Jose is a fantastic guide & went out of his way to ensure we had a great day. His knowledge, friendly nature & patience were most appreciated. His wonderful efforts were slightly let down by the tour company not providing Pena Palace tickets for the correct date however Jose was able to overcome these hiccups & made sure we did not miss out on anything. Overall we had a great day - thanks Jose.

Ricardo is an excellent guide! The itinerary and day trip was perfect for myself and two teen children. His knowledge and demeanor were a perfect combination for our experience. The timing for entry to the places we visited worked well and he even helped us out with all our picture taking!

Felipe is very informative and passionate about his country. He speaks English well. He picked us up at our hotel in Lisbon and we drove to Sintra and saw many sites including Pena Palace, the medieval Moorish Castle, and Quinta da Regaleira. Felipe knows the history well- including dates and also explains today’s current atmosphere in the region.
He took us to lunch and allowed time to stop and see the coast along the way. We saw Cabo de Roca and Caicais as well.
On the way back into Lisbon, he literally told us every piece of architecture, business or beach that we passed.

This was a great tour. Diogo was wonderful. He picked us up at our hotel and we drove to Sintra. Walked in the old town. Then we toured Quinta Da Regalia. It was fabulous. We then drove to neighboring seaside town for lunch. Then back to Sintra for a guided tour of Pena Palace. The weather in the afternoon turned cold and rainy. We had raincoats, but it was very stormy at the palace and Diogo gave us ponchos to wear. We can’t say enough good things about our guide. There is a lot of walking involved in this tour, which was fine for us, but people with mobility issues may find it difficult.

100% recommend doing the castle with a private guide. Please read the details and make sure if you want to do more than one castle you buy all your tickets ahead of time! But having a private guide for the drive and tour was wonderful. The walk to the castle is beautiful and definitely worth the effort if you can walk DO IT. The grounds are gorgeous and you should leave time to walk the gardens.

Our guide Diogo was amazing. Great knowledge of Portuguese history and culture. He’s easy and fun to talk with.
He pays very close attention to everyone in the group. We had a member who was getting car sick in the back of the van. Diogo noticed without her saying anything and made sure she sat in the front for the rest of tour.

Our guide was Alessio, he was absolutely the best!! He knows a lot of history, she shared everything in a such enthusiastic way that we got trapped into every little detail. He made an huge amount of recommendations, and he spot on in each one!
We enjoyed Sintra, with enough time to enjoy the beauty of Quinta da Regaleira, stay a little bit in Piriquita, get lost into the amazing old streets of Sintra. Then an amazing stop in Cascais to admire Boca do Inferno, get some items in the bautiful Mercadinho Boca do Inferno, and later enjoy (per our demand) a fine Italian cuisine in Corleone. Palacio da Pena was our last stop, enjoying every little details and story about the place (this place should improve the gift shop!).
This was one of our preferred tours in our trip, thanks to Alessio to make it memorable! Grazzie mille!

I booked a private day tour of Sintra through Viator, which was coordinated by Swingo by Avenidas as the tour operator, with Filipe as my guide. In my opinion, this is truly the best way to experience Sintra—your day is completely your own to customize, allowing you to see the sites exactly as you wish.
The communication between the tour operator, Filipe, and myself was timely, clear, and professional. Filipe spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable, offering wonderful insight into the history of the palaces we visited. I had recently experienced a fall, and he was especially considerate, helping me navigate the hills and steps throughout the day.

This tour is a must do! Diogo picked us up from our hotel in Lisbon and drove us to magical Sintra. On the way he stopped in Cascais, a lovely little town on the water. He asked us how long we wanted to walk around and met us when we were done. He gave us historical information and answered all of our questions while we drove. Upon arriving in Sintra, he let us walk around on our own, recommended restaurants and met us back at the van to take us to Palacio da Peña. He gave us a fabulous tour of the Palace and we appreciated the skip-the-line access as it was busy even in the off season!
Diogo was friendly, flexible and knowledgeable. We particularly appreciated that he gave us time on our own as we like to explore and not have a guide with us every second and during meals. Sintra is a not miss stop if you are in Lisbon!

We got off to a rocky start since the tour guide was to pick us up at our Airbnb but had challenges locating us even after providing a pin drop. We were left on our own to explore Quinta da Regaleira which is not what we were expecting. Also, Cascais was just a drive-by, not a stop. Thinking a different guide may have provided a better experience since the intent was good.
