We really enjoyed the audio tour. They had very helpful information and suggested places that we wouldn't have known about. We particularly enjoyed the Ke'Anea peninsula, several lookouts, the arboretum and food trucks in Nahiku (monster fish taco) that were recommended.. We really enjoyed the tour and also some Hawaii history as we returned.

This was a great app! We were able to at our own pace do the road to Hana. It had great relaxing Hawaiian music and great narration that allowed us to spend the time we wanted where we wanted at a very reasonable price! We loved it!
Amazing way to experience the Road to Hana and not miss a thing!!
Deborah_C, Apr 2026
This was worth its money for sure!! The guide was clear about every turn and every site to see. You were able to skip an area or attraction if you wanted to and it always gave you timelines so you could be sure to make it back to your home base when you wanted to. In addition you are given an audio story telling of the history of each area. Down time can be filled with chill Maui music from the audio tour. On the way back you are given a full history of the Hawaiian Islands from the very beginning and specifically the history of Maui. We were able to spend as little or as much time at each attraction and the tour would pick back up once in the car.
Be sure to pack food, water, towels, bathing suits, sunscreen and a change of clothes.
Absolutely Fabulous

This self guided tour is amazing. It's well planned out and the narrator is great. We like the GPS knowing where we were and what we skipped
Good app and tour could use a few tweaks
Alyson_G, Apr 2026
We had some issues with audio, sometimes it wouldn’t play thru Apple car play. Also they should have an option to lower the volume when the back ground music plays. The music was nice but doesn’t need to be as loud as the audio but it’s a pain to turn your stereo volume down when the music is playing then quickly turn it back up when he starts giving directions again. Overall it was a good tour and hit everything we wanted to see along the way.

We had several kids in our vehicle and all of them were completely silent listening to the stories on the recording. They've even talked about the stories that were told since we've been home. I highly recommend this guide.

Total Waste of Money
Jeffery_K, Mar 2026
This did not work very well at all. Total waste of money. Tried to start up numerous times and it never worked as advertised.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Aloha Jeffery!
That's definitely not the seamless, joyful start we want anyone to have with us, and we're truly sorry it didn't work as advertised after you tried to start it up numerous times.
We really aim to make sure everyone gets to experience the aloha we share, and we're concerned that this wasn't your experience. Since you snagged your tour through Viator, the best and quickest path to help or a refund is usually right through your Viator ticket.
But please, if you'd like us to take a deeper dive into what happened, or just need a friendly chat to understand how the tour works, don't hesitate to reach out to us directly at aloha@shakaguide.com. We'd truly be grateful for the opportunity to connect and see what we can do to make things right.

This was amazing! My husband and I drove the road to Hana on our own. The guided tour was not only great at describing everything and telling us all about the history, it was perfectly timed location wise and was helpful along the drive as there was no service for the majority of it and we could not access the maps apps. Make sure you download it before you leave on the day of your trip. We also loved the music and the historical stories on the long ride back to Kīhei. Highly recommend this guided audio tour!

Jennifer_M, Feb 2026
This GPS-guided tour was recommended by a local sandwich shop where we picked up food to bring on the road to Hana. I'm so glad we decided to download this tour! It narrated our drive, taught us a lot along the way, and kept us entertained. It was also nice to have a heads-up on upcoming stops that we otherwise would not have known about. Highly recommend.
Excellent App Shaka Guide

Excellent app that made the road to Hana easy, enjoyable & time efficient. It’s like having your own personal tour guide. Very clever app that tracks locations with GPS. Well done to the creators.
Highly recommend.

Why buy this guide
Steve_R, Feb 2026
This is a must do - no question about it- the best $20 you can spend for a full day investment on the road - they have thought if everything na sits super user friendly
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Aloha Steve,
That Hāna drive is a full-day commitment, so having something steady in the passenger seat makes a difference. When it’s simple to use and the timing lines up with the road, you can just focus on the drive instead of managing it. Sounds like it delivered solid value for the day.

Great ride to Hana
Jilleen_D, Feb 2026
This was a great way to hear facts and stops along the way. We felt like we had a tour guide with us!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Aloha Jilleen,
That’s the goal right there. Hāna feels very different when you’ve got context and timing riding along with you instead of guessing what’s coming next. When it feels like you’ve got a guide in the passenger seat without the group tour pace, the drive just flows better.

A great experience!
Jeffrey_F, Feb 2026
This app is a fantastic audio guide that provides driving instructions, as well as tons of historical and cultural information. It keeps you on track, whether you stop and visit a site or reverse direction to see something that was missed. We also enjoyed the cultural music that filled in the time between narrations.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Aloha Jeffrey,
That flexibility is a big part of what makes Hāna manageable. Being able to stop, double back, or change plans without losing the thread of the tour takes a lot of pressure off the drive. When the directions and cultural context line up together, it feels less like navigation and more like understanding where you are.

Excellent resource
Michael_L, Jan 2026
The Shaka guide was a great resource to have to accompany us on the drive to Hana. We were amazed with how well it synced up with our drive. The only issue we had was more with the connection with the rental car audio, which would occasionally lose connection with the tour
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Aloha Michael,
That sync moment on Hāna makes the drive feel a lot smoother, so I’m glad that part worked the way it should. Rental car audio systems can be hit or miss depending on the vehicle and connection method, and they’ll sometimes drop Bluetooth or CarPlay briefly. Good to hear it didn’t throw off the whole day though.

Great guide
Christine_T, Jan 2026
This was a great guide to the Road to Hāna! We loved the narrative and the stories! It was great to know all the stops and how much time had elapsed and how much time was left in the journey! I highly recommend! We learned a lot about the Island of Maui
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Aloha Christine,
That timing awareness makes a big difference on Hāna. Knowing how far you’ve gone and what’s still ahead helps you relax into the drive instead of constantly checking the clock. Glad the stories and pacing helped shape the day and gave you a deeper feel for Maui along the way.

wry detailed for every stop on the way, won’t miss anything. also very informative about the past and how the road to hana was made
Curvy slow drive.
Dave_M, Jan 2026
The audio tours are good and informative. Has history and stop details along the way. some pretty views and waterfalls. The Hanna Road is a curvy nightmare to drive. So, if anyone get motion sickness I would avoid it.
Great audio tour!
Maureen_S, Jan 2026
He was super fun to listen to! And we learned a lot! Would definitely use again when we return to Maui
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Aloha Maureen,
Sounds like the narration kept things light while still sharing enough to make the drive interesting. When the guide’s easy to listen to, the whole Hana run feels less long and more like part of the experience. Glad it worked well enough that you’d use it again next time you’re back on Maui.
Mahalo for exploring with Shaka Guide 🤙
Loved it!
Joyce_H, Jan 2026
Works well! GPS was right on! And loved all the advanced notice about food, bathrooms, etc. Make sure you bring charging cords. Definitely will use again!
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Aloha Joyce,
Glad the Classic Road to Hana tour treated you well. Those heads-ups about food, bathrooms, and timing make a long drive feel a lot more manageable, especially when GPS is firing right on cue.
And yes, charging cords are always a good call on that route. Sounds like you used it exactly how it’s meant to be used.
Mahalo for exploring with Shaka Guide 🤙
GPS is amazing (To a Senior)
Dean_Z, Jan 2026
It was amazing how GPS nailed exactly where we were, guiding us to the special parts (actually all of the Road to Hana was special) of our tour. It gave us every highlight and advised how to park (if possible) and get to each one. My only wish, beyond what we got, was to repeat the entire tour while returning, so that we could identify and make a decision about what we passed up on the way to Hana and decided to stop on the way back. Still, we saw lots of amazing things.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Aloha Dean,
Love hearing that the GPS timing felt spot-on, especially on the Road to Hana where knowing when and where to pull over makes all the difference.
You’re right, every stretch of that drive has something worth noticing. The idea of replaying the tour on the return is a good one, and we hear that wish from folks who realize how much they passed on the first go. Sounds like you still packed in a lot and had a solid day out there.
Mahalo for exploring with Shaka Guide 🤙
Excellent Guide Service
Scott_C, Dec 2025
A lot of information - both local hot spots as well as Hawaiian history. The application was easy to use and did not depend on cell coverage. The tour master's humor was a little cheesy, but we got used to them after a while. Overall, I highly recommend this tour guide.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Aloha Scott,
Mahalo for the great review and for recommending the Classic Road to Hana tour! We’re glad you enjoyed the mix of local highlights and Hawaiian history, and that the app worked smoothly without needing cell service. We appreciate the note on the humor too—it’s always fun to hear how that lands with different travelers.
Thanks again for touring with us, and we hope to guide you on another adventure soon.
Warm aloha,

Hands down, a WONDERFUL tour!! I HIGHLY recommend it!!
Amy_C, Dec 2025
I had a little difficulty getting the tour started, but once I got it working, the rest of the day was smooth sailing and went wonderful!! I wouldn’t do this tour any other way after experiencing the Shaka Tour!! Great information, but not overbearing, wonderful tips and suggestions on places to stop, helped me stay on schedule according to what I was wanting to do/see…I could go on and on…it was wonderful! I was traveling solo (my cousins bailed on me at the last minute..boo!), so it helped me to feel so much more comfortable being alone. Thanks Shaka, you played a big part in creating some very cool memories and me having an amazing day on the Road to Hana!
Must have for the road to Hana.
