Great tour! Learned so much about the Mission District and San Francisco history. Bonus
viewing the murals with the food tour!

Our tour guide, Jamie, was fantastic! A local, knowledgeable guide who gave a great tour. Plenty of yummy food, and loved seeing the beautiful murals and hearing the history of the area. Highly recommend this tour!

Tour operator charged my credit card and then cancelled the tour hours before it was scheduled to start (when we had already started making our way to the area). I have been contacting them repeatedly but have still not even received a refund. We had one day in San Francisco and were really looking forward to this as part of our plans. I understand things come up but the last minute change and now having to waste so much time trying to get my money back is ridiculous. Avoid this tour company!

We apologize for the frustration you’ve experienced. We understand how disappointing this situation must have been, especially with limited time in San Francisco. Refunds are typically processed promptly, but it seems there may have been an issue. We recommend reaching out to Viator directly for further assistance, as they handle these transactions. Thank you for your patience.

Tour guide had emergency so cancelled close to time to be there. Replied for refund and they nicely said had to contact Viator. Called Viator. They are ‘awaiting confirmation’ even though they spoke with same person I did. Now have to wait for exchange of emails as no refund if under 24 hr notice. So even though guide cancelled, having to fight for refund. Not respecting my time or money. Then got text that we hadn’t checked in. Seriously?
Response from Host, Dec 2024
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We understand your frustration with the situation and are sorry for the confusion regarding the refund process. Unfortunately, Viator's policy requires confirmation before processing refunds under certain conditions. We truly value your time and money, and we appreciate your patience as this matter is resolved.

I had really wanted just a mural tour of the Mission District but couldn't find one to fit the timing with my other tour itineraries. So I booked this tour as the next best thing and what I got was waaaayyyy better than I would have ever imagined and totally one of the most magical experiences of my time in San Francisco!
I can't say enough about the food which was primarily Latino dishes. We ate from the best 'mom & pop' places cooking traditional meals that were divine! Superb tacos, tortillas, burritos and pastries. I had the most delicious tamales I ever had in my life on this tour! They were so good, I also bought extras to take back to my hotel too!
My tour guide, Jamie was the epitome of both professionalism and fun! He knew all the insights and knew so many people around the areas where we walked.
He knew all the best mural spots to take great photos, which is a total plus if you're posting to social media! He told the background stories, the politics and the controversies of the works along our walk. It wasn't so much a commentary as an eye-opening experience of the culture of the area and wider San Francisco (both good and bad).
The highlight for me was meeting muralists Roberto & Xochitl Guerrero in the process of painting their latest mural along Balmy Alley! We spent a good amount of time chatting with them; I learned so much and didn't want to leave!
I loved this tour because Jamie was equally passionate about art, food and his neighbourhood, so it was great to see it through his eyes!
He tailored it to my needs too. It was a lot of food so in most places I ate half of the dish and requested the rest be packed up. These half-eaten treats became my dinner in the evening which helped me relive the amazing experience I had enjoyed earlier in the day!
He also offered to take my photos being a solo traveller which was far nicer than taking selfies!
He was a very caring guide and sensitive to one's needs; whether it be walking on the shadier / sheltered side of the street when it was too hot or regular bathroom stops. He also made sure that my return transport was organised before leaving at the end of the tour. I saved a lot using the train than taking a taxi to Union Square thanks to his advice!
I would absolutely do this tour again on a future trip to San Francisco!
I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn about the Mission District and delve into its unique culture, food and vibe!
This was honestly the best experience I had during my visit to San Francisco!

Jamie did a great job on our tour of the Mission District. He took us to 3 authenic Mexican Restaurants, provided us with historical facts of the area, pointed out distinctive architecture and showed us several magnificant street murals. A must do tour when visiting San Francisco!

The food and mural tour in the San Francisco's Mission District was an unforgettable fusion of creativity and culinary delights. From exploring local art to savoring diverse dishes, every moment was a celebration of culture and community. Engaging with the small businesses and local eats made the experience truly exceptional. I highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking a unique and enriching journey through the heart of the Mission District.
Our tour guide, Seth, was a captivating storyteller and expert navigator of the city's hidden treasures. His personalized approach and genuine connections with local artisans made the tour an unforgettable adventure. I highly recommend any tour led by this exceptional guide for an enriching and delightful journey through the heart of the Mission District. Thanks Seth!

We had a great time exploring SF’s Mission district with Seth. Having lived here for years, our eyes were opened to a whole new part of town we really didn’t know much about. Seth was engaging, professional and his passion for the food and culture of the SF mission was palpable and infectious. Highly recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and the food we had. Seth is a highly knowledgeable guide who spoke with passion of someone who truly cares about this neighborhood. The Mission murals are a tough and sensitive subject but Seth knew how to approach it with grace! Highly recommended for anyone wishing to step outside the usual tourist hotspots!!

Eric did an amazing job of showing us the Mission District - sampling authentic local cuisines and exploring the vibrant art mural scene. We learned about female artists’ works located in Balmy Alley. We loved hearing about cultural history of this dynamic and friendly neighborhood of San Francisco. All of the foods we had were delicious. Highly recommend this tour!

First and foremost, Eric our guide is very passionate person who has extreme love for his community. He really know the background, history and stories of San Francisco and the art of the Mission district... but this is not a food tour. It is more of an art tour of the murals in that area and for the price I paid, I expected a lot more. You pay on here for the tour but when you arrive at the tour, you will have to pay an extra $20 to get food and we only went to two restaurants and the food was below average. If you're looking for a food tour, this is not it. An art tour, yes.
Zach_B, Feb 2022
The mission is really cool. Lots of interesting murals and Eric our guide was both informative and entertaining. The food was certainly yummy and local to the neighborhood, but this wasn't a FOOD tour as much as an arts and culture tour with some good food.
