Eddy Buddy was a great host. He was accommodating to all, especially our family. He was very knowledgeable and gave us the right amount of time at all stops. He certainly had the never ending jokes. I would recommend.

Our driver, Cory, was very entertaining! He shared information about Maui as well as Haleakala. We loved watching the sunrise while listening to the sunrise chant. It was a memorable experience.
Very knowledgeable and organized tour guides. Great weather and wonderful experience. This was my first time parasailing and it won’t be my last!
The experience is great but pick a different company for it. This company is mainly focused on the bike ride down from the summit and not the sunrise itself. That means they pick you up incredibly early so you can stop at their office where they fit each and every biker with a helmet and then “train” them how to ride the bikes. All the way up to the summit the driver is yakking about the bike route back down and how not to get lost. When we reached the summit he explained that sunrise was at 6:11 and we needed to leave promptly at 6:13 so they could get the bikes distributed to all the riders. So we got a full two minutes.
Great time from beginning to end. Got picked up around 1:45, got to the top around 445. Crazy cold and windy at the top. Nice breakfast afterwards. We had a fantastic time and our driver was great. If you get motion sickness, the drive is very windy on cliffs so make sure you are going

DO NOT BOOK. Had a pick up at the Ashton at the Whaler for 3am. Was at the pick up point with a worker from the Ashton at 2:45 (to make sure I was in the right spot). At 3:08 I called the company to see where the van was because it’s now past 3am. They put me on hold to check with the driver, clicked back over to my call, repeated my name back to me (meaning I had a reservation), and said “oh sorry the driver must have missed your stop but if you call back at 8am we can reschedule you”. I told him today was my last day and I’m not able to reschedule and asked if the driver can just come back and get me as it’s only 8 minutes past when he was originally supposed to get me. I was told “no sorry you have to call back at 8am and reschedule or get a refund.” I’m extremely disappointed in the customer service and just service in general. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR. I rented warm equipment for the summit and wasted money, wasted time, etc.
John was an amazing tour guide for our sunrise experience!! Very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time. Highly recommend wearing warm clothes, it was very windy up there and a windchill of 34 degrees. Although it was very cold, it was breathtakingly beautiful!
This was an amazing trip to the top of the mountain! It's a tour bus, so if you get motion sickness, make sure to take something. Our driver, Corey, was enthusiastic and kept us entertained for the whole trip. The road is nice and wide, 2 lanes, and winds back and forth all the way up. Wear layers. It will be humid at sea level, but as you climb higher, it will get drier and much cooler. If you cannot stand cold and windy, make sure to pack hats and gloves as you will be standing around the rim waiting for the rise. After traveling back down to the town of Paia, we got a delicious breakfast! This is something you shouldn't miss. There's also a small giftshop at the top . Make sure to stop and support the park!
It was more than worth getting up early—Corry, the entertaining tour guide, shared lots of interesting information; we stopped along the way to take in the view of the Milky Way; the sunrise was spectacular; and breakfast—especially the egg wrap—is highly recommended.
The experience was excellent. The guide, Corey, was phenomenal. I’d highly recommend. The bus picked us up right at the hotel making it convenient. The guide Corey was so personable, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor even early in the morning. He made the experience one where I could learn from and have a great time along the way. He shared facts about the area and journey. The sunrise was so perfect and could not be better. The breakfast included was at a cool restaurant in Paia making it feel more special.
You can’t miss the sunrise at Haleakalā! Keoni was THE BEST guide. He gave us a perfect mix of history and humor, and brought us to the best spots. Even after the company messed up our pickup he drove back to get us out of the way. Our entire group besides us was on a bike tour down the volcano, so just beware that seems to be the more popular choice. We effectively had a personal tour, which was still great since our group all biked. If you are not interested in biking this is great - no regrets about not biking.
Corey was such an amazing tour guide, between his constant jokes and attentiveness to making sure our group never broke apart- he truly made this experience worthwhile especially as a solo traveler. He explains so much of Mauis history on the scenic drives and even stopped so we can star gaze, something I’ll never forget. If you book, ask to be with Corey! He’s such a light, and took great care of all of us, took great pictures of all of individually too!
Corey, our tour guide provided us with a ton of history and island facts with some Dad jokes mixed in. Made it super enjoyable.

This was a lot of fun. First, it was nice having someone else do the driving, and once daylight hit, I felt this even more. The road are so windy, and it was nice having an experienced driver handling it. Plus Eddie was terrific. He was entertaining, stressed the importance of safety for every aspect of the tour, and made the day very enjoyable. He even had us take a really fun picture near the summit that made us all smile.
This was a great tour. Our guide was engaging and showed up early for pickup! We built in plenty of time (very early pickup) so there was a bit of waiting before sunrise. The breakfast was good; wish we had more time to explore Paia.

We had a change to our plans while in Maui and booked this tour after multiple recommendations to visit Haleakala. Cory was our driver and picked us up very early in the morning. He was very informative and funny, but also allowed time to catch some additional rest on the way to Haleakala.
Definitely plan to dress a bit warmer and pick up both the jacket and pants! The top of the mountain around 6 am was very cold and windy! We got to star gaze a bit and the sunrise was spectacular!! Unfortunately, due to the government shutdown, we were not able to visit the Visitor Center, but the restrooms were still open.
A bit disappointed that we didn't get to stop in Makawao or stay longer in Pa'ia, but got to see a lot of the upcountry area of Maui! There weren't a lot of options for breakfast, but it was warm and great to get some coffee after an early and cold morning!
A great trip for the sunrise. Our driver Cory even stopped on the way up for some star gasing which was really awesome.
Be aware of dates for pick-up locations. We selected our exact hotel, Viator accepted that location, and we paid. A few hours after purchase, we were contacted saying they were not picking up at our location (or even in our area) and we would need to meet them at a pick-up location. As the pick-up was at 2 AM, the only viable option was for us to rent a car (adding $120 minimum to our experience) in order to get us there. Once we arrived, the pick-up was late, so we were waiting in a random parking lot for 25 minutes, thinking we were just abandoned - no one at Viator was "contactable" as it was now 2:30 AM. Luckily, we continued waiting and the van eventually showed up. Would recommend the experience, with the caveat that you select a day the tour is pickup up in your desired location.
Absolutely amazing experience! Woke up super early but so worth it. The tour guide Dan is experienced, funny and knowledgeable. Had a wonderful experience by myself before leaving the island.
Great experience! I would upgrade vehicles and add some white glove touches. Coffee would have been a plus!
$800 to spend 6-7 hours in a van with 10 people. We arrived way too early at Haleakala - almost 2 hours before sunrise, and had to sit in the dark in a tightly packed van, torture. Guide left us at top, no tour, no light, no jackets at top. Use a different company or drive yourself. Jacket and pants are a must.
This wasn’t what we expected. We were in a mixed group with a cycling tour, was the clear focus of the tour company. We spent a lot of time listening to instructions for the bike tour. As a result we were late arriving to the summit and missed some of the color changes before sunrise. We booked this tour because it was estimated at 6 hours (unlike 10 estimates for others) but we were out of our house for close to 9 hours. I would recommend taking a dedicated sunrise tour over this experience.
That said it did have its positives. The driver was pleasant and knowledgeable. The breakfast was excellent. And of course the view is once in a lifetime.
It was an amazing tour - especially due to our tour guide Michael R. He was a great driver, super knowledgeable and passionate about all things Maui/Hawaii!
You get up really early, get on a bus, get driven up the mountain to the highest peak, and get to watch something simply beautiful - the sunrise from the highest point on the island. You will be above the clouds and get to welcome the sun to another day. Besides seeing a sunrise, you will get a nearly 360° view of Maui, from the valley to the mountains and even the nearby islands. On your way down, you’ll get to stop at a few points for more views and pictures. Our last stop was at the restaurant for a tasty, and well deserved breakfast.
Things to look out for:
1) the weather - at our resort, it was 72°, but at 6am, it was 40° and windy. Making it feel colder.
2) if it’s cold in the morning, pack extra layers. We had a stop at the “shop” (the drivers headquarters) where you can use the bathroom and grab extra coats, but we had packed additional layers. For each stop on the way up, we added layers. And remove them as we slowly came back down.
3) Also, pack gloves and scarves for extra protection against cold elements. Pack plenty of water and snacks.
4) We got picked up at our resort at 2:15 at the Westin, and weren’t back until 10am. Breakfast was around 9am, so pack snacks to hold you over.
We planned this on day 1 to deal with the jet lag. It worked out perfectly.
Cory was an excellent tour guide. He shared a lot of information about Maui, stopped so we could look at the stars and was very friendly!
Fantastic tour, the sights were absolutely stunning and the Tour Guide was enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable on every topic of the National Park and surrounding towns. He answered any and all questions from members of the tour and kept the trip light and fun with jokes along the way to the peak. Would highly recommend this tour if you have an early morning clear on your schedule.
