Itinerary

The best way to get from the Cruiseship port to the Mendenhall Glacier and back efficiently. With this round-trip tour you get a 30 minute narrated tour past the historic downtown, 2 hours to explore the park at your pace, the same guide brings you back to the cruise ship terminal. Pickup and drop-off points are located at the cruise ship terminal near the Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway. Your transfer will be confirmed instantly after making a booking. (Note to cruise-ship passengers: Please provide your ship name, docking time, and disembarkation reboarding times.)

During the 3 hour tour to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, your driver shares advice on how to explore the glacier, provides insight into Juneau history and points out well-known sites. On the return trip, listen for recommendations on where to grab a bite to eat in Juneau.

This was an excellent excursion. Our trolly driver was amazing. so full of information and enthusiasm about what he was teaching us. We were with family and friends and we all loved it. The glacier park was amazing as well with a great hike and lots of amazing views.

This was not a (guided) tour. The tour operator, Juneau Tours, basically just provided bus (not trolley) transportation to/from Mendenhall Glacier.

You can’t control the weather, so bring an umbrella so you can dance in the rain.

The team was super friendly - they love what they do. No complaints. But there is a VERY high likelihood it will rain during your visit. Bring all the waterproof essentials: shoes, socks, jacket, pants, poncho, dry bag, hat, umbrella. Lots of layers if it’s going to be cold.

They gave more time than necessary on a rainy day then left us behind even with empty seats on the trolly. Adaptation ≈ Zerø. Not recommended if you got kids, anyone who need assistance. Great services at nothing

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your tour. This was a unique day with extra bad weather at the very end of the season. Believe it or not we had people calling asking for LONGER at the park. So we have that challenge of not being able to meet everyone's needs. We were also the only tours available since it was the last week of the season so every seat was sold out - we are hesitant to let anyone leave earlier or later on days like this because people's seats are reserved.

The tour guide was easy to find and check in was easy. Our bus driver gave us great stories and information along the route. We had enough time at the glacier to enjoy it and hike to the falls.

This was a great experience as our first time doing a non-ship-sponsored excursion. Communication for where to go and when was excellent in advance and on site. Comfortable transportation to the park and clear info on how/when to return to the same trolley (bus) back. The only thing that I wish I'd done differently is find a longer trip. Two hours sounds like a good amount of time, but it went very quickly. We hiked up to Nugget Falls and to the photo spot, but could have spent much more time on site if we weren't due back on the bus. Not at all an issue with the trip itself, just advice to future travelers, you may want more time than you think! The highlight was a bear crossing about 20 feet in front of us on the path with her two cubs. Honestly, scary at the time, but once we'd backed up and she continued on her way with them and the danger had faded, it is now a highlight of our entire Alaskan trip.

Nice trolley (bus) ride out of Juneau to the Glacier and there are a few short hiking trails out to Nugget Falls and scenic views. Beautiful area. A few too many people for my tastes, but that's what you get at a cruise ship destination point.

-I told Viator my ship and tour. I had the wrong date by one day. They sent a reminder 20 hours before so it could not be changed. No transfer of date, no refund, no discount . Poor communication, many reminders of the old tour, plus requests for review. Local tour company was good Viator had poor service.

We had a wonderful close view of the glacier and beautiful weather for late September. There was enough time to reach Nugget Falls and also visit the observatory to watch the video and browse. Our bus driver was very informative and friendly.

Experience was basically just transportation to and from the glacier and falls. Not a tour as expected. Not worth it. Best to get other from of transportation if wanting more of a tour experience.

The Forest Service manages the park and doesn't permit us to conduct tours at the actual park. The 25 minute narrated ride from the cruise ship dock and 25 minute ride back is the tour portion.

It was a great experience! Very informative Host and very knowledgable about the area. We had many stops to view and take pictures while enroute. We saw the train as it crossed the wooden tressle bridge which was amazing. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Waste of Time and Money! Don’t do it!

It was not a trolly tour. It was a transport to a park that had a glacier and one waterfall. It took all of an hour to see if that much. However, the bus driver dropped us(a bus load of people) and said he would be back in two hours to pick us up. Basically, you are stuck in this small location with limited activities. Terrible! Not worth $79 per person…what a ripoff!!!

Oh man! I am worried you didn't end up on the correct tour? Our trolley tour is on one of our custom white or green trolleys and is a 25 minute narrated tour out to the glacier park and then 25 minute narrated tour back? Depending on what time of day you were here, was the visitor center closed? That has been a disspointment for some people due to the limited hours they have because of federal budget cuts. The trails and views are always open however and the nugget falls hike (most popular trail) takes at least 45 mins round trip if you don't stop for photos and you are a medium fast walker.

Everything ran on time and the tour was easy to locate both at the cruise dock and at the glacier area. The trolley bus driver was informative and interesting. As he drove we were show a few sites and told about the local area and what to expect when we arrived at Mendenhall Glacier area. I was able to make it to Nugget Falls and view a little of the visitor center. I only wish I had more than the allocated two hours to hike additional trails.
