Great food, fabulous, friendly staff. Good for all people regardless of mobility issues. Even the side dishes were fabulous. We roasted marshmallows And took the short easy hike to the waterfalls. Grounds are well kept, very clean. I'd do it again.

The bus driver, Clark was fabulous! He was a plethora of information about Alaska and her history and he was very kind, offering me his coat because I was cold. The food was very nice and the heaters around this outdoor activity were very helpful.

Our family loved the ambiance but thought the cost was really high for the food per person. The transport system was a little rocky with the way it was managed, Drivers were not counting as people entered the buses, requiring people to back out of bus and then missing opportunity to board the next bus because it was already being filled up. Fortunately buses were running often, but could have been smoother.

Great salmon!

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Hype

21windows, Sep 2025
I had high hopes for the Juneau Gold Creek Salmon Bake, but unfortunately, it fell short in several key areas. The salmon was just okay—nothing memorable, and certainly not the star of the show as advertised. The ribs were served cold, which was a real letdown, and the baked beans were also cold and bland. For a place that prides itself on hearty Alaskan fare, the execution was surprisingly poor. Drink options were extremely limited—barely more than lemonade-aid, iced tea. The outdoor setting could have been charming, but it felt more like a tourist churn than a genuine Alaskan experience. Honestly, you’d be better off spending your money at a nice restaurant in town where the food is fresh, the drinks are flowing, and the service is attentive. This felt more like a box to check off a cruise itinerary than a culinary highlight. Disappointed.

Definitely worth doing!

Perfect for an evening

AAA+++ It was a nice evening with friends and families. Very good services and history. Thanks to cooker

Great activity for kids!

Jennifer_P, Aug 2025
The atmosphere is great! Live music, plenty to eat, roasting marshmallows, gold mining, and a beautiful waterfall and creek. But the food was mediocre. They drop you off and you can stay and eat as long as you want to. Buses leave every 20-25 minutes to return you to town. Kids would probably love it.

Yummy salmon bake!

PoChun_W, Aug 2025
We had another good visit at this salmon bake. We come here every time we are in town. We like to improvement they kept making on the ground, Service and food was really good. We will come back again next time when we are in town.

Delicious. Nice experience. Food was good. Atmosphere was fun. Entire family enjoyed the experience.

Designed for tourists

Hugh_R, Aug 2025
This experience is designed to accommodate a large number of cruise tourists. The outdoor setting is pleasant beside a flowing creek and waterfall. The food is what you might expect from an all you can buffet; it's okay but not remarkable. My piece of grilled salmon was for my taste was overcooked and dry, although that be what cruise patrons prefer. I bought a pint of local amber beer which was quite good but the $10 a pint was a surprise. We tried the blueberry cake for dessert; the flavor was okay but it was so dry that it crumbled off of the fork. We also tried the hot apple cider. It was more like hot apple syrup, just too sweet for my pallet. The musician was excellent; he played a lot of easy listening James Taylor classics. It was not loud or obtrusive. I can recommend visiting Gold Creek Salmon Bake for the experience, but be aware that the food is average prepared for tourists who will probably never return. They do provide transportation to and from the cruise ship docks, but if you are staying in a hotel they will not accommodate you, but require you to find your way to the cruise dock pick up point.

This excursion was a great concept, food and scenery was nice, but they should definitely limit the number of people there at one time. You stood in line the majority of time you are there either for the buffet line or to get back on the bus, there is ONLY marshmallows, not Smores. A staff member said the management refuses to take that part off the listing. We probably wouldn’t do this again if we knew the facts.

Best experience so far

Beautiful setting, lots of history, salmon in the creek, good food and music! Friendly staff and well-maintained facilities.

Missed the mark.

Monica_S, Jul 2025
The food simply was not to our liking. There’s nothing else to do here so if you’re not interested in eating, you’re just sitting there watching others eat.

Save your money and don't book

Teresa_G, Jun 2025
I really wanted to like this but nothing that was promised in the description was what it was. We were told when we booked that there would be s'mores. Yeah none. Not any marshmallows at all. As soon as we got picked up the driver told us her intercom system was broken and she wasn't going to yell to give us info. That was crap. Then when we got there they started breaking down one side of the food bar and had to wait in a long line to even get one plate let alone anything extra. Was told it had chicken as well as ribs and salmon. No chicken at all. The only thing that even was remotely as promised was the waterfall but that would be hard to screw up. Wish we hadn't of booked this at all. Not worth the $75 a person.

Do not Miss!

We enjoyed the Salmon cooked over a wood fire. Would have been better if there were communtary/stories shared during the visit. It would have enhanced the experience. Once you arrived you were on your own.

thomas_s, Jun 2025
Over booked, entirely too many people to support the space. Wait for close to an hour and never got close enough to get a plate before I decided to leave.

The best salmon you'll ever eat.

Veronica_C, Jun 2025
Beautiful location. Great food. The sides were yummy. But the star was the Salmon with the bourbon glaze. I don't even like salmon that much but I ate 2 pieces. The short walk to the waterfall was very picturesque. And the waterfall itself was beautiful. Even the brief rain didn't put a damper on the meal as it was all under cover and some tables had heaters. The bus drivers were very informative for the short drive to and from the Salmon Bake site. Highly recommend.

All you can eat. Great waterfall. Great friendly staff. Awesome food. I normally don’t eat clam chowder- best I have ever eaten. We went in store looking to see if they sold it in store.

Fresh BBQ Salmon!

We arrived early as the first group, our driver lady was excellent. The meal was fresh and tasty, we really enjoyed Gold Creek Salmon baked..

Fun family experience

Thomas_M, Sep 2024
The food was delicious! The salmon was good, but honestly, I most enjoyed the ribs. The atmosphere was great! The trails were beautiful, the staff was friendly, and we even enjoyed roasting marshmallows over a campfire with our grandkids.

Great food in beautiful Alaska

Tracy_B, Sep 2024
Our bus driver from the port to the venue was very fun. Her name was Cherie. The food was delicious and the walki to the waterfall is a must.

Super fun - Great food!

Leonard_J, Sep 2024
Great wood grilled salmon, outdoor heaters, ample seating and totally covered for all types of weather. Quick food lines and music provided. David our tour guide was fabulous!!

Beautiful Surroundings Food Not Great

Lisa_H, Aug 2024
Bus driver to the site narrated points of interest in Juneau and the return driver, David, was lots of fun. Our cruise ship all aboard was 12:30pm but they provided buses that promptly returned us directly to the ship in plenty of time. The settings were beautiful and there were heaters to keep people warm. The salmon and ribs were both dry and rather tasteless. The best side was the baked beans. The dessert cake was also good. All in all although the salmon was a disappointment, the drivers and ambience made it well worth the money.

Definitely Worth It!

Debra_P, Aug 2024
The event is well-organized, yet relaxed. The location is outdoors under huge canopies with heaters, lots of tables to choose from, easy serving lines—it’s a buffet—and live music. Then you can take the short path behind the restrooms and view a huge waterfall on Gold Creek. Well worth it!

Great experience!

Tammie_L, Aug 2024
My family and I really enjoyed this experience. My family did not expect the beautiful atmosphere! My husband really enjoyed the food.

Best salmon bake ever!!!

Cesar_P, Aug 2024
The best salmon we’ve ever had! The glaze is just the perfect compliment to the fish.. there’s also a wide variety of food you can choose from,,.This excursion exceeded our expectation and is Well worth the money…very highly recommended!

Not up to expectations

tod_e, Jul 2024
The excursion was not what the website portrayed. It showed enclosed dining areas, larger choice of menu, panning for gold-- all that was provided was a bucket of dirt and a very dirty box of water - no guide - no assistance. Very poor value vs price. Best part was the transportation drivers Dave and Sofia - very nice - engaging people
