Riding in a tuk tuk allowed us to experience the extremely hilly neighborhoods and viewpoints of Lisbon. We could drive along narrow and windy alleys that a van or bus couldn’t go. Giovana was a fantastic guide. She explained the major points of Lisbon’s history, and gave us details of all the cathedrals, monasteries, bridges, and neighborhoods we visited. You gotta do this and ask for Giovana!

During our visit to the Palace Diego not only knew the history, but he had connections with the staff to make this tour uphill for 3 of us who are octogenarians. We all noted what a great driver Diego was as he negotiated narrow highly curving roads. Every aspect of the tour from pick up to drop off including every ticket was looked after. Daniel was our guide. He was prompt in picking us up. He navigated the roads in a safe and courteous manner. He provided a wealth of information about Lisbon’s (and Portugal’s) history, culture and trivia. His communication style was easy to understand and comprehend. He provided an appropriate amount of detail without information overload- unless we asked more questions. He is the best guide we have ever had. The tour was well laid out. We started at the top - on a hill (Miradouro Da Senhora Do Fora) with an overview of the city and its history. We worked our way thru a variety of neighborhoods. We would drive from one neighborhood, walk a while, then drive to the next stop. It was not physically challenging. It was an overall great experience for the four of us.

A must do in Lisbon

Our city tour in Lisbon with João was exactly what we were hoping for. From the start, he tailored the experience to our pace, making sure we could really take in each stop without ever feeling rushed. We covered all the must-see sights, but what made the tour stand out was João’s perfect balance of knowledge and humor—informative without ever feeling like a lecture. One of our absolute favorite moments was visiting Pastéis de Belém, where we got to watch the famous custard tarts being made fresh. It was such a unique and authentic experience, and we loved supporting a family-run business with so much history behind it. Another highlight was unexpectedly running into João’s wife a few times while she was leading her own tour—it added a really personal, local touch that made the whole experience feel even more special. Overall, this tour was the perfect mix of sightseeing, storytelling, and local flavor. Highly recommend João if you want a relaxed, engaging, and genuinely memorable way to explore Lisbon.

This tour was amazing. Marta was an amazing guide, I would definitely request her. The sites were beautiful and my 11 year old twins had the best day. She was so good with them always engaging them.
