Your lesson is held at Maui’s Breakwall Beach, located in Lahaina Harbor. This spot includes restrooms, lockers, lounge chairs, and showers and is the perfect place for families to sunbathe and relax before or after the surf class.
Your instructor provides you with paddling techniques and tips for catching waves and standing up. Enjoy some of the best surfing conditions in the world as you sit in the clear, shallow surf. Your instructor is also CPR and First Aid certified, as well as a trained lifeguard. Please note that private lessons are required for groups with surfers between the ages of five and eight.
After your adventure out on the waves has concluded, you may purchase photos of the lesson, if you wish.

Small group experience with a lot of wave time. It costs a lot less and the equipment is well used, but works well and you get a lot of wave time and instruction.

Our meeting time was moved up 30 minutes. They were wonderful communicators and they were easy to find the day of the lessons. My boys really enjoyed learning to surf and can’t wait to take what they learned and do some surfing on their own.

Our instructor Scott was a cool guy and super chill. My husband and I had never surfed before but Scott’s instruction was helpful and right to the point. We must have caught around 30 waves within an hour and a half. The views from the beach of Maui were also amazing.

First, Incredible experience.
However, be ready to flex. We were originally scheduled for Tuesday at 10 but I got a call right as we were leaving to reschedule because of 50 mph winds. 😬 We ended up moving it to the next day at 8am and then later that day, it got moved to 7:30am.
There’s a reason for that. Scott and his team wanted to make sure that we got the best waves near low tide. And we did.
Scott instructed me and my 3 boys, one of which is a 270 lb lineman. Only my two younger ones had surfed before but Scott had us up after the first two or three waves. And he knew exactly where to be. We had barely paddled back out there to him before we were back on the board surfing again while others were just laying on their boards. Scott had us cycling over and over and over again. We were probably up on our board around 15 times in the hour and a half we were out there. We literally stopped because we were so tired.
And Scott has the right boards for big guys like me and my son. If you’re 215 and above, you need to book with them.
Final note: make sure you have a rash guard and not a swim shirt. He may have had some available for us, but we did not realize there was a difference between a swim shirt and a rash guard. My kids got lit up.
We had a great experience and it was good to go with a guy that’s been around for 2 decades. He knows the waves here.

So much fun! Scott was a great teacher and made the whole experience so enjoyable. I’ve tried surfing before and this was the first time I was actually able to catch waves! We wish we could take the class every day we’re here. 100% recommend to anyone visiting - so worth it.

Amazing experience would recommend this to anybody! New surfers and experienced surfers alike will all love this! Our surf instructors were very knowledgeable and kind. An hour and a half was the perfect amount of time to surf! It was a very focused experience with a small group and two instructors. We will definitely be coming back!

We signed our kids up for this experience, and it was great. Scott taught them really well, and they were up and surfing within minutes. They all really enjoyed their time in the water and thought it was well worth the money.
There are a number of surf schools right there where you meet the instructors, so you have to be prepared to possibly fight for traffic. The side of the road is torn up pretty badly, so it can be difficult to get off the road safely. It is not the school’s fault, it’s just something to be aware of. Also, the school puts a cone on the front of their truck so you can see them when you’re pulling into the area, but there are also a couple of other surf schools nearby which used cones, so it can be a little bit confusing.
If you are going to watch somebody learn to serve, I highly recommend taking a beach chair since the beach is relatively rocky and covered with tree stumps and branches.

Scott was great at teaching us quickly so we had as much time as possible in the water! We were all up the first try and had so much fun doing it! The waves were nonstop so we got to ride a wave at least 30 times!

The surf lessons were easy for novice or first time and the location was very ideal. Waves are pretty choppy and so many rip tides in socal coast. The instructor dude was very helpful and encouraging.

My kids had an amazing time with Outrageous Surf! Their instructor was patient, friendly, and made them feel comfortable and confident in the water. It was the perfect way to celebrate my son's high school graduation, and both my son and daughter had a blast. They were standing up on their boards much sooner than we expected. Great experience and less expensive than other, similar surf lesson options. Got us out on the water quickly and I was standing up on waves within 5-10 minutes despite never surfing at all before. Very encouraging throughout and the group is small enough you get plenty of individual attention. Highly recommend!

If you really want to surf, this is the experience for you! Scott was quick to get us in the water and standing almost immediately. Be ready to grind for the full 90 minutes.

First time surfing for my son and me. My daughter’s second. We absolutely loved it!!! I didn’t think I’d be able to stand, but we all did! Scott and Braden didn’t waste any time teaching and gave us all as many times to catch a wave as possible in 90 mins.

We are not sure how other surf schools do it, but Patrick has us in the water within 10 minutes and standing on our first waves. Was pretty cool! They provided water shoes, rash guards, and the boards. Thanks again!

Best price for the no frills, but great experience. Small class made for quick land instructions. Everyone was up and surfing within 1st or 2nd try, Patrick was great and the kids (13,16,19) loved it. Communication was great.

Great beginner surf class. Me and my wife had a lot of fun. The instructor was very patient and helped us really build the confidence and we were able to actually surf some waves by the end. Highly recommend them.
