- ID and Ticket Accuracy Requirements: A valid government-issued photo ID is required at entry, and it must match the name on your booking. Different tickets apply to adults and minors, so please ensure accurate selection during booking.
- Strict Timed Entry and Late Arrival Policy: Entry to the Vatican Museums is strictly timed. Late arrivals may not be admitted and refunds will not be provided in such cases.
- Skip-the-Line Entry and Security Screening: You can skip the ticket line, but all visitors must pass through mandatory security checks. Please allow extra time, especially during peak hours or religious events.
- Dress Code for Vatican Entry: A strict dress code is enforced. Shoulders and knees must be covered. Sleeveless tops, shorts above the knee, miniskirts, and low-cut garments are not permitted. Entry may be denied for non-compliance.
- Prohibited Items at Entry: Weapons, glass items, sharp objects, food, and alcohol are not allowed inside any Vatican site for security reasons.
- Self-Guided Basilica Visit for Late Tours: For tours starting at 3:00 PM or later, the visit to St. Peter’s Basilica will be self-guided due to limited access hours for guided tours.
- Basilica and Sistine Chapel Closures and Access Restrictions: St. Peter’s Basilica is closed on Wednesday mornings (8 AM–12 PM), and on December 24 and 31. Access to the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel may also be restricted without notice due to religious ceremonies or events, such as Jubilee Masses or Sede Vacante (papal transition). In cases of closure, your guide will extend time inside the Vatican Museums. No refunds or partial reimbursements are issued.
- Baby strollers are not permitted inside, even if they are foldable. Please plan accordingly.
- Not recommended for individuals with mobility limitations

Checking in process was very easy. Our guide was amazing - so enthusiastic, friendly and informative. A guided tour is the only way to navigate the crowds and queues.
Only thing to note is that on Wednesdays, St Peter's Basilica is closed to all tours until 1 pm due to a public mass. Therefore only the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel were included. This was not noted anywhere when booking so we went back to the tour operator (Choice Tours) who kindly gave us an entry ticket to the Basilica (entrance to St. Peter's Square is free) . It wasn't linked to tour but we were just happy to get in to see it.

We booked the 3site tour for 288 andxwere scammed we got a tour of the Vatican museums and the sistine chapel and because st Peter's was closed in the morning we were told to go to St Peter's ourselves, now we have no Ticket and no guided tour. It's disgraceful for the amount of money paid very bad service

The guide was extremely knowledgeable but spent over an hour outside of the Vatican museums talking about the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo. He left barely any time to see the actual Museum so we saw very little. Highly disappointing. Others in the group were very angry.

Great tour!!
Our guide was knowledgeable, kept a great pace, and we were able to see everything notable at the Vatican. The balance between the guided part and the ability to explore on our own a bit was perfect.
We visited the Vatican Museum, the gardens, the Sistine Chapel, and St Peter’s Basilica and Square.

Great tour! So much information. We did all 3 sltes - Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica. Well worth booking ahead of visiting due to the queues on the day. Plus there were so many checkpoints to get through so it made this a lot easier with someone who knew what they were doing. Our guide was great. She had so much knowledge and information and was so passionate about the history! She was able to answer all the questions our group had and gave us a real image of what stories these magnificent building hold. Loved it.

Our tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel with Robert as our guide was excellent. He shared a lot of fascinating information and made the entire visit very engaging.
You could immediately tell he was a history teacher during his career, and most likely a very good one. In just three hours, I learned more history than many people learn in an entire year-long course. I highly recommend taking a tour with Robert.

The tour guide did a great job outlining the history and main features of the Vatican and Basilica. Due to the construction in the Sistine Chapel it was a little difficult to see all of the various works of Michelangelo

Very informative on the chapel but way too long. Didn’t really see much of Vatican museum. We were rushed. The chapel was very disappointing, not having the full view due to construction. But our guide was wonderful.

If wishing to do any tours whilst in Rome - make sure you book early to avoid disappointment. The tour offered by Crown Tours was first class, guide very knowledgable and covered 3 aspects during our 3 hours. Utilising the "skip the line" ensured we got to observe and spend more time listening and learning rather than standing and surrounded by hoards of people - even in February, I would suggest there were too many people allowed access.
Really enjoyed the tour and definitely excellent value for money.

The overall experience was fine but there was a bit of issue with time management by the tour guide even with the Sistine Chapel being closed- We all had to run from the museum to St Peter’s church and were luckily let in by the security at the end for the day. It was an interesting experience. She did give a lot of information during the museum tour.

My wife and I really enjoyed the Vatican Museums. There’s just so much to look at that it almost feels impossible to take it all in. We loved wandering past the statues, the huge tapestries, and the long hallways of paintings. The Gallery of Maps was especially cool. We also found the papal tombs surprisingly memorable—some of the caskets let you see inside, where the pope is laid out with a mask over the face. It was unusual to see something like that up close, but it definitely stuck with us.
The Sistine Chapel was the part we were most excited for, and it didn’t disappoint. The stained glass gives the whole room a soft glow, and the ceiling is even more impressive in person than you expect. Seeing Michelangelo’s work—especially The Creation of Adam—right above you is one of those moments where you just stop and stare for a while. Even with the crowds, it felt calm and almost unreal.
St. Peter’s Basilica was a great way to end the tour. The place is massive, and everywhere you look there’s something carved, painted, or built with an incredible amount of detail. We spent a while just walking around and taking it all in. It’s one of those buildings that makes you feel small in the best possible way. Overall, the whole tour was something we’ll remember for a long time.

This was not a skip the line tour - we waited outside in the pouring rain for 90 mins (half the tour time!). Apparently it was an exceptionally busy day for the museum but had we been told this in advance we would have changed the day of the tour. Two of our radio sets did not work and there were no spares.
