Imagine exploring the ocean floor without getting wet. On this submarine tour in Maui, you can descend over 100 feet (30m) in an air-conditioned sub and press your face against circular portholes in search of reef sharks and fish. Experience the sights, sounds, and scenes of life beneath the waves. Note: all passengers must be 36" (90cm) or taller to ride the submarine, a fantastic adventure for all.

The Maui Atlantis Submarine tour begins in Lahaina Harbor, where an open-air cruise brings you out to the dive site and submarine. Transfer aboard the state-of-the-art, air-conditioned submarine for an aquatic experience in search of wild marine life.
In 2005, an old whaling ship, the Carthaginian, was scuttled off Lahaina, and today it serves as an artificial reef for colorful coral and fish. Prior to its scuttling in 2005, this area was a sandy bottom with very little marine life, and today it is home to indigenous fish and a vibrant coral reef.
In winter, from December to May, there’s even the chance of spotting whales on the journey out to the sub, and you never know if one might pay a visit while underwater!

Our family was looking for a spontaneous adventure, and we couldn't think of a better way to spend the day than revisiting a favorite memory. My wife and I had done this submarine tour back in 2007, and we were thrilled to bring the whole family back to experience it again. What made it even more special? The same captain from our 2007 trip was at the helm — a wonderful full-circle moment that made the experience feel truly personal.
The tour runs about an hour and a half and is packed with incredible sights. We spotted eels, a wide variety of colorful fish, and were treated to an underwater world that left everyone in awe. The entire crew was warm, welcoming, and genuinely knowledgeable — they kept everyone engaged throughout the journey.
If you're visiting with kids, especially young ones, this is an absolute must-do. It's the kind of experience that sparks a love for the ocean and creates memories that last — clearly, for us, nearly two decades! And for everything it offers, we found it to be very reasonably priced.
Highly recommend for families, couples, and first-timers alike!

The underwater sights were remarkable.
The submarine pilot was competent and the equipment was to high standards.
Seating was comfortable and everyone had a great view -- and there was so much to see!
The narrator was knowledgeable and personable. The problem was that she couldn't always be heard over the noise of the engine of the boat while we were being transported from the shore to the submarine.
Our main problem was that the walk from the meeting place to the transfer boat was long and hard for my husband, who walks with a cane. I wish we had been told we could have be dropped off right at the harbor and avoid the walk in the hot sun. This is a temporary problem due to the fire, so ask about this if it might be an issue for you.

The Atlantis submarine tour was absolutely amazing! The captain and crew gave us a thorough briefing before we got underway which removed some of the apprehension that some people may have had (claustrophobia, etc.).
The tour took us to about 140 feet in depth which allowed us to see a reef, many kinds of fishes, and a sunken ship that is now a marine life habitat.
Five stars to the captain and crew!

This was such a fun, amazing experience for our kids! We stayed in west Maui at the Grand Wailea, and it was well worth the drive over to Lahaina to do the Atlantis sub. The crew was incredible and went out of their way to make it so fun for our 5 and 7 year old. We saw so many fish and sharks, and it was the perfect balance of fun and educational. We would totally do this again!

It was a short walk to get to the boat and a short boat ride to get to the submarine. We saw a coral reef, sunken ship, lots of fish and a dolphin on our side of the submarine. It was cool to see the dolphins underwater. Randy was very knowledgeable. Well worth the cost.

From start to finish everything was fantastic. Crew was kind courteous and professional. The equipment was quality and you felt safe at every moment. I highly recommend this excursion. The cost is also considering the size of crew and the expensive equipment.

We were disappointed in the submarine experience. First we were told to be at site by 10:10 for check in. Then at 10:30 staff would arrive to discuss excursion. That person arrived a few minutes before time to leave. We did not see anything mich in the Ocean plus pictures do not turn out good. For us it was a waste of hard earned money.

We were looking for something (to do)in the area that we could predict the ending time. When we found the submarine (which we had looked into earlier in the week already), it was going to be a perfect fit for our last day. We needed to be at the airport later in the afternoon.

The meeting place is in the area of the great fire. There is some walking involved to get from the meeting spot to the dock.
The boat ride was very interesting sailing between the other neighboring island with beautiful blue water all around.
Once on board and the hatches are secured. It’s to the world that that not many people get to see.
Personally, my favorite part was the sunken ship.
In my opinion it was well worth the time spent!

This was a neat experience! They take you down 135 feet and you get to see different fish and even an abandoned boat on the floor of the ocean! Loved it!

I was impressed by how friendly and knowledgable the team was!
The whole experience was the best thing I did in Maui, the boat trip to the submarine had the best scenes, the guide was funny and knew everything, the submarine tour was a great experience especially watching the fish and sunken ship.

This was definitely the highlight of our vacation. Such a cool experience. The crew members were all great and we were able to see all kinds of marine life including sharks, a stingray, eel, several sea stars….and a sunken ship! Would highly recommend 😊

Great experience, traveled with my wife and kids. My wife is scared of snorkeling and this was basically the same as snorkeling without getting wet. The guides were so much fun, they did a great job of informing us of the different fish we saw along with history of the island of Maui.

Our captain in training, Calvin, was great! A fun and truly unique experience. We were able to go down to 150ft and see some truly great sights.

Soooo AMAZING!!!! The sub was soooo big, and everyone involved in the tour, so friendly and extremely informative about literally everything! From the ocean to the sea floor and all the fish. We got to see sharks and dolphins and a huge variety of fish. We recommend this trip highly👍

They tried to be fair with both sides of the submarine but I thought the Port side was better. They seemed to see everything first. Although we didn't get to choose sides. The crew was fantastic, informative & fun. They also played some good tunes that coincided with the theme. Didn't see much in the way of sea creatures but you can't predict what the marine creatures will do. Over all was fun & informative.

Absolutely amazing experience and one of the highlights of our Maui trip! The submarine itself was incredible, but Captain Jim truly made the experience. He was hilarious, personable, informative, and such a great guy. We had an awesome time and would absolutely recommend this excursion!

The entire staff were very friendly and informative about the safety of the submarine and the types of wildlife we saw! Would definitely recommend for families and those wanting to see what thunder the sea is like! They also mentioned they just opened back up 5 months ago after the Lahaina fires so it’s great to support them now that they’re open!
