Muir Woods National Monument is a must-see destination on any visit to the San Francisco Bay Area. Just a short drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, the protected nature reserve is home to one of the world’s last remaining coastal redwood forests.
Choose from a morning or afternoon departure and make your way to the meeting point in Union Square or Fisherman's Wharf. Stop at a vista point for a fantastic perspective of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, and wind through the rolling hills of the Marin Headlands to arrive at Muir Woods. Stroll along forest paths surrounded by the giant redwood trees.
If you've opted to add a bike ride, meet in Fisherman's Wharf. You'll ride from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito before taking the bus to Muir Woods.
After Muir Woods, take a short drive to the artistic bayside village of Sausalito. Capture photos of the San Francisco skyline during a stroll along the waterfront, pop into one of the many art galleries and grab a cappuccino or ice cream at a café (own expense).

Our bus driver/guide shared some interesting stories and facts about the city and its history! We teally enjoyed Muir Woods and our guide gave us great suggestions on routes we might follow in the park! Muir Woods did not disappoint!! We opted to stay in Sausalito for a long lunch and wander around so we chose to ride the ferret back to SF! It was a wonderful trip and I highly recommend

Don was a great guide. Had lots of information. We went on an early tour so a lot less people for the Muir Woods part. Wish we had more time at the view site for the bridge.

May want to bring a snack as the gift shop is expensive. We took the longer route and had no problem making it back in time to catch the bus

Our driver/guide was very nice. We felt very safe going up and down the road to Muir Woods. He drove carefully and safely and provided us with a lot of interesting information along the way in relation to all of the things we were driving past. The charter bus was very clean and comfortable. Only issue was that the seat belts were quite stiff and difficult to put on and take off.
Otherwise, it was a great experience!
We also enjoyed our time in Sausalito and the ferry ride back to Pier 39.

Curvy road to Muir woods.... salsaulto is a cute town. If you want eat there make sure you take the ferry back.

Great excursion that allows for seeing and exploring some key San Francisco area attractions at a comfortable pace. Don was an entertaining and knowledgeable tour guide. Highly recommend booking the ferry returned from Sausalito for a different view of the harbor, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the piers at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Fantastic trip from San Fran to enjoy the day in nature. Got to Muir Woods around 12.30pm, given until 2pm to return. Longest nature trail said 1 1/2 - 2 hour trail which was doable within 1hr 15 mins comfortably.
Muir Woods is stunning, highly recommend for visit.
Dropped off in Suasilito around 2.40pm, given option to return via coach at 3.45pm or ferry 4.30/6pm.
Only down fall is people turned up late to pick up in the morning which delayed us leaving by 25 mins. Just delayed time in woods.

Booked. Emailed with the guy. Went and driver tells us it's overbooked and we can't go. No one told us, even tho I emailed with the excursion person two hours prior. I call and he makes excuses like he's the only one working so he didn't know it was overbooked - a lie because the bus driver already knew from him. I said I even emailed with you and you didn't say we couldn't go, he lied and said he had not looked at bookings. All lies because the bus driver knew from him! No apology just an excuse he's the only poor soul working. How rough for him. Certainly not rough for us walking half a mile to pickup for the ONLY thing my kid wants to do and being rejected when we get there and have paid and have confirmation. Deplorable. I use visitor often but no more, they clearly cannot hire ethical people.

Well organized and excellent experience. The bus was new and clean with access to outlets. The driver was funny and informative. We had enough time in the Muir Woods and Sausalito. Would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in visiting both locations while visiting San Francisco. Really appreciated having this tour as an option, given that buses to Muir Woods were not available early in the year.

Overall, the tour was good; however, there is room for improvement.
1. The driver was knowledgeable, but his accent was sometimes difficult to understand.
2. If possible, the length of stay at Muir National Park could be increased.

The driver, Don Mertle, was excellent. Had good stories and drove the winding, twisty roads up Sausalito to Muir Woods without missing a beat. The woods, the tour, the ferry back to San Francisco and especially the Waymo cabs were great (look up the Waymo cabs; you gotta try them.)!

Beautiful woods with majestic trees. The road going to the woods is very curvy and a little scary especially traveling in a big bus. But our bus driver and narrator was very experienced and shared great information.

It was really great, accurate timing by the operator but I didn’t like we waited for a person like 15min and at the end they didn’t showed up, (waste of time).
Besides that incident, everything went as planned and amazing. I would definitely recommend.
Pd. They ask for like a 20%tip at the end, watch out with that one.
