So much to do here! The house is only a small part of all the interesting things going on. Including a working blacksmith, a restaurant and an offsite distillery. Plan to spend an entire day!

Our family spent most of the day at Washington's Mount Vernon and enjoyed every minute. A lot of walking was included, but was well worth while because of so much history to see & experience and we didn't want to miss anything. The mansion mostly was closed for renovation, but the guides accommodated visitors to at least see a few downstairs rooms. All guides, displayers & demonstrators were great - knowledgeable, informative and responsive to all questions. One of the highlights was the tour of gristmill & distillery. We highly recommend this tour.

Nice trip. Be sure to visit the Grist Mill down the road. It is included, with your ticket. Since part of the main house was closed, it was nice they had a virtual house tour.

Visiting Mount Vernon was such a fun and memorable experience! Even though the mansion was under construction and only certain rooms were open, it was still fascinating to tour and step back in time. The grounds were beautifully maintained, and the staff was wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. There was certainly a lot of information to take in, which made the visit all the more enriching. We also enjoyed the nice gift shop and the on-site restaurant, which added to the experience. Overall, a fantastic visit that I’d highly recommend!

Mount Vernon was beautiful! We were able to take the Hamilton tour. I don’t remember the tour guide name, but he was very knowledgeable a true historian! And all honesty everyone there or historians young and old they knew their stuff it’s amazing how so many people in so much history is connected with Mount Vernon!

Love this high quality historical place! Everyone was knowledgeable, helpful and kind! But… the shuttle service was an issue. Didn’t pick up where indicated near the 16-sided barn. Waited 30 minutes in the shade and had to call to get assistance. My mother is 89 so using the shuttle gave her access to all the exhibits. It was a hot humid day.

Do not go wait until they finish all of the renovations you hardly saw anything. It’s a waste of time disappointing.

Only 2 rooms available for viewing. Renovation to be completed in November. We did see the wreath laying at George Washington's tomb. The Potomac River, movie and a virtual tour of the mansion. Haven't had time to look at it yet. Bought some souvenirs and had a light lunch at the food court.

We bought the pass to wander the grounds but didn’t realize until a helpful Mount Vernon employee from the help desk approached us and told us our entry also included the Virtual Mansion Tour as well as the mansion itself. She told us to get these tickets at the entrance box office which we are so thankful we did. We lucked out with a beautiful 80 degrees day with the cherry blossoms in full bloom along with lots of other Spring nature around us, including precious baby sheep frolicking. The mansion has some construction going on which gaves us the opportunity to see some of the underlying structures from long ago. You can see why Washington valued so highly the Potomac River views and its resources. It was so fascinating learning about the many innovational ideas that came about here. The docents are very informative as well as all of the people helping throughout Mount Vernon. It was a very informative inspiring relaxing day.

Really appreciated the virtual tour of the mansion rooms that were not available to view! Guides great!

“This is the only time in the next century you will see this.” Mount Vernon is going through renovations and you can see the exposed woodwork and architecture of the mansion. This is a limited edition experience is worth it.

It was good. The thing I would ask you to change is the way you list this tour. It only gave a tour time of 9 am, which was hard to get out there in morning traffic. Upon arriving & checking in, I was told there wasn’t an actual tour at that time but probably list as that’s opening time. That was a frustrating. I was then given a choice of times to start the virtual & walking mansion & grounds tour. Ticket times should correspond to when (virtual) tours start so people may choose a time that works for them, leading to more ticket sales. (This was written during the mansion renovation so a virtual tour was added to see the parts closed due to the renovation.)

The guided tour was good, I was disappointed that most of the house was closed nut that's understandable.

I know the history surrounding General Washington and I knew what to expect when I purchased the tickets. I was very disappointed when we were told that most of the mansion is closed to visitors and even more disappointed when I found out that the key to the Bastille, one of the most emblematic artifact of the estate, and one that I wanted to see, is located in a closed section and therefore, is hidden to visitors. These important pieces of information should be disclosed in advance of purchase.

Grounds are beautiful. Employees we encountered were not enthusiastic about their jobs, with the exception of the lady at the front gate she was very welcoming. We expected to hear about Washington’s legacy and the sacrifices he made to form this country and the important meetings he had at Mount Vernon, instead all we heard was how poorly he treated the people he enslaved. Very disappointed with the lack of respect shown to our founding father.
Kayleen_L, May 2024
Sham. This experience was $28, but doesn’t get you into the house. That’s extra, we went there and for the same price we got the tickets and were able to go into the house.
Sharon_T, Apr 2024
The mansion is gorgeous with an amazing view of the Potomac. The guide at the entrance of the mansion was informative and able to answer all my questions.
John_B, Apr 2024
Excellent! Highly recommended by me, we spent almost the entire day between the guided and self-guided tours. The re-enactors were very good. The available lunch in the restaurant (not the food court) was also very tasty and reasonably priced. All in all, well worth the visit. We also did the included distillery tour, which was short and about 3 miles from the estate. We still didn’t see everything. Excellent!

Came to visit George Washington’s home with grandma and grandkids. What a great experience to share with both generations. Love the views of the Patomic, but then again, so did Washington.

I had a memorable and exciting day at Mount Vernon. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. You learn a lot about George Washington’s estate. Pics come out great.

Wonderful experience. A must see if you’re in the area. We stopped here after visiting Washington DC as we headed to colonial Williamsburg.
Charles_L, Oct 2023
Historical experience of the home and grounds. There are crowds of visitors almost any time of the day and day of the week.
Kathy_W, Jun 2023
The guides at each station knew there information well. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The fife player was very knowledgeable about the flutes and played them well.
David_S, May 2023
Going through the house an sitting on the porch viewing the Potomac River. Also, hearing about the construction of the Home
Bernadette_B, Apr 2023
The line for the day pass is too long especially with children. The grounds are like heaven. Will go back with a private tour only next time

We are Homeschooling our little one and it was great to see hoe excited she was to experience our history. While eating our fantastic dinner at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant, we asked our daughter what her favorite part was and she replied, "All of it!". She is 9 and she loves learning about our history. I think all the kids out there should get to experience Mount Vernon!
Donna_L, Apr 2023
Museum was great with details surrounding Washington’s youth, marriage, family, faith and service to the country. The expansive grounds are beautiful with two well kept enormous gardens and the restoration of the home was wonderful to see. Allow plenty of time- full day, to take it all in.
Karen_L, Mar 2023
Excellent tour of the house. The grounds were well maintained and signage informative. The added entertainment of the fife and drum musicians in uniform on the lawn was excellent.
Gisele_D, Sep 2020
The scenic view from the back of the mansion is just wonderful.
Being able to see how people were living back in a days when GW was in charge is just amazing.
Due to Covid19 we were not allowed to go pass the Mansion first floor for the tour. Nevertheless, the time spent there overall was greatly appreciate. Educationally worthed!
