Imagine exploring the ocean floor without getting wet. On this submarine tour in Maui, you can descend over 100 feet (30m) in an air-conditioned sub and press your face against circular portholes in search of reef sharks and fish. Experience the sights, sounds, and scenes of life beneath the waves. Note: all passengers must be 36" (90cm) or taller to ride the submarine, a fantastic adventure for all.

The Maui Atlantis Submarine tour begins in Lahaina Harbor, where an open-air cruise brings you out to the dive site and submarine. Transfer aboard the state-of-the-art, air-conditioned submarine for an aquatic experience in search of wild marine life.
In 2005, an old whaling ship, the Carthaginian, was scuttled off Lahaina, and today it serves as an artificial reef for colorful coral and fish. Prior to its scuttling in 2005, this area was a sandy bottom with very little marine life, and today it is home to indigenous fish and a vibrant coral reef.
In winter, from December to May, there’s even the chance of spotting whales on the journey out to the sub, and you never know if one might pay a visit while underwater!

Our family was looking for a spontaneous adventure, and we couldn't think of a better way to spend the day than revisiting a favorite memory. My wife and I had done this submarine tour back in 2007, and we were thrilled to bring the whole family back to experience it again. What made it even more special? The same captain from our 2007 trip was at the helm — a wonderful full-circle moment that made the experience feel truly personal.
The tour runs about an hour and a half and is packed with incredible sights. We spotted eels, a wide variety of colorful fish, and were treated to an underwater world that left everyone in awe. The entire crew was warm, welcoming, and genuinely knowledgeable — they kept everyone engaged throughout the journey.
If you're visiting with kids, especially young ones, this is an absolute must-do. It's the kind of experience that sparks a love for the ocean and creates memories that last — clearly, for us, nearly two decades! And for everything it offers, we found it to be very reasonably priced.
Highly recommend for families, couples, and first-timers alike!

I was impressed by how friendly and knowledgable the team was!
The whole experience was the best thing I did in Maui, the boat trip to the submarine had the best scenes, the guide was funny and knew everything, the submarine tour was a great experience especially watching the fish and sunken ship.
I would do it again and gain

This was definitely the highlight of our vacation. Such a cool experience. The crew members were all great and we were able to see all kinds of marine life including sharks, a stingray, eel, several sea stars….and a sunken ship! Would highly recommend 😊

This is a must do activity! We enjoyed it so much!! We got to see a shark, sponges, starfish and so much more! Even a secret surprise.

Great experience, traveled with my wife and kids. My wife is scared of snorkeling and this was basically the same as snorkeling without getting wet. The guides were so much fun, they did a great job of informing us of the different fish we saw along with history of the island of Maui.
It's an awesome breathtaking adventure. The guides were amazing. She had so very much information. The pilot was friendly and realky knew what he was doing. It was great to see what he was doing real time.

Soooo AMAZING!!!! The sub was soooo big, and everyone involved in the tour, so friendly and extremely informative about literally everything! From the ocean to the sea floor and all the fish. We got to see sharks and dolphins and a huge variety of fish. We recommend this trip highly👍

They tried to be fair with both sides of the submarine but I thought the Port side was better. They seemed to see everything first. Although we didn't get to choose sides. The crew was fantastic, informative & fun. They also played some good tunes that coincided with the theme. Didn't see much in the way of sea creatures but you can't predict what the marine creatures will do. Over all was fun & informative.

Absolutely amazing experience and one of the highlights of our Maui trip! The submarine itself was incredible, but Captain Jim truly made the experience. He was hilarious, personable, informative, and such a great guy. We had an awesome time and would absolutely recommend this excursion!

The entire staff were very friendly and informative about the safety of the submarine and the types of wildlife we saw! Would definitely recommend for families and those wanting to see what thunder the sea is like! They also mentioned they just opened back up 5 months ago after the Lahaina fires so it’s great to support them now that they’re open!

It’s just a waste of money. Please don’t waste your money and time. There is nothing to see. They just show some useless fishes and a sunken boat. I would pay just $50 per person at the most.

We are sorry to hear that your recent adventure was less exciting than you had hoped, but are glad that you enjoyed the experience of traveling to the bottom of the sea in a submarine.
Unfortunately, Hawaii has very sparse natural reef environments, and over the past 100 years, the natural reef has been disappearing. We hope that with a little time and care, our natural reefs will continue to grow. We continue to educate our guests to help support Hawaii natural environment in hopes we can get more volunteers to help clean our oceans and protect our land.

We booked this last minute. We were so pleasantly surprised at the service and quality of the experience. We met by the marina and then as a group walked to the marina together. We boarded a boat that took us out to the submarine. Once we boarded, it was awesome. Each person has a portal window to look out of. They turn the submarine so both starboard and Portside, you can see the sites. There was a shipwreck, anchor and so many fish. You go down 150 feet. I loved it!!!

It was very informative. The submarine was full so it felt a little tight. If someone is claustrophobic, this is not the excursion for them. It was very well run, professional & friendly staff.

Great for families with kids. I took my 7 and 3 year old and they were captivated. Its located in Lahaina and this is a great way to support their community that was recently devistated by fires.

This was an incredible experience, and the kids and I absolutely loved every minute of it!
We packed our time in Maui with some amazing excursions, and every one of them was memorable. But descending 100 feet beneath the ocean in a submarine was, without question, the coolest experience of the trip.
My wife and I kept it a surprise until we were on the boat heading out to the submarine. The kids guessed all kinds of adventures, but riding in a real submarine never even crossed their minds. Seeing the look on their faces when they realized what we were about to do is a memory I’ll never forget.
Thank you for this truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was an adventure our family will be talking about for years to come!
