Breathtaking Journey to Spirit Island

I visited Jasper National Park in mid-July with family and took the Maligne Lake Spirit Island Cruise. Although the weather was cloudy with light rain, it turned out to be one of the most beautiful and memorable boat journeys I’ve ever experienced. The combination of crystal-clear water, dramatic clouds, snow-capped mountain peaks peeking through the mist, and the reflections of the forests on the lake created breathtaking scenery throughout the trip. Every moment on the boat felt like a postcard. At the iconic Spirit Island, you get about 15 minutes to explore and take photos. Every angle is stunning, and it’s hard to take a bad picture. Even if you’re not a great photographer, the incredible natural backdrop makes every photo look amazing. If you’re visiting Jasper, this cruise is an absolute must-do. The peaceful atmosphere and spectacular scenery make it an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful Maligne lake and Jasper tour.

This is a great tour. We were able to see some wild animals on the way. The remnants from the wildfires on the previous years is part of the forest beauty. Boat tour on the Maligne lake is beautiful. Spirit island is just gorgeous. I would recommend this tour to everyone.

Wildlife with Sam--WOW!

Absolutely wonderful experience. Our guide, Sam, was the best. So knowledgable and so wanted us to see some wild life--which we did, a mountain goat, 2 bears up a tree, a moose (very close) and several elk (big). He spent extra time at the end to enable us to get pics of elk and offered to drop people off at restaurants or wherever. Can't say enough good things about Sam and this wildlife tour.

Wildlife!

It is a great experience. We went knowing it was likely we might not see any wildlife. Owen the driver/ guide made the entire trip so much fun. He worked hard to spot wildlife and we did! We spotted 3-5 elk, one male had a 6/7 rack, it was huge. We also spotted 3 moose, all female, one mule deer and 2 marmots. We were fortunate enough to see an osprey nest and a bald eagle nest with babies. Owen was knowledgeable, funny, and professional and knew a dozen or so bird calls! We took the afternoon bus with the hike. After 2 hours on the bus to get to Lake Maligne it felt so good to be out on a hike. Ask for Owen!

Awesome 3 hrs on a glacier

Just did the glacier tour with Heather. She was awesome. It was a very educational tour with interesting stories mixed in. We went high up on the glacier, close up within a safe distance to multiple crevasse,, drank out of the glacier run off. An amazing adventure. It was an effort but if you are in decent shape, you won’t have an issue. Much better than the big truck tours that only have 15 min on the ice.

Wear a bathing suit under your clothes!

This was our favorite tour of everything we have done in Canada! Molly was an excellent guide. Fred was a great driver and photographer. The rest of the staff was friendly too. When you arrive at the meeting point you board a bus to head to the river. It’s approx 10 min drive. I wish I had known to wear a bathing suit under my clothes. Everyone puts on wetsuits and booties for the tour (water was only 38 degrees F). You could put on the wetsuit over shorts but it doesn’t go over pants easily so your only option is to strip down to your underwear and t-shirt in front of a group of strangers. The people who wore bathing suits had the easiest time with stripping and then putting the wetsuit on over their bathing suits. Everyone was respectful so it wasn’t that big a deal, just a surprise. You leave your clothes, shoes, phone etc on the bus so you don’t have to worry about things getting wet (other than whatever you wear under the wetsuit). They take photos for you. 2 for $20 or $40 to have all emailed to you. I’d highly recommend this tour.

Great Experience

Tour guide was informative and friendly. Our family of 4 was with a group of about 10 people. It would be nice if there was a way to group people based on physical ability as a few people in our group were much slower and less physically fit, but we are aware that would be near impossible to arrange. Our guide, Ben, did teach us a lot about the glacier and area, though, when we took breaks for others to catch up. It was too early in the season to rappel into crevasses but it was an opportunity of a lifetime just to be able to hike the glacier. We ended up with a sunny day, but be prepared as it is cold and windy. Most of the other tours only went to a roped in area where this tour company allows you to hike up the whole lower glacier. Travel to the top of the world!

A fun ride to the top of the mountain. There are only two trams, moving in opposite directions, and my ride up was quite crowded. At the top, you can choose to hike up a rocky, snowy mountain, so be prepared for that! I opted to have a meal at the restaurant (which only serves food after 5:30). A fun activity and I would highly recommend.

A must do experience

Amazing experience. The bus driver Sophie and guide Chiara went above and beyond to make the experience special. Every detail was perfect. Walking on the glacier was the highlight of my 13 day trip Sam our ice Bus driver was also terrific. This is a must do and using Brewster company is a must.
