You should be prepared to walk a lot uphill and downhill, so dress appropriately. It was a really great experience to see the prison cells. What a miserable little space to live in. There are beautiful plants and flowers all over the island and you can see that they take care of the island to preserve history.

Disappointing Visit to SF

Our Alcatraz Tour was cancelled for unscheduled maintenance. No one contacted us. We found out an hour before at Pier 33. I spent 40 minutes on the phone waiting for a $436 refund. Never using Avitor again!

Easy ferry ride. Audio tour was informative and after you can walk around and take in the beautiful 350 views all around the island. The gift store has some nice options for gifting or to take back as a souvenir.

STAY Away from Viator

DO NOT USE VIATOR!! We arrived at the dock only to be told we need to get tickets for the next boat and when we tried to get those tickets they told me my Viator tickets weren't in my name so we were out almost €600.

Many accommodations and kind service workers. The audio tour itself was really well put together and the island is well maintained. Loved the historical talks around the rock and how interactive they can be. Great experience!
