Your day will end at Pier 33, which is about a 15 minute walk away from Dylan's Tours Shop. This is where we will drop you off so you can take the ferry to Alcatraz Island and do your tour at your own pace.
Itinerary
Your tour begins in the North Beach where you meet your guide for a drive around San Francisco. Over the course of the day, you get a look at the city's diverse neighborhoods and geography, stopping at several locations where you can hop off the bus to take photos and look around a bit.
After your city tour, enjoy a walk through the massive redwood trees in Muir Woods.
Then, head to the quaint town of Sausalito for lunch (own expense).
Back in the city, you have the option to purchase your own Alcatraz ticket and board a ferry from Pier 33 for the ride across the bay to Alcatraz Island, home to the former prison of the same name. Enjoy the prison's fascinating audio tour as you explore the cellblock, and then return to Pier 33 on the ferry to end your day tour.

Great tour and tour guide. Mark was very knowledgeable about all things San Francisco and was very kind. He even did a quiz while on the bus to identify different bands from the bay area. Highly recommend this tour as well as including the visit to alcatraz

Tour guide asked too many personal questions. Tickets to the Alcatraz tour were not received from the tour company causing delays.

First off, the communication from the tour agency was exceptional(we had a hiccup with ticket scheduling for our ferry ride to Alcatraz, and the agency handled that issue for us day of). Our tour guide, Per, was very punctual, knowledgeable, and very inviting with our group. Would 10/10 recommend the tour, we hit almost all of San Francisco in 4 hours!!! Great pricing as well!!! Even through rain, the Muir Woods is majestic and amazing! We also had a great city tour and learned a lot about San Francisco and the cultural parts of the city. We chose to get off and spend time in Sausalito-which was fabulous. We spent time visiting with a couple who had lost their home in Palisade a year ago. It was a day to remember!

Jeffrey was our tour guide and he was awesome!
We loved Muir woods! Had great pics of the golden gate bridge and Sausalito lunch was too quick, would recommend another side trip here to really enjoy this area.

It was a nice tour. Communication was great, which helped have a better experience in each spot. The guide was knowledgeable and fun as well. The ride and the spots were very pleasant. Would totally recommend to a family, couple or solo travelers.

The tour guide Patrick (of Dylan's tour) is very knowledgeable about the city and shared a lot of information about different neighborhoods and landmarks. He engaged us travelers from different parts of the world in some fun game and made the trip memorable one. We planned our trip to San Francisco to attend a wedding and to visit two places: Alcatraz and Muir Woods. With that in mind, we scheduled our tour through Viator with Dylan Tours of San Francisco. I cannot imagine the disappointment we felt when, after boarding the bus at 8:00 on October 20, 2025, we were told by the driver/guide that we were not going to Muir Woods because of the government shutdown. Neither Viator nor Dylan Tours can control access to the Muir Woods National Park, that we understand. However, the shutdown began on October 1, 2025. We should have been informed that a critical part of the tour would not be available so that we could make alternate plans. The driver, in an effort to fill the time previously allocated for Muir Woods, drove us around San Francisco, showing us parts of the city of little interest and, in some cases, offensive. The bottom line: we are very disappointed in the tour and the lack of sufficient information to make meaningful use of our time. I spent $398 on a tour that did not deliver what was promised. I want a refund of that amount.

Thanks for joining us on your recent tour. We understand your frustration about Muir Woods being closed that day. We did send multiple updates about the government shutdown through your Viator booking portal, but unfortunately those messages often go unseen. This is one reason we always recommend booking directly with us so we can communicate clearly and directly.
Aside from missing Muir Woods, the rest of the tour still offers an incredible experience. We covered even more sights than usual that day, including stops like the Palace of Fine Arts, the Painted Ladies, and a longer visit in Sausalito for lunch. Over the past few weeks, most guests have still really enjoyed the adjusted tour despite the closures.
We’re happy to share that Muir Woods has now reopened.

We enjoyed the tour but we were not informed of Muir Woods being closed until we boarded for the tour. Instead, our driver, who was great, drove us around to ransom spots (one of which we visited on our own the previous day) and a creepy alley was part of the tour (graffiti). He did his best but too bad they didn’t just take us all to Alcatraz or a place more interesting than all of the little odd places.
