We loved our day out in the Jeep. Unfortunately, the GPS-prompted commentary didn’t work but we were able to select each point of interest ourselves and listen to the commentary. The Jeep was clean and comfortable and easy to drive. We especially loved being in control of our own itinerary and not bound by those of an organised excursion. Thanks DIY Jeep.
Easy guide to use! Interesting comments. Vehicle is clean and ready to use. Four door is very roomy.
This was such a fun experience, we arrived, got checked in, was given a quick run-down on the audio tour portion of the excursion. then we got in our well maintained and clean jeep and headed off. It was fun to go at our own pace, and the audio was so neat and informative. defiantly would do this again
This was an AMAZING experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone stopping in Skagway. The scenery along the Klondike Highway was stunning. Be prepared to pull over several times for photos! We really enjoyed having the recorded audio tour while we traveled. The system knew exactly where we were throughout the trip and the historical information provided was very interesting. The company even provided a backup written copy, with maps, in case the GPS goes down for any reason. The reward at the end, Emerald Lake, is well worth the drive. It's so beautiful. We brought extra water and snacks, just in case. The only place to stop for food is Carcross, which is a couple of hours from Skagway. There is only 1 public restroom stop along the way.
Also, don't forget to bring your passports or US Resident cards because you will be going through both Canadian and US Customs and they don't accept just a driver's license or state ID. If you are not from the U.S., be sure to research Canadian requirements in case you need a Visa.
This excursion was a great way to get away from the crowds, stop where we wanted to stop, and see all the sights. We were very fortunate to see a grizzly and two cubs along the highway near Carcross. Emerald Lake is gorgeous and the IPad tour guide was informative and humorous. I was happy with this experience and didn’t feel I’d missed anything by not taking the train ride. The pickup and drop off process was very easy too.
Great tour! Set your own pace and have privacy for just your group. Stop when and where you want. I pad announces stops and gives a brief description on the way up to Emerald lake. We stopped for lunch in Carcross at the bistro. It was delicious. The line to pick up your jeep can be long in the morning so grab a cup of coffee next door while you wait.
If you are on the fence of train vs jeep this excursion, hands down is a must. Go at your own pace and have an experience of a lifetime!
We stopped and got a ride by an amazing dog sled team. Stuck our toes in the sand at Carcross desert and Lake Bennett. Strolled the charming town of Carcross. The scenery is breathtaking. We stopped and saw a bear feeding along the highway, saw waterfalls. The GPS guided tour gave history, tips on when and where to stop. The only "complaint" is the I Pad didn't work at first but we were able to trouble shoot it eventually! Do this excursion you won't be sorry!
We rented a Jeep in Skagway, Alaska. Everything about this experience was smooth, stress-free and easy.
This was a great experience for our family of four. We were given a jeep and an iPad that gave us information about the stops along the route. With kids, it is always nice to go at our own pace and have flexibility to change our plans. Emerald Lake was stunning. We ate lunch at Carcross on the way back and visited the town for a while. We saw two mountain goats on our drive (1st week of August). Tutshi Lake boat ramp was also a favorite stop.
Easy to find location from cruise dock. Check-in was quick and people were very helpful. The guided narration was informative and easy to use. Best part was being in charge of where we went and how long we spent doing it.
Excellent alternative to the cruise crowds. Picking up jeep was quick, easy, and a short walk from dock. We spent 6 hours driving the most beautiful landscapes with stops along the way including Carcross and the Yukon suspension bridge. The guided virtual tour was entertaining and helped us keep our bearings.
The car was in good condition, but the iPad did not work for us. I don’t feel like we really had a lot of assistance with using the navigation.
Other than the lengthy process to check in and return the vehicle everything was great. They definitely took their time getting people cars with a very large line of people annoyed. The jeep was fine. The inside was not very clean. The information provided was great! Not being able to charge your phone and have the device working was kind of annoying. Other than that the scenery was unmatched. When we returned the vehicle the worker immediately stepped into the bathroom after seeing us and taking about another 15 minutes with customers trying to figure out how to return the vehicle. Just kind of annoying. Would I rent again? Absolutely!
The Jeep was beautiful. The iPad part was messed up before I left. I followed instructions, but it did not go past first screen. I manually advanced it, but it was not as convenient as autopsy.
Loved the experience.
If you do not know the vehicle, take a minute in the parking lot. The window buttons were in center console. Took me forever to find them. Also, felt the lights should be auto on, it was zero visibility on summit and was not sure I had headlights 😳
There than that, seamless.
Thankful for the service!
easy check in and check out. Friendly service. Great drive, lots to see. good way to avoid port hassle. Fun driving a jeep
We arrived at the meeting point & were directed to a very long line. I assumed since we had prepaid for our reserved vehicle that we would check in quickly & be on our way. It took an hour to finally get assigned a car. Then we found out we had to pay for fuel on top of the $500. Our GPS tablet didn’t work so we were on our own. We were extremely disappointed overall.
Jeeps are in excellent condition. A lot of amazing countryside to see. Saw black bear porcupine and lots of waterfalls.
This trip was awesome! Jeep was super clean and just as advertised. Scenery was literally breathtaking!
Well worth the money. Nice clean Jeeps. Great self guided trip. Don't forget to bring your passport to go into the Yukon/ Canada.
We absolutely loved our DIY Yukon tour! It gave us the freedom and flexibility to explore at our own pace, and we even saw a bear, which made it unforgettable. I’d definitely recommend it!
Please just be sure to check weather and road conditions, since there’s only one main road back and you’ll want plenty of time to return before your cruise departs!
Jeep experience was great, would definitely recommend. The audio iPad was a really cool and forest way to guide you. We enjoyed stopping at our leisure and taking our time to explore all the beautiful sights
This was one of our best experiences of our trip. The jeep was clean and nice - the recorded tour gave us lots of information, and it was especially nice to be able to stop and visit the sites without being rushed.
Great tour. Easy to find meeting point and fabulous customer service. We loved the sites, scenery and saw mountain goats and 2 bald eagles. I highly recommend this tour. Audio narration added interesting tidbits of info too
Highly Highly Recommend! Perfection all the way around.
The audio was perfect. We could play the videos and go back and listen again.
Carcross was such a cute and quaint town.
We went the last day of the season and it was closed, but I’m sure it would be great in the summer.
Staff was great, jeep needed new tires, they were very bald, iPad tour didn’t work most of the tour. Probably wouldn’t use this company again unless we were given a better maintained Jeep.
It was super easy to find the Jeep pick up point. The staff was super friendly. The audio guide did not work for us so we had to read the booklet they gave us. What little we got from the audio guide we enjoyed, so it was disappointing not to have it work. The first half of our trip up to the lake was complete fog and rain. We did eventually get some clearing and were able to enjoy the views at the top and on our way back. Lunch was limited to one restaurant in Carcross. It was pricey but decent food. Overall, we enjoyed our day. We did see a black bear on the side of the road and got some great video. We understand the weather is outside the control of the tour company, but it still put a damper on it.
Super easy process! Really enjoyed the private audio tour that allowed us to go at our own pace. Overall great experience.
Fantastic experience! Easy to get to from cruise ship. Staff was friendly. Narration of drive and history along the way with provided iPad was great touch!
Really fun way to tour the area. We went well into the Yukon and made lots of stops for photos and lunch.
We had a great time seeing the things we wanted on our own. Much better than being on a big bus. We went all the way to Emerald Lake which was amazing. Highly recommend.
