    Pretty much as described

We didn't actually do this tour because the morning we arrived in the cruise port, they had canceled on us because we were the only ones who had booked the excursion. We were disappointed, flustered and frantic to get on another tour. They did arrange us to join another tour, and that one was great, but a little different. We noticed that most of the tours are going to the same locations for the dog sledding, so it was probably about the same. The staff was friendly and the dogs were fun to spend time with.

Thank you for your feedback, and I'm sorry for the disappointment of having your original tour canceled. As a small group operator, there are rare occasions when a tour doesn't receive enough bookings to operate. When that happens, I do my best to find guests an alternative experience so they don't miss out on visiting the musher camp while they're in Skagway. I'm glad I was able to arrange another tour for you and that you enjoyed the staff, the dogs, and the experience overall. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you had a wonderful visit to Skagway.

Due to medical emergency, I we were not able to participate in activity, even though we informed the leader the night before but Viator did not even consider partial refunds . This is very, unfortunate that they don’t even consider medical emergency as a reason for cancellation which can obviously happen without notice. Their leader, regardless was coming to pick up at the family members for excursion so our cancellation wouldn’t change their plan.

    Response from Host, Jul 2026

We're very sorry to hear that a medical emergency prevented part of your group from joining the tour, and we sincerely hope everyone is doing well. The evening before your tour, we adjusted our departure time by 30 minutes at your request to better accommodate your family's schedule. Unfortunately, we didn't receive notice that members of your party would be unable to attend until late that evening, after the schedule had already been changed and other guests had been contacted to accommodate the new departure time. We also weren't able to confirm who would or wouldn't be attending until the scheduled pickup time. As a small, reservation-based business, we reserve seats specifically for each booking, and with such short notice we were unable to resell the unused seats. While we certainly understand that emergencies happen, cancellations are handled according to the booking terms agreed to at the time of reservation, and Viator ultimately administers those policies. We truly wish your circumstances had been different and hope everyone has made a full recovery.
