TOUR PROVIDER: Skagway Tours CHECK-IN TIME: 15 minutes before your tour’s start time MEETING LOCATION: Bus loading area near your ship Your cruise ship will arrive at one of three locations in the Port of Skagway: the ORE Dock, BROADWAY Dock, or the RAILROAD Dock. 15 minutes before your tour, a Skagway Tours representative holding a red “Skagway Tours” sign will meet you at your dock’s bus loading area. IMPORTANT: Please do not use Google or Apple Maps, or the map link provided by Viator. These will send you to our office in town or the Harbor Master’s office. We pick you up at the bus loading area near your ship. PASSPORTS REQUIRED: This tour crosses the USA-Canada border twice. Passports are required. Guests without proper documentation will be denied participation with no refunds. For USA or Canadian citizens a government-issued ID and original birth certificate (no photocopies) are also valid for entry. VISAS. If you come from a country that needs a visa for Canada or the USA you will need to bring those in addition to your passport. IMPORTANT: Cruise line staff may incorrectly say passports are not needed in Skagway, AK. You MUST bring your passport or valid ID/birth certificate due to the border crossing.

Mostly a historical tour and photo op. Our guide Pam was the best. She kept us on time so we could make ALL of the stops and still get back to the cruise ship in time. Kudos to Pam.

The puppies were the highlight of the tour ! We got to cuddle them and take photos with them...well worth it ! They were too cute and friendly- all you needed to get their attention was a tiny treat !

This was a wonderful opportunity to get to Yukon and enjoy beautiful scenery. I appreciated Pam’s narration while we travelled and her willingness to stop for great photo ops. I’m glad I chose this over the train.

Excellent day in Skagway! Pam was a great guide and storyteller. She entertained us and provided great knowledge throughout the trip. The puppies were adorable and a highlight for my three kids. I loved the suspension bridge and the breathtaking scenery throughout the journey!

Highs -- Lots of beautiful scenery and appreciated the stops to get the good pictures, very cool to get pictures in front of the Welcome to Alaska and Yukon signs, the chili at the Suspension Bridge, the guide was knowledgeable and funny (he personally gets 5/5 stars!), got to see a bear on the road, and the guide did his best to give us the best view/pictures of the bear.
Lows -- Tagish Lake Kennel with puppy playtime and meet mushers & their teams -- Was very disappointed, as we were expecting to learn something about the dogs and the sport of dog sledding. There was no talk or educational activity. The only thing the workers said when we came in was that the kids can't pick up the puppies and that we should leave them alone if they are sleeping. That was it. Also, the puppies were not really into playing or being held. Not sure if this was because they'd already had too much that day, but overall, the experience was not positive. Even if the puppies weren't in the mood (they're animals, I get it), adding an educational or talk component to the experience could have made it into something amazing.
Food -- Very limited. This goes over the lunch hour, and it would have been good to warn people about the limited food options. Or, even plan ahead and provide an option for people to pay for food in town (that's ready when we need to leave). For the food options, the adults in our group had the chili at the suspension bridge, and while it looked a little wonky (not American chili), it tasted amazing (5/5 stars would do again). Otherwise, they had some snack packs (fruit, crackers, cheese) and cold sandwiches, along with candy bars, chips, and similar snacks. So basically, no hot food other than chili and limited cold lunch-type food. There were also some snacks at the dog sledding place, but it was just snacks again, no real food.
Be prepared for the bumpiest 5 hours of your life. I live out in the country and have been on some crazy roads, but the entire ride was insanely bumpy. Not sure if it was just the roads we were on or the suspension on the bus (otherwise, the bus was fine, no issues with the interior), but holy cow it was bananas, so come prepared!

We had a great day with D-hawk. Spectacular views on the entire drive and at the suspension bridge. We had the luck of getting to watch an adorable bear for a little while. It was right near the road and didn't leave when we stopped to take photos from the windows. The puppy encounter experience was underwhelming. I would recommend the version of this tour that is the bridge and summit without the dogs. There are too many people and the dogs are generally uninterested in interacting with people, especially by the afternoon.

Pam was are driver/guide and she was fantastic. Kept us on schedule and told us wonderful stories about the areas history through out the ride.

I booked this tour for my family and I. 6 of us had US passports and 1 had a Brazilian passport with a US and Canadian Visa. Upon arrival, we were told my brother in law from Brazil could not go because he did not have a paper Canadian visa. He had an electronic visa and the cruise we came in on was out of Vancourer Canada yet the tour company told us he could not go. Not only were we disappointed and frustrated since the website said nothing about this requirement...we requested a refund for my brother in law and the tour denied the request. What kind of company does that?
As for the tour, the tour guide Trey was good and tried his best to make the trip good for the 6 of us that went. He did remind us several times that he gets paid very little and tips are how he makes his living. We did tip him and tipped him well.
That said, we saw a bear and the scenery was amazing. The puppies were a bit of a disappointment. Many groups had come through already and the dogs had lots of treats and were tired so most slept in the dog house and did not come out. I suggest if you go...do one in the early morning so you get puppies that are active and want to play.
Based on the poor response to the request for a credit back for my family member that did not get to go I would suggest booking a different puppy excursion than through Skagway Tours.

Great experience. In one tour we got to visit the suspension bridge, Yukon Pass, and play with adorable puppies. The tour was very informative and well-paced. Highly recommend!

We were told that the owner of the mushing camp/kennel was a previous Iditarod winner, so we were looking forward to an interesting presentation, or at least an opportunity to ask questions. The owner was not present during our visit, and there was really no information available on mushing. It was no different than a visit to a dog kennel. Although this part of the excursion was a big disappointment, we enjoyed everything else, particularly our very engaging tour guide Mariah.

Mariah was a great tour guide! She was extremely knowledgeable and gave warnings when a great photo opportunity was coming up, slowing down the coach if she could to make sure everyone was able to catch the memory.

This was a great way to see the area above Skagway and learn more about the history. Drake was fantastic -knowledgeable and funny. He kept us entertained the entire time. I will note the puppies were from the local humane society and not Alaskan sled dog huskies, but they were still adorable and we did get to see the sled dogs they were training. The suspension bridge was unexpectedly great too. I would recommend the trip!

To be fair, Pam, our tour leader was fantastic. That being said, the company completely misrepresents what’s about to happen to you. We booked the tour to interact with husky puppies, there was zero interaction with husky puppies. When I say zero, I mean there was exactly no interaction with any huskies of any kind. You got to see them from a distance, and there was one in a cage near us.
The bridge was fun, but everything else was a disaster

The sled dog camp experience normally includes husky puppy interaction. Shortly before your visit, a parvovirus outbreak at the kennel and across much of the Yukon reduced the number of available puppies and required extra health precautions. The husky puppies that day were only two weeks old and too young for handling, so guests could see them but not interact directly.
Guests were still able to interact with other puppies at the camp. We provided a refund to reflect the difference from our normal offering. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us better inform future guests about potential variations due to health and safety factors beyond our control.

Nice tour, our driver found photo ops for us and stopped. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great scenery saw grizzly bears on the road, puppies, mush dogs and a suspension bridge!

Pam was great, very informative. Tour was good, beautiful scenery, many stops made for photo opportunities. Bridge was really cool too. The only negative is as of June 21st there are no Husky puppies available for interaction as this tour states there are. The kennels are currently sponsoring and socializing other breed puppies from humane society in hopes of getting them loving homes. The mixed breed puppies seemed really tired of people. We saw a few older retired Alaskan Huskies while there. There were some working Huskies that were pulling people around but we only saw them from a distance. It was mentioned there was a new litter behind the scenes and another on the way so perhaps later in the summer there will be husky pups. If the pups are the main reason for you booking this tour then look elsewhere for now.

Our guide Pam was very knowledgeable about the area and provided us with some history of the surrounding countryside. The views very breathtaking and Pam took time to make sure we would be the only bus at these most popular sites. Could have done without the Puppies trip, as the pups were from local shelters looking for adoption. Husky pups were just born and not on display. The Suspension Bridge was worth the stop , don’t forget to walk the whole boardwalk area, as views are different!

KJ was a fabulous tour guide. She had great stories of the town of Skagway and surrounding area. We enjoyed the scenery. Hanging out with the puppies was fun. They were awake and playful.

Not the best but not the worst. Dog camp was very disappointing. No guides or info just go into the mud hole to pet puppies. Bathroom is an outhouse. Snacks were $10 muffins. Tour guide was nice. Gave some general info but not a lot. Several quick stops for photos.

Trey paid me with the gold he found in Skagway to say his tour is the best and that he’s also smart and handsome. We learned so much you’d think he was a local! You can tell her loves his job and is very personable! The tour was great as well. We saw and learned so much about the area and topped it off with puppy snuggles!

Overall was a very nice tour. Our tour guide Pam was absolutely wonderful. She provided a lot of good information, history, stories and sense of humor throughout our scenic drive. Multiple scenic stops along the way which were lovely and lots of photo opportunities. The suspension bridge was fun and facilities were great. Now the most anticipated portion of the tour for our family was the puppies, but it was the biggest letdown. Our tour group was 50+ people and there was a smaller tour group there as well. So over 60 people all vying for the attention of maybe 5-6 active puppies, several were sleepy and stayed in their doghouses which understandable. The tour was listed as having husky puppies (future mushers) but we were told they were not ready for people interaction but they had puppies who were adoptable from the local humane society. So the tour was providing good socialization for those puppies. To get the puppies attention treats were available by way of donation. It was a quick 30 minute stop and my kids liked the puppies but was not the unforgettable experience we were looking forward to. However, every other part of the tour was wonderful.

The suspension bridge area was amazing and lots of fun. The puppies were so cute and adorable, you’ll want to take them all home. The scenery is breathtaking, we had an amazing time.
