- The tour has three starting points: Kahului, Ka'anapali, and Kapalua. It ends wherever you began.
- Expect to spend about 6-8 hours on the tour if you plan on doing all the activities.
- We recommend starting before 9 a.m.
- Maui Ocean Center, Bailey House Museum, and 'Iao Valley all have entrance fees. See below for more information on budgeting.
- Bailey House Museum is now open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you start early, you may wish to save this stop for another day.
- There are limited restroom stops on this tour. We’ll point out restrooms along the way.
- Parking can be extremely limited at popular spots. There are paid parking options available at some beaches.
- ‘Iao Valley State Monument: Will be CLOSED until June 26, 2026 for safety improvements.
- Travelers must have a smartphone compatible with the Shaka Guide app.
- The app must be downloaded and the tour redeemed before arrival.
- Strong Wi-Fi or cellular data is required to download the tour in advance.
- Location services (GPS) must be enabled on the device
- Travelers are responsible for securing any required entrance passes, reservations, or permits before starting
- This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate

We are glad we did this tour. It guided us to areas that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. We liked the casual pace with a self guilted tour.
We found the ‘Ioa Valley to be so beautiful. We stopped at the Kepaniwai Park. Such a beautiful little park next to a babbling brook.

Can I give this ZERO? Horrible. Can’t download the app even though we purchased it. Can’t get ahold of customer service. Total waste of money.

Tried several time to download tour but it never downloaded. It was a waste of money as could not use it.

Driving along a narrow windy road was a little tense but the view was spectacular. Very informative narration.

Family and I had a great time with this audio tour. We have 16 year old twins who were following along the whole time and also enjoying the stories and information. If I had to pick on one thing that would make this better. There were a couple of times where the announcement for the turn or parking spot came right at the moment when you needed to stop. This is driving at regular speeds or even slower than posted speeds as some areas of the roads require reduced speeds. So a better heads up as to where the turns or parking spots are would make this tour that much better. Will definitely keep an eye out for more Shaka guide tours.

Once we figured out how to get our rental car to show the map and relay the voice thru the stereo 😂😂 we were set to go. The information was great and were even given tips on where to park and alternate parking spots. The GPS and guide always picked back up after we made a stop.

Ir was very difficult to navigate or learn to use. Wished we'd taken a real tour of Maui instead of using this tool. Next time we'll use a tour guide

This app was excellent. We never would have seen some of the sites if this app had not told us about it. We started at Kaanapali & went all the way around western Maui. It took us about 5 hours & we did not do all the stops. Be warned- the northern coastline is VERY windy with one lane roads & hairpin blind curves. But the scenic views are AWESOME!!! Go early in the day. We started at 10:00 am. Don’t try this late in day!! The commentary was great and you can stop the tour when you get out of your vehicle. We dropped our tour audio several times but it was easy to pick up where you left off. It is downloaded so you do not need internet but gps is very helpful to see where you are. Glad I spent the $10!! Mahalo!!
