Whale Tales is an excellent excursion experience! The crew is fantastic! Lexi the bus driver kept us entertained with her corny jokes. James the captain got us to the best location for seeing whales. Griffin and Monica, the naturalists, were very knowledgeable! Griffin is a true whale nerd and very fun! We saw a total of 5 whales! You definitely want to book this excursion!

This your was great! Exactly what it says. Whale watching. Driver was funny and kind. Our boat crew, Captain Brenden and naturalists Claire and Nate were great! I would definitely recommend this tour. Saw whales in at least 3 different areas.

Best Whale Watching Trip Ever

Larry_M, Jul 2026
We saw more whales than on any other trip ever. We even saw bubble netting by a pod of whales. Something very rare, the brew Brenden, Gwen and Sophie were great. They were fun, informative and helpful. They were able to answer all questions and knew all about the local whales.

All the sea mammals!

Mark_E, Jul 2026
Our guides were informative, kind, and engaging. They got us ON THE WHALES. We had an all female crew, which we love to see. They were all so passionate about their work, it was great to hear.

Experience & crew both amazing

Gary_L, Jul 2026
This was a great experience, made better by the effect crew we had: Captain Michelle, Nate, and über excitable whale need Griffin. We saw orcas, pretty, and a lot of humpbacks. Griffin was VERY excited. Flukes, breaches, and feeding. Highly recommended experience!

Awesome crew! So many whales!!

katherine_a, Jul 2026
Brenden. Gwen and Sophie were amazing! Friendly and knowledgeable! We saw so many whales bubble net feeding!!

Whales and Whales

Mary_N, Jul 2026
We were promised to see whales and we saw many. Awesome to see so many. Great information about whales from our guide and Captain.

Whales good…bus ride bad.

Tony_L, Jul 2026
The whale watching experience was amazing! The tour guides were excellent! We saw so many whales, orcas, and seals! The bus ride, however, was painful. It was a school bus (too small for a tall person like me) and very crowded. Also we were not told we were going to pick up additional passengers which added about an hour to our tour. It was very unpleasant But, again, the whale experience was fantastic! If only they could improve the ride to and from the boat.

So many whales!

Suzanne_S, Jul 2026
We saw so many whales today. Multiple humpbacks at the same time and the whales came so close at one point. We could see their blowholes and hear them volcalizing to each other. The crew was very respectful of the whales, the whales just happened to pass by us when the captain had the boat off Great job crew! Very knowledgeable staff, and so helpful. At one point there were so many whales we couldn't count them! If snack is important to you, there is no snack bar. We we're offered a rice Kristie treat or a granola bar. Small group and plenty of space for everyone to see. About 40 people on our boat, but didnt feel crowded. Highly recommend Whale Tales!

An amazing experience! I am sure it’s not always a sure thing to see so many whales but this trip did not disappoint!!

The Absolute Best!!

Michelle_B, Jul 2026
AMAZING! The staff on our excursion was FANTASTIC. It was not just about seeing the whales (which we saw plenty of), but the enthusiasm, knowledge and kindness of the crew made this trip more than amazing!!! We got off the boat with so much information about whales in general and about the exact whales that we saw! The staff was so incredibly knowledgeable that we walked away feeling like mini whale pros!! THIS is the tour to take when in Juneau.

Great experience!

Linda_K, Jul 2026

Amazing Whale Watching in Juneau

Karen_W, Jul 2026
Alaska Tales did an amazing job. The tour by Jay on the way to the dock was very informative about our surroundings and locations in Juneau. Michelle, Rachel and Nate were very helpful to get my sister a wheelchair to get on and off the boat easily. They helped her get on and off the boat with no issues and she was able to enjoy the experience. Rachel telling us what details to look for and going towards the whales with still saying a safe distance too. It was an amazing experience. Highly recommend this business in Juneau.

Bubble Net Feeding - Wow!

Scott_F, Jul 2026
Great crew, sunny day and 15 whales giving quite the show! The scenery to watch a very interesting and exciting phenomenon was exceptional!

Most amazing experience EVER!

Jodi_L, Jul 2026
Had the most amazing experience with Alaska Tales! Krichelle was an excellent captain and took us right to the excitement of 11 whales bubble netting! Morgan & Rachel were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend booking with Alaska Tales!

Lynsey_R, Jul 2026
We had the best time! The boat was very comfortable and you had plenty of room to see all the whales. The captain Brennan was a local and found the best spots. Gwen and Sophie had such great knowledge and the best personalities. The bus ride had a great driver that gave great information and stories. We saw unbelievable sights! I really recommend.

Michael_A, Jul 2026
Our guide, Rachel was awesome. She was very upbeat and a wealth of knowledge. We saw several whales and she knew them all by name. Her passion for these magnificent creatures was obvious. Capt. Larry was great as well and our shuttle driver (forget his name) was also very knowledgeable and shared numerous facts about Juneau. Would definitely recommend this tour!

Great whale trip!

Susan_F, Jul 2026
Fantastic tour and great viewing of whales. Our naturalist Griffen was knowledgeable and his enthusiasm seeing the whales contagious.

Whale tales tour

Keith_L, Jul 2026
We had an amazing experience from start to finish. Fred? Our bus driver started our adventure out with fun facts and a local tour on the way. Our guides were so informative, fun and personable. They really made everyone feel safe and important, we all felt like we could ask anything to learn more and be fully engaged in our Whale watching tour. We were so fortunate to see 5 different whales throughout our whole time on the water as well as sea lions. Their knowledge and love for the whales really was evident. This excursion far exceeded our expectations thanks to Krichelle, Ash, Morgan and their bus driver.

Our excursion tour guide...

Gina_S, Jul 2026
Our excursion tour guide Taylor was excellent . He really shows compassion and knowledge of the whales and his job as a tour guide . We learned a lot and saw 11 whales. It was a good trip.

Awesome

Kristi_N, Jul 2026
We saw plenty of whales 🐋. Staff was great and knowledgeable. We didn't have a long time in Juneau and we seen plenty of whales. The seats inside the boat was comfy.

Best Whale tour ever

Stephen_J, Jul 2026
OMG this was the best whale tour ever. The captain brought us up close to two groups of whales. One large gam bubble netting, which the Naturalist, Ashley, says was very rare. She was well informed and entertaining in describing the whales and their behavior. Even Fred, our bus driver, gave an interesting narrative of the environs.

Book with Nate for great photos!

Greg_B, Jul 2026
Our bus driver, Lexi, was informative and funny - she had some good “dad jokes” to share. The boat had a covered area with an upper and lower outside area for whale viewing. Captain Brenden took up to a spot where whales were very active. Nate and Taylor were terrific at answering questions and helping us spot humpbacks. Nate took some great photos which he shared with all of us for free!

Must do tour!

Greg_O, Jul 2026
Amazing crew! Exciting experience! Griffin brought great energy to the tour! We saw multiple whales & even a baby.

More Whales Tails

Jerry_H, Jul 2026
Had a Blast with Kacey, Griffin,, and James We were at the right spot at the right time. To observe a mother and calf feeding together and six whales at the same time blowing out before diving down all giving us the tail on the way down. Very knowledgeable guide in Kacey. Griffin was as excited as we were on what we were observing. It was a Great Day and Great Crew!

Once you're on the boat, it's awesome!

Melody_C, Jul 2026
The whale watching portion of this tour was phenomenal. The captain and naturalists did a wonderful job finding whales and communicating what we were seeing. Be aware that the stop at Mendenhall was the bus in the parking lot to pick up others. We could not get off the bus. You'll see the glacier from the boat if it is clear, but if you think you're going to have an opportunity to see it up close, you won't. The bus driver had some jokes that were sexist and in questionable taste.

Whales

Aaron_M, Jul 2026
Great times with the whales - guides were great and the whales were happy to see us as we were happy to see them.

Highly recommend!...

Amy_F, Jul 2026
Highly recommend! Naturalists Ash & Taylor were fantastic along with Captain Justin. We learned so much about the whales that we saw in addition to ones that are commonly seen. We also got lucky and saw orcas too! Boat was a perfect size so everyone had a great view for photos & videos. Our driver Poppa Bear was entertaining and shared tons of info to and from boat dock. You can tell that all these employees love their job, their passion is contagious.

Whales, as promised

Andrew_L, Jul 2026
Very easy process. Clearly marked meeting place, where we were escorted to the bus that takes us to the boat, and back to the meeting place. No guess work at all. Bus driver Lexi was fun and knowledgeable. (Beware of Dad jokes)! Crew: Captain Michelle, Deck Hands Kacie and Rachel. We were fortunate to be on an early booking on one of their larger boats that was at half capacity, so always plenty of room to move around and find spots anywhere on decks. And as promised, plenty of Humpback whales. Even got to see NOAA place a transponder on one. The crew was friendly and provided commentary, education and helped with spotting. Didn't hurt that we had great weather too. Would highly recommend!
