Wonderful! Our guide was amazing and a lot of fun! Very informative and took her time to explain all.
We saw all of Rome’s tourist attractions and this food tour was our favorite part of the trip! Monika was an excellent tour guide - knowledgeable, personable and funny - and made the experience that much better. Food was great and we learned a lot about the history and evolution of popular foods in Rome. Though it was a very hot afternoon, I would recommend this tour any day and any time!
Great food tour with a nice mix of history, local lore, and regional food baselines. Highly recommended.
Craig was a great guide. Involved everyone in group, good selection of different types of foods along with knowledge of the 2 different areas we walked through. Easy walk, left feeling full after 2scoops of real gelato!
We had a great experience with Sam, our guide. Visited some great places and ate some great food. Can highly recommend.
We have enjoyed other walking food tours in the past so we were especially excited to experience one in Rome! The description of the "Tour Guy" sounded fantastic - instead we were led by a middle-aged Australian woman who seemed a bit disinterested in the whole thing. The meeting point was near Piazza Fernese, which is an amazing area with TONS of wonderful Osterias; instead of focusing on a few places there, we stopped at a charcuterie mart where we ate cheese and meats standing up (with no plates) and dodging customers trying to get into the shop. Our wine was served in a paper cup. The second stop was across the Tiber - she led us what seemed like forever to a basic "college bar" where we ate "suppli" and drank prosecco. We live in a college town so hitting a bar like this doesn't feel particularly "special." We walked back a way to a very small restaurant for some pasta (finally!) and some questionable veal dish. The seating was very tight at both of these places and the descriptions of the dishes were perfunctory at best. Finally, we stopped for gelato at an "artisanal" gelato place and it was honestly the worst we've ever had. It was more like soft serve ice cream than the flavor-rich gelato we experienced in Florence and Taormina. We both suspected that the chosen locations were "buddies in the business" rather than excellent examples of the cuisine. Tour Guy, please do better going forward!!! I will hesitate to do a so-called "foodie tour" again. Your money is better spent on a nice meal in an authentic Osteria.
We did this tour on our first full day in Rome, and Fiona was a wonderful tour guide. We learned a lot about Roman culture as well as the food, and had a good time with the others on the tour.
Matteo was wonderful! All of the food we tried was amazing and we got to learn more about the history of the city.

Hi Wendy, thank you so much! We are glad you enjoyed the generous food, wine, and artisan gelato in Trastevere. Our small groups make exploring local neighborhood gems so special. Hope to welcome you back on another tasting soon!
We met our guide, Rosabla or Rose at the designated spot. She was holding her flag and easy to spot. What was nice it was a small group, just six of us. Rose talked a lot about the square we were in, Piazza Farnese, then we walked a little bit to a salumeria and tasted three meats & three cheeses that were just cut for us and some wine. She said it’s a place where the locals go. Quite delicious! We walked a little bit more and Rose spoke about the history and walked across to Trastevere and stopped in a restaurant for wine and suppli. That too was delicious and she spoke how it was made. We continued on and went to a trattoria for our main course. We had more cheese, ricotta with honey and bread. Then two different pastas followed by a meat saltimbocca and wine of course. Last but not least we went to Oteleg! which was right next door for Gelato, spelled backwards you get the name. We were able to get two scoops of any flavor in a cup or cone and fresh whipped cream. Everything was delicious and you leave very, very full and satisfied. Rose sat with us with each tasting to explain everything and the history of Trastevere. Great food tour and highly recommended!
Great food with family and new friends. Rose made us feel welcome and gave us personal insights into history of area a d foods.
Great food
Excellent communication and informative. Explain in detail all food ingredients and types of wine
. Also giving historical information of piazza while walking to restaurants
Fantastic, Rosa offered great bits of history. The food was a great selection of offerings. Very much enjoyed the experience.
Best food and wine tour we have ever been on! Arvin was an amazing guide. Our group had so much fun!
We had a great time and Rose made sure to call ahead for vegetarian options even with short notice. The food was great and we learned so much.
Great for learning about some of the history of the neighborhoods. Our favorite taste was the supplì. There was a good mix of families, couples, and solo travelers which made conversations fun.
Our Tour guy was the best. He was pleasant fun and very informative about the food. I had the time of my life.
We had a wonderful experience with guide Rose Alba. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable and the food was delicious!
My daughter and I had a lovely your. Arvin was a wonderful guide! Informative and fun. The food was fantastic and plenty of it! Great tour of Trastevere.
Our guide Sam was friendly and full of knowledge. The walking wasn’t to much but just enough to get a feel for the area and the food was delicious! I highly recommend this tour! You’re extra lucky if you get Sam as your guide!

Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that Sam helped you discover the hidden gems of Trastevere through great food, stories, and local insights. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him. We hope to welcome you again for another delicious Roman experience!
If you do not drink alcohol do not go on this tour. We were asked by our guide at the beginning of the tour if we had any allergies. We told her that we don’t drink alcohol. Our guide continued to ask us again and again throughout the tour to the point of even saying “Oh, I am so sorry you can’t have any limoncello……it is so good.” - as she continued to drink herself throughout the entire tour. It was not only incredibly disrespectful and uncomfortable for us but also for the other people in our tour group. Our guide was in other words very rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional.
In addition, it is overpriced for the food received and there was no value added with history or culinary significance to the region and Rome specifically.

Hi Ann,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your evening in Trastevere was so uncomfortable, as we strive to create welcoming, engaging, and respectful experiences for all of our guests, whether they drink alcohol or not.
While our food tours are designed to celebrate local culinary traditions alongside regional wine pairings, our guides are expected to remain attentive, professional, and fully accommodating to personal preferences without making anyone feel singled out. We hold our team to high standards, and we are disappointed to hear that the tone and commentary on your tour fell short.
We have brought this directly to our Rome Operations Manager to review your feedback with our guide team and reinforce our standards for hospitality and historical commentary. Please reach out to us at support@thetourguy.com so we can discuss this further and get this resolved for you.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to show you a much better experience on future travels.
Arvin was so good! Lots of fun, AMAZING food and wine. He was full of great stories and fun facts. Very happy we did the food tour with Arvin.
This was a fantastic tour! Our guide, David, was great - very knowledgeable. Somehow, a couple of picky kids were included in the tour and he was very patient with them and accommodated them well.
Super fun! Arron was awesome, fun and entertaining!!! Every place we went was absolutely delicious!!!!
A fun time exploring Rome while enjoying food and wine. We had a very informative tour guide who made the experience fantastic!
