Fake News From Driver

Lori_P, Jun 2026
The Mount Vernon tour was wonderful but the driver was ignorant. No air in the van and why he'd bring up the riot if January 6th as an insurrection nobody responded to or wanted to hear about. How about get your facts straight if you're going to bring up politics?

Mount Vernon half day Tour was AMAZING!!

Lorie_J, Apr 2026
Our tour guide was amazing. He was knowledgeable and interesting. And it was his birthday!! Everything was great!

I would not recommend this tour until construction/repairs of the mansion are complete

Ernesto_D, Apr 2025
I would not go to this tour until they are done with the construction/ repairs of the George Washington Mansion. Had I known they were working on the house with a few rooms closed, I would not have paid $200.00 for this tour!

Don’t bither

Nancy_S, Mar 2025
Horrible. 1. The house was closed for renovations. No notice of closure at the viator site. I Wasted 5 bourse of precious time in DC. 2. There was no tour of Alexander. The driver raced tho the road. . Saddly He was not very knowledgeable the worse aviator trip I have ever taken

Vert pretty and well preserved

KimberlySnody, Dec 2024
Great bus ride knowledgeable driver. Worth booking the Alexandra add on. Even though Mt vetnon has contrition at this time you still see a lot with the guided tour

Do not do this tour

KateIda_L, Nov 2024
Do not go on this tour. The Mansion is under renovations and you can only see one room for a few minutes. The driver was aggressive and rude, demanding a tip 'with a zero on the end of the note' before we got off the bus. The tickets are $20 to get in. This is essentially an absolutely ripped off drive. The tour operators never told us we couldn't view the mansion as it was under renovation. The driver maintained he knew nothing about it, even though he does the tour twice a day. He demanded to know where all passengers were going that evening in order to try to get us to buy another tour that night in the city. It was awkward and rude. I have requested a refund. Get an uber or a bus and go yourself. This is an absolute rip off and the service promised was not delivered. The mansion will be ready in 2026. Don't waste your time or money unless you are happy not to see the main attraction. Absolutely do not pay for this 'tour' which is essentially a trip in a van to the location and then a pick up. Worst tour I've ever been on and most disgusting tour guide I've ever come across.

Do not waste your money

angwaters79, Nov 2024
Do not go on this tour. We paid $150 Australian dollars for this tour, when we could and should have just taken a public bus or Uber. The house was closed for renovation which we were not informed of until we arrived at the front gate, when the driver said that the house is undergoing renovations however he does not know what that means. Considering that he said that they do two tours a day to mt Vernon that seems very hard to believe that he did not know the house was closed prior to driving us there. The driver was rude and essentially demanded a tip before we departed the bus. Which we did not give, we thought we had already wasted enough money

Dismal

Rhonda_M, Nov 2024
This tour should not have been sold. The mansion is under renovation. We saw one room. We arrived too late to see the main buildings of the estate or the wharf. Only had 39 minutes in museum. It was a RIPOFFF!!!!

Not sure it was worth it

Randi_R, Nov 2024
This tour is a little pricey - you can definitely do it on your own for cheaper. It's basically a bus ride to Mount Vernon which really isn't that far from DC and your entrance ticket.

Mt Vernon visit

Cecil_H, Jul 2024
The tour guide was very knowledgeable.. Mr Vernon itself was very interesting and well presented. One complaint was that the tour narrative was very disjointed. Too many people giving only a small part of the information constantly interrupted by the constantly moving crowd. Continuity suffered and question did not to mind with the story line easily. Preferred the process of one continuous tour guide tying the storyline together.. All in all would recommend.

Go on your own

Christina_Z, May 2024
Let me start by saying if you want to go to Mount Vernon, go - just go on your own. This was a wonderful experience. The grounds are beautiful and rich in history and culture. And there is soooo much to see and do there. It's better not to be restricted by time. Robert was our guide and he was good, but he mostly talks on the way there and back. Most of it is interesting, but Mount Vernon is done on your own. When they say you "pass by" Robert E Lee's house, they aren't joking. I didn't even see it because he was telling us where it was as we were passing it, so if that's an interest for you, I'm sure that you can find it on your own and actually get some pics. And Alexandria is just driving around and him pointing out stores and restaurants, not really anything of interest. This is also something you can do on your own. I would totally go to Mount Vernon again, but I would not do this tour.

Change the attitude

Susan_M, Apr 2024
Our driver was not in the designated pick up area. We had to find him. He had a bad attitude while driving. He was honking at other drivers and rolled through stop signs. When he stopped at a light he always stopped in the crosswalk. The information he provided was nice, but the actual drive would have been much better without the attitude.

A good tour

CHRISTINE_M, Oct 2023
This tour is run by very good folks who look after their guests very well. I recommend this tour to everyone.

A must see

Deborah_D, May 2023
Bus driver / guide excellent .. great info given to us .. very knowledgeable snd informative .. great !

Trip to Mt Vernon

David_B, May 2023
Our driver was well informed and funny. Perhaps stay away from political discussion though. Otherwise we really appreciated his local knowledge.

Amazing experience.

Travis_J, Apr 2023
Tour of the grounds and mansion was amazing and educational. The drive was erratic and at times tense.

Not enough time.

Ninette_F, Apr 2023
Amazing Property and History. Was disappointed in the staging of the Mansion. Dont expect to be able to see it all. This event is really a whole day event. We only got to really see a third of the property in the time alotted. Great tour of Alexandria afterwards. Excellent drive/tour guide.

March 28 tour with Zohery driver Robert

Laura_C, Apr 2023
Our van driver Robert was very helpful. He checked our personal wheelchair with hotel staff; procured one for us once at Mt. Vernon. Due to our physical limitations, we could not get to as many parts of the estate we would have liked. It would have been cool and helpful if there was a faster mode of transportation such as an electric cart, or something, which could have ferried us to places such as the tomb and cemetery. It was nice that the bottom level of the mansion was accessible with ramps. Myself being visually impaired, I would have liked the opportunity to touch more of the architecture--fire places, mantlepieces, etc. People on the tour with us were also very helpful with pushing my friend's chair from time to time.

Great tour

April_C, Mar 2023
The bud tour guide was wonderful, I would recommend taking the early tour as ours was the 2:00pm and we were 20minutes late being picked up and there was a long line to tour Washington house and the grounds closed at 4:00 so that’s all of MT Vernon that we got to see that evening, however my group was very impressed by the knowledge and history that was given by the bus tour guide and so I gave 5 stars!! Will be taking another tour back again when in town next!

Living in past history

linda_w, Oct 2022
Seeing the mansion snd the replication of a past time in history. Glad to have time to explore snd grounds and see the vastness of the estate

Donald_R, Aug 2022
It was a very nice pleasant drive to Mt. Vernon. We enjoyed the tour of Alexandria. The driver was helpful and fun.

The slave quarters were...

Sharon_S, Jun 2022
The slave quarters were hoorible but it helped me to understand it better. Thanks for showing it instead of covering it up

Good tour

Christy_C, Jun 2022
Seeing the estate for the first time with my dad and son; Revolutionary War video; Slave cemetery; our tour guide was entertaining and very informative

Issue very rough ride ac not working. Well

Ann_O, Jun 2022
The bus needs new shocks and ac not working well. Rob was a wealth of knowledge!! Enjoyed the tour of Mt.Vernon and Richmond

Disappointed

Rick_W, May 2022
We were unaware that it was not a guided tour it was basically a ride to Mount Vernon and then a ride to Arlington cemetery where we then had to find her own way home very disappointing for the price that I paid for this

The most memorable part...

Shirley_C, Apr 2022
The most memorable part was learning about George Washington’s personal life and his battle tactics.

Expensive One Way Ride Tour!!!

Kim_L, Apr 2022
Our tour driver was nice and he gave us some history and pointed out some famous buildings along our way to Mount Vernon and Alexandra Town. The tour of George Washington home was great and we enjoyed the history and the beautiful home and sceneries of the property. We only wish it wasn’t so rushed during the guided tour of the house. They rushed us from room to room and was not very informative. We upgraded our tour with Arlington Cemetery so I asked our driver if I could leave my heavy gift bags that we bought from the GW museum on the bus he said No. He said his tour was over and he left. We were surprised and upset because we had paid for the round trip tour and thought he would of drop us back at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at the end of the Arlington Cemetery tour. This was very misleading in the description of the tour because it advertised a round trip pickup and drop off. If I had known it was just a one way ride there I wouldn’t of paid $119 pp for basically driving us there. Uber would of been a cheaper option.

Glad we went

Bruce_A, Apr 2022
Nice cool day, no large crowds, great food options, adequate bathrooms/locations; educational. Humbling to walk where he did.

Unfavorable, Unprofessional

Vanessa_P, Mar 2022
Zohery Tour company was disorganized, late & had unclean tour transportation. We had to take an Uber to our first tour destination because the tour guide, Joe, was running 2 hours late. Then we were told he would be waiting for us at 12:30pm for pick up and he still had us wait 20 minutes for him to pick us up ( we were the only ones on the tour). The van was very dirty and covered with animal hair. Lastly, we were told we would have to get a ride with another tour company back to hotel four hours later. Moreover, we were told incorrect information about the closing times of Mt Vernon, which resulted in the order of a much more expensive Uber as we didn’t wish to wait in the cold and rain for an extra hour to get a ride with other tour group.

The Washington tour is...

Roxana_H, Mar 2022
The Washington tour is great. The issue was that we booked the 5 hour tour at 2 pm but we had to wait 30 minutes to leave the hotel because the tour guide came late. Then they said that we would first pass by old Alexandria, so we arrived at 3:00 pm to the Washington house. At 4:30 pm they asked us to start leaving the area, so we couldn't see much from the entire place. . I wish I could have more time. The house closed at 5 pm. We only has 1 1/2 hour from the 4 hours we thought we will have. That wasn't enough.
