Wonderful Sintra Tour and Guide

We had an excellent day touring Sintra with our guide, Ricardo. He picked us up right in front of our VRBO and took us to several incredible stops, including Sintra, Pena Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais. Ricardo was raised in Sintra and knew all the history and efficient routes. The vehicle, a Mazda 5, worked well for four people. It was a little underpowered at times, but overall it was comfortable enough and effective for the day. Ricardo took us to a local restaurant that was excellent, well priced, and not crowded. Going to this restaurant also allowed us to get dropped off right in front of Quinta da Regaleira afterwards, which was a huge time saver. From there, the Initiation Well was just a short walk up, making that part of the visit much easier and more convenient. Quinta da Regaleira did require us to buy a ticket, which we purchased on the way. However, because it is such a popular and busy site, the time slot we needed was nearly sold out. I would definitely recommend planning this in advance with your guide, especially if Regaleira is high on your list. I would also recommend coordinating with your guide ahead of time if you already know the places you want to visit. That way, they can help plan the day as efficiently as possible. The monuments around Sintra are spread out and can be difficult to access if you do not know the area, so having a guide made a big difference. In my opinion, a guide is the best way to make the most of your time, get the most out of the experience, and avoid a lot of potential frustration. This was a memorable and very worthwhile day trip. Guide went Above & Beyond!

Our tour guide, Sonia, went ABOVE and BEYOND. There were accidents on the highway after she picked us up; she took alternative routes and communicated with other guides to ensure our tickets would still be honored (because they are at set times for some monuments). She was charasmatic, knowledgeable and an absolute professional. We can't recommend this tour with this company enough!

Our tour with Diogo was a true highlight of our two weeks in Portugal! Diogo is a Sintra native who knows all of the best places, including secret spots with amazing views! He is very engaging, accommodating of special requests and truly gets to know his guests. It was a huge advantage having a local who grew up and still lives in Sintra show us around the area and share stories, antidotes, and recommendations throughout the day. We enjoyed all of the history and interesting information that Diogo shared with us while he drove us in a super cool vintage convertible all around the mountain and over to the coast. After a snafu with the front office we had a great time. There was some miscommunication about start times initially. Once our guide showed up it was smooth sailing. It is. Wry pretty in Sintra. The half day tour of historical Sintra and the castles was beyond our expectations. Our group was small, only 8 people. Our guide, Bart was exceptionally thorough - provided historical background with detail yet not overwhelming. He was a Great storyteller and very receptive in meeting groups requests and questions. Great personal guide

Joao (John) was an excellent guide! Very friendly, knowledgeable, and had lots of recommendations for our remaining trip. We had a quick tour of Sintra, then Quinta da Regaleira where we really enjoyed the Initiation Well, caves, and lush gardens. John then took us to the coast and Cape Roca Lighthouse for incredible views. Told us about Azenhas do Mar Restaurante and the viewpoint and beach there. We decided to have dinner there, which turned out to be the best meal we have had on our trip! Great views of the Atlantic too. Highly recommend this private tour guide and leave the driving to John! You won't be disappointed!
