn’t get it right. I never want anyone to walk away feeling like they would have been better off exploring on their own. If you’re open to it, I would really appreciate the chance to speak with you directly and learn a little more about your experience so I can improve things going forward. You can reach me at 415-810-5062, tmedin@sffoodtour.com, or through Viator—whatever is easiest for you. I mean this sincerely—when someone spends part of their trip with us, I feel personally responsible for making it something special. I’m really sorry we missed that for you, but I’m grateful you shared this with me.
