Emperors and Senators and Gladiators, oh my!

This tour was incredibly informative. Our guide Luca was an archeologist who had actually performed excavations in the Roman Forum and more recently contributed to the restoration plans for the Colosseum. He brought Roman history to life, including so many interesting facts about the Roman emperors, senate, gladiators, and more. We learned so much on this tour and enjoyed it very much.

Valerio is amazing!

If you want to really learn the history behind the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, this is the tour for you. Valerio was PHENOMENAL! He is a brilliant archaeologist who is full of knowledge on Roman history. We couldn’t have gotten luckier to have such a wonderful tour guide. We learned a lot, saw a lot, and had a really enjoyable time.

This was a great tour and our guide, Jeb, made it all the better with his perspective, knowledge base (especially with the art) and witty commentary. The size of the tour (10-12 people) was also optimal to keep up with our guide and get an all around better experience. Definitely worth any additional cost. I would also highly recommend taking a long tour (at least the 3.5 hour tour we took) to make sure you get the best chance to appreciate the highlights of the Vatican. The tour required a brisk pace through the museums (as would be expected on a tour of this kind). You could honestly spend just a day in the museums, but this was such a great introduction to the Vatican!

Outstanding Tour Guide and Well Organized Tour

First, Stefano aka Kermit was the BEST tour guide we’ve ever had whether with a Viator excursion or another company. He was prompt, personable, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and he TRULY LOVES what he does. He should be in charge of training all your other tour guides. 2. The Vatican tour is the most organized tour I’ve ever been on. They know how to keep thousands of people moving effortlessly through their property. You’d never know you were spending the afternoon with thousands of people. My only complaint was the earpiece we each had to wear for the first part of the tour. Mine would not stay on so I either had to stand next to my guide to listen to him talk or hold the piece to my ear. The second part of our tour we were assigned new listening devices and I was able to plug in my earbuds that I had in my backpack.

Dan walking tour was great!!!

Dan was a wonderful tour guy. We went above and beyond what I expected in this 2 hour walking tour. He told us how to avoid lines in Italy, and took us to the tomb of the Apostle Saint Philip which has his feet visible to the public in a glass case. The area had also the femur of Saint James (not showed thankfully). The place is called the Basilica dei Santi Apostoli. What I found interesting is that people makes a line in that basilica to take a picture in front of a mirror that points to the ceiling and there is no line to see the tomb of the apostles. Looks like for them is more important to take a selfie of them and the ceiling, instead of being in front of the feet of Saint Philip. Maybe they are unaware that the feet of Saint Philip is there. Dan also took us to the Capella Della Madonna del’Archetto, smallest church in Rome, it only had seats for like 10 people, and is only open for 1 hour a day and Dan was so kind to take us there during the only hour it was open. Again, no lines to enter the smallest church, Dan told us people pass by and doesn’t even realize what that place is. Great experience with Dan as our tour guide.

Our guide was amazing. It was a very intimate group which our guide asked everyone where they were from and made and effort to get to know us. It was a grueling day, but very rewarding. We got to see much of the important. sites in the city and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. There was others in our group that had taken a tour in the Colosseum at that other Tour did not measure up to the quality of this Tour. It was an extremely enjoyable day.

Great tour - provides history and context without overwhelming

Quick walk around the Colosseum with some history shared along the way. This was very informative and provided some context before entering the arena. The walk inside the Colosseum was 30-45 minutes, but that was all that was needed. More information and history shared, while giving the guests plenty of time to take photos and look around. Final tour into the ruins area (Palatine Hill) was good. Not as exciting as the Colosseum (at least for me), but still worth seeing at least once. Glad we had a tour guide to explain the key points of interest. Our guide was great.

Fantastic Rome experience

Great tour. Kate was a fantastic guide, patient and knowledgeable. She also did her best to work through a ticket issue with one of the people on our tour.
