Jimina was an incredibly informed and engaging tour guide with amazing driving skills. The tour began before we arrived in Sintra, with explanations of Portugal’s history and geography as we drove. The first stop was Quinta da Regaleira, where Jimina gave us the fascinating history of the palace and its creator. She explained to us all the key features of the property as we walked through it, but left us alone to navigate the amazing initiation wells. It is a site not to be missed.
Unfortunately we underestimated the effect of jet lag combined with a hot day, and Jimina was extremely accommodating and drove us to a stunning restaurant on the ocean, where we had a restorative lunch. We unfortunately did not rally enough to tour Peña Palace, but it is a good reason to return Lisbon, which we loved.

If you’re traveling to Lisbon, visiting Sintra is a must-see! I usually plan my daily excursions myself, using trains, buses & walking etc. But I am so glad we decided to see Sintra using Viator. There is a lot to see in Sintra, and logistically you would have a difficult time trying to visit all the beautiful sites we saw in 1 day if you had to wait in lines for shuttle buses to drive you to the castles and then have to wait in long lines at the entrances. Even as delightful as spring time is to travel with less crowds, I was amazed at the lines of people waiting to get in. Luis our guide picked us up in front of our Airbnb, drove us to Sintra, & with his Viator credentials, he could park in lots close to the Pena Palace & Quinta da Regaleira & we were able to Skip the Lines. What a time savor! That gave us time to also have a delicious lunch at an oceanfront restaurant & still had time to see the Moorish Castle. As Luis walked us around, he provided us with so much information about the sites & castles. What a great day & efficient use of our time. Thank you Luis!

We had a really fun day trip to Sintra with Luis! He drove us safely there and guided us through the two beautiful castles with a lot of stories and history, making the trip so informative. He also brought right to the ocean for a delicious lunch where we could watch local surfers. Luis was very easy going and easy to talk with. We felt like we spent the day with a friend! It was great! Highly recommend!

The tour was very beautiful and informative. I like the fact that you can pick in advance what you want to see in detail and what you want to just skim over. Our guide Francisco was an absolute pleasure, he was genuine and informative and the conversation and information just flowed naturally. There was no waiting in lines so we got to see a lot. The lunch spot Francisco picked was delicious along with his recommendations.

Our guides were wonderful. They got us to the palaces efficiently and quickly. I especially liked if they didn’t know something they googled it and came back with the information. It didn’t feel rushed.. overall it was a wonderful experience and they added to our experience.

Our guide Luis picked us up at our hotel and after about a 40 min ride we arrived in the center of Sintra to see the National Palace. We then headed to Quinta de Regaleira with its beautiful gardens, mysterious well and caverns, and charming and detailed palace - a must see! We enjoyed hearing from Luis about the ties to the Masonic order and the history of the site. Luis then took us for a delicious lunch at a restaurant on the coast with stunning views of the ocean. In the afternoon we visited Pena Palace with its colorful and unique architecture and spectacular views. Luis was a pleasant and informative guide who knew the ins and outs of Sintra. There are a lot of steep hills to climb so make sure you’re wearing sneakers with good traction. Would highly recommend.

The guides are what make the experience amazing. They kept us on track, on time and provided the best experience given the diversity of people in the group. The walking includes very steep climbs but the guides allowed us to rest as needed. We also were able to have an amazing lunch by the ocean. All 11 of us were very happy.

Sintra is an amazing place outside of Lisbon and is worth a visit. We highly recommend visiting with a guide because there is a lot to see and a guide saves time by knowing what’s worthwhile. Brina was our guide and she was amazing. She gave us information about all of the places we visited and brought us to a wonderful place for lunch. I highly recommend her as a guide.

Sintra is a special place, an oasis outside the city. We visited in mid-April and it was beautiful — so green. Our tour guide, Maya, who I highly recommend, made it a truly enjoyable day. She was punctual, knowledgeable and cordial. Enjoyed our conversations.

My tour guide, Luis, is new to the company but he makes up for the inexperience with his kindness and enthusiasm. We went to several spots in the Sintra area and I really appreciated his conversation and introduction to the many sites. He also generously helped take photos for me since I was on this tour alone. You should definitely purchase skip the line options as there were many long lines at the palaces.

Loved everything about this. We linked up with our tour guide Lourenco and had a great experience with him. He had lots of great info about everything we were seeing and doing, knew the ins and outs of the sites, and was able to maximize our time everywhere we went. The sites were INCREDIBLE. Hours could be spent there. The place we stopped at for lunch Nortada in Sintra, was delicious. Such flavorful, fresh seafood. Highly recommend this tour!

We had a wonderful day-long trip with Jorge. Picta Travel worked with us to ensure we saw what we wanted to see and arranged all the tickets for us. We visited the National Palace of Sintra, the Quinta da Regaleira, and Pena Palace. Jorge was a great guide and knew so much about each place-we learned so much with him. We had fast track tickets at Pena Palace, but they had closed some rooms before our visit so we decided not to visit the interior rooms so we could focus on the exterior and grounds. We were glad we didn't go inside when we saw all the people waiting to go in. Jorge also arranged lunch for us at a lovely restaurant right on the ocean. Our waitress brought our fish out for us to look at it before they cooked it and the fish came with far too much food. Jorge also told us lots of interesting information about Portugal's history and culture which added to the overall experience. We very much enjoyed our tour and would recommend it to anyone looking to experience spectacular castles and scenery while leaving the driving to someone else.
