Good tour, read for a tip on meeting place

Wendy_T, Aug 2026
This is a great tour that I've been on multiple times over a few decades. The stories/script are somewhat changed by the current administration's muzzle on presenting inclusive history. One caveat: these tickets actually funnel you onto Arlington National Cemetery's tram/trolley tour. There's nothing wrong with that, except that it's confusing when you try to find "Historic Tours of America" in the pickup area.

Adequate Tour of Arlington

Sheila_H, Jul 2026
This tour was good for three out of the four sites in the cemetery that we wanted to see. However, when I booked this tour, it stated that there would be 6 to 8 stops along the route. There were only three. Consequently, since we really wanted to see the Marine Corps Memorial we had to walk from the visitor center there and back. Hot and tiring! Also, it was hard to hear the narration because the mic was full of static. It was also hard to see the graves/monuments pointed out because of the trolley speed & clarity of the narration. The signage in the park was not very clear and with the construction it didn’t make it any clearer. (I realize that construction is not the tour people‘s fault.) Overall, the tour was good, but I was a bit disappointed.

Poor servixe

Cemetery was beautiful, but we waited an hour from a pick up at the eternal flame in 90 degree weather.

Kyle_W, Jul 2026
Worth getting. We have four children under 12 and it was the third day of our trip of a lot of walking. So it was nice to ride around and get some knowledge of the cemetery that you wouldn't get just walking the grounds.

Belinda_D, Jul 2026
The tour guide, Michael, narrated very well! The tram ride was wonderful! The wait time was perfect for hopping on and off!

Good Experience

setr521, Jul 2026
The tour was great. We got to see everything that we wanted to and the trams came pretty regularly. There was only one spot that didn’t have a sign and so it was difficult to know where we were supposed to go back to to meet the tram. Take a picture of your paper ticket just in case you lose it while you’re out and about. The guides were very knowledgeable about everything and they were easy to hear.

Nice but a little disappointed

Dovel_B, Jul 2026
Everything was nice. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was extremely hot and the Arlington house wasn’t available to tour because they didn’t have any AC. I brought my mom because I had told her about the spectacular view of the city up there. They didn’t even take us up there at all. I think that was a little messed up. My mom will probably never get another chance to experience that.

Convenient - recommend

E_O, Jul 2026
It's hilly and covers a huge area, also steps. Saved a lot of walking. for us - 2 seniors but we are in good shape! Recommend. Spoke with woman who did walking tour and she said she would advise trolley!

Prepare to spend a few hours at Arlington. Wear good walking shoes. Enjoy the spectacular views. Learned a lot.

Worth it.

Janet_I, Jul 2026
Long line at each stop. Sometimes hard to hear the tour guide. Not always clear where to go or where to catch the next tram. But still worth it, since Arlington is so big.

Great Experience

Karen_H, Jul 2026
Even with the record temperatures the staff was great. They ensured that people were staying in the shade when possible

Positive experience

Kate_J, Jul 2026
It was good. Trams ran regularly. Beautiful visit. Only minor issue is the tram only made three stops and we thought it made a lot more. Would don’t again bc the place is huge and it would be a LOT of walking.

Interesting Tour!

Heather_E, Jul 2026
Even on the hop on/hop off tour, you should plan on walking a lot! But, a wonderful experience and a wealth of information!

Enjoyed Arlington but weekend routes are different, be aware.

Barb_H, Jul 2026
We booked for a Sunday but were not told and didn’t see it on website that the weekend schedule at Arlington is different. The route is much different on a weekend and a lot of what we had hoped and thought we had paid for, was not included. It was too hot to walk which was the reason we paid for the trip. The narrator was excellent and we learned a lot on the tour that we did get.

Horrible experience

Elizabeth_C, Jul 2026
It was horrendous. What was portrayed to us was that we were touring Arlington cemetery. Instead the bus took us into the middle of Washington DC no hopping on and hopping off if we wanted to, which we didn’t. And then because it was 4 o’clock the bus went out of service and left us there. No communication no nothing. I have my two elderly parents with me in the middle of Washington DC our car was parked at Arlington with all of our luggage in it. We had to get an Uber back to Arlington before 5 o’clock because they close at that time. It was horrendous and I will be asking for a refund.

We truly were amazed and the beauty and the dedication shown by all involved in the upkeep of the cemetery. We enjoyed being able to use the bus to go from place to place.

Convenient travel and visit at your own pace. Everyone is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Recommend.

Relaxing and informative

Francine_V, Jun 2026
You’re free to walk around as long as you want . The trolly arrives every 15 minutes or so. . Your guide should point you in the right direction for various burial areas. Pay for parking at the gate, not inside parking garage

Teresa_L, Jun 2026
It was definitely worth the cost. I just wish we had more than 3 stops for picture opportunities at Important sites

Trouble

Colleen_R, Jun 2026
Hop on after tour started was not easy or timely. While the second tour bus we hopped on was an excellent guide, I still felt they needed more buses working- long wait times

great

Larry_F, Jun 2026
Great experience seeing the tomb of unknown soldier doing their March and wreath ceremony and museum inside

Nancy_V, Jun 2026
The only problem was my ticket got cancelled and I had to purchase another one there - I don’t understand why.. but it worked out ok and the tour was great

Scammed

Beth_H, Jun 2026
The tour that was booked cost us $300. They said they were not affiliated with Viater and Smithsonian tours were free admissiom. Would not honor tickets. We were charged for something we didn't even need. If not refunded, I will be contacting Better Business Burea

The walk to the changing...

Autumn_B, Jun 2026
The walk to the changing of the guard was posted to take at least 20 minutes. We visited the weekend of June 6th and it was sweltering. The tram gave us a nice ride, with knowledge of things I would not have learned had we simply walked, and I enjoyed the silk poppy at the end.

Good tour overall but some snags

Lawrence_B, Jun 2026
Overall good. Seating on the tram was odd, had to face backwards at times and couldn't see where you were going. Forced to sit to fill the tram, so it messed up family seating. Some spots were just driven by so you didn't get to benefit from seeing them up close.

Best way through Arlington!

Kristen_P, Jun 2026
This was the very best way to experience Arlington! You will learn so much that you wouldn't otherwise. Very interesting information about the history and who is there.

Great tribute to our fallen

Hamp_V, Jun 2026
Very informative but some of the graves referred to in the tour could not be seen from the tram. It is a great way to get around a very large area.

Nancy_B, May 2026
Very educational although I was not aware that it all closes down at 4 so we were not able to see the house.

The Best Way to See Arlington

Rick_H, May 2026
Very friendly staff. I have been to Arlington before, once walking and another time driving. This was by far my best experience. I saw what I needed to see, and there was plenty of time to explore the gravesites on my own, before jumping back on the next trolley.
