Overview
Step into one of history's most dramatic nights—tracing Lincoln's final hours through Civil War-era D.C. Unlike rushed, generic museum visits, this guided tour takes you inside Ford's Theatre and the Petersen House with reserved access, revealing hidden details and untold stories. You see the theatre booth where the President was shot, stand in the very room where Lincoln drew his last breath, and more. This 2-hour small-group tour offers an intimate look at these historic sites.
Please note: Between May 28 and August 31, Ford's Theatre closes its interior to tour groups for repairs. During this summer window, we adapt the route to feature alternative historic sites that keep the narrative moving. Regardless of the season, your journey will always include the Petersen House, Baptist Alley, the Star Saloon, and the imposing exterior of Ford's Theatre.
- Entry into all mentioned sites is included in the cost of booking

It was a great tour and our guide knew so much history about the town and also Lincoln. We were able to see the FORD theater and the Peterson house where Lincoln had died and the museum. Highly recommend this tour!
Wonderful tour! Dash was our guide and was so informative! He made the entire experience fun and would highly recommend!
Light walking, very interesting tour about the night Lincoln was assassinated. Tour includes Ford’s theater, museum in theater, and Peterson House

My tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We walked quite a bit to see the things that we saw, so I recommended to wear comfortable shoes. I learned a lot and enjoyed it.

Awesome tour guide. She knew the subject matter and was very engaging. Tour was a little shorter than expected but all good.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thanks for joining us and thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback! The tour typically runs about 2 hours however when there is only one group, as was the case on your tour, sometimes things move a little faster based on the pace of the group and less time on questions from other groups.
A great way to learn very detailed facts about our history while still being fun and intriguing. Skye was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thanks for coming Kathy! It was great to have you all along!

Riley was outstanding! She delivered interesting facts relevant to the exhibit and provided the underlying context as well. She was able to answer all of our questions (we had a lot) in a happy, calm, and pleasant manner. She was easy to understand and checked with us when a session was over to make sure we “got everything”. She controlled the pace of the tour, ensuring we were not late for anything, without rushing.
There is nothing I can think of to criticize - no “constructive criticism”, because everything was outstanding. My whole family shares this perspective.
The exhibits themselves were also well-done and well-presented.
The overall experience was wonderful.
Skye was so wonderful. Our tour group was smaller, with only three of us, and she was great! Very knowledgeable. So sweet. Great tour!
Response from Host, Aug 2026
Thanks so much for coming! It was a pleasure having such a small group, and I'm glad you enjoyed the experience! Let us know if you come back again!

This tour was awesome! Skye was so wonderful and personable! She was so knowledgeable about Lincoln’s last day! We highly recommend this tour! We lucked out and were able to see Ford’s theater! The Petersen House is filled with many interesting artifacts!

I loved having your family along! I'm so glad we could get inside the Theater, especially for Dawson! Hope to see you again in the future! -Skye
The tour Guide Shane was incredible. His story telling is top shelf. Learned way more than expected and answered all our questions.
I had the best tour guide, Riley. She was so friendly. So informative. Full of knowledge and funny. Ask for her if she's available!
You can't go into Ford's theater. Riley the tour guide was great. A way to learn a lot about Lincoln's assassination
Great tour. We really enjoyed all the details. It was just the right amount of walking and information. Everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Very informative and entertaining! I learned a lot!! Our tour guide Dash was extremely knowledgeable!
I recommend this tour. The guide was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and friendly. The street tour was as good as the theater and Peterson house.
Good pace, detailed info documenting myth from truth. Upbeat knowledgeable guide, Shane communicated well and kept us on schedule.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for the awesome review! We love separating myth from truth on our Lincoln Assassination tour. Shane is a fantastic guide, and we're so glad his upbeat energy and deep knowledge of Washington DC history kept the tour educational, entertaining, and right on schedule. Thanks for visiting Ford's Theatre and the Petersen House with us!
Only complaint was more time at Ford theatre museum portion would have been nice but hard to do with structured your, I get it. Extremely entertaining and formidable guide. Very well done and money well spent.
One other note: it is NOT a private tour. Prior to our tour we had to listen to some blowhard woman and her husband whine about how it was supposed to be. We also booked online and it most definitely does NOT say that. Hopefully the company stayed strong and didn’t refund them because they were wrong. Bunch of babies.
How’s that for direct?
Response from Host, May 2026
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for your feedback and support!
The theatre only allows guests a limited time in the museum and require everyone to exit after 20-30 minutes, something we wish could change as some would like more time to explore the exhibits. A good note for anyone exploring Ford's Theatre whether with us on on their own.
We appreciate your support on the other matter. We found her comments insulting to our other guests, such as yourself. I am glad this didn't put a damper on your day!
I hope you can join us for another tour while in town.
Cheers!
Liam
First hour of tour is walking to Ford’s Theater. Walking through the actual theater where President Lincoln was assassinated gives you chills, and the entire experience is presented with incredible care and historical detail.

The tour was awesome and very informative. A nice pace but not too rushed and the perfect amount of time overall. Dash is a historian and the best storyteller if you can request him I’d highly recommend it!
