The Sintra Tour with Pepe as our Guide was very informative, interesting and fun .Pepe made the Tour enjoyable he was very knowledgeable and a good leader . The only negative point , is at the meeting point of the Tour in the morning there was great confusion and chaos ….the Tour cie needs to improve and be more organized at the meeting point making sure people know which bus goes where and with which Tour Guide.
Was a great experience! Antonella was great! She knew her stuff and was very personable! I don’t regret this tour, and it was a good workout :)
This was an excellent tour and I would highly recommend our guide Pepe as well! The only drawback was the size of the crowd. If you are looking to travel with an entire bus load of people, it’s best to choose a small group tour.
Steep uphill to Pena palace. Slow moving lines to visit inside the palace which may severely reduce your time on the tour. We barely had 15 minutes to explore inside the palace before we had to head back to our bus meeting time….i recommend not going inside under these conditions. Exploring the outside allows a better, more leisurely experience.
Worth every penny. Loved our Portugal experience and Pepe is a fantastic guide, made it even more enjoyable.
The trip wasn't what I had expected. First, we did not go to Cabo de Roca (the westernmost point of mainland Europe) but instead to another location close to Cascais. Secondly, we were given two hours in Cascais with not much to do there. Then in Sintra we only had a very short time in the town and the time spent in Regaleira and Pena were just too short. I understand that it depends on the ticket entry time when we can go in but it just wasn't right for me. I would have loved to have spent more time in the gardens of Regaleira but all we could see was the initiation well and maybe 10 minutes more. Would have been better to go on own.
It was perfect, Pepe was a great guide, we switches between many languages effortlessly. It was a great tour. I recommend!
This was an amazing day. We got to see two beautiful historic palaces in Sintra as well as the town of Cascais and Cabo Roca Coast. It was a good mixture of guided time and your own free time. Our guide for the day was Gerard who was super helpful and fun too. There is lots of steep walking and climbing so you need to wear comfortable shoes and be aware of this if you have mobility issues. Would definitely recommend it!
We were so lucky to have Pedro as our guide. He made the tour so memorable and outstanding. Pedro is very knowledgeable and speaks so many languages Wow! We had the best time in Sintra.
It’s super crowded, so many tourists - crazy! That’s the one thing that I didn’t enjoy. There were so many people and traffic jams in Sintra. We also had some inconsiderate people on the bus who did not care to show up in the agreed upon meeting time at Pena. There was a family with a mobility scooter and they were rude and late. Honestly, if I were in a mobility scooter I would not pick this as an activity. Purely because the elevation and climb to the Pena castle is crazy. So if you are - consider that you have to alot enough time for yourself to make it up and back.
Despite the crazy traffic jam and being the last couple to go in, we were the first ones to do the entire castle and come back down, so we were content with the alotted time and with everything we saw. We also walked the garden and had plenty of time to take a bunch of photos.
Lastly, big shout out to Pedro! Thank you for putting so much care and heart in what you do. You are incredible and we had such a lovely time all thanks to you. When we’re back in Lisbon, we’ll be looking to book other tours and we very much will look for you as our guide. Pedro has a lot of character, provides very clear instructions and guidance, gave us extra useful information, speaks so many languages, and even took our photos. Thank you a million! We loved this tour so much and you made it special!
Wear good shoes lots of up hills. Drin lots of water listen to your guide be on time. I recommend this tour to all.
This was the highlight of my solo trip! Our guide Pepe 10/10! He was so amazing, and such a great vibe all around. He made this tour feel comfortable and almost as if we had been friends for a long time. This tour definitely requires good walking shoes, you’ll be hiking up hills and doing lots of walking to see the POI. I wish I would have known we couldn’t purchase tickets to the Castile Regaleira on location in Sintra. It was still a great time exploring the town in Sintra. Our driver Lourdes also deserves a praise she was great and was very punctual. If you don’t like to be on schedule and do some hiking, this may not be the tour for you. But overall great experience!
The tour was great! We had such a good experience. Our tour guide was very attentive and always made sure everyone in the group was accounted for before moving on to the next stop.
This tour is a great way to see many different places in a short amount of time. My boyfriend and I were in Lisbon for only a day and a half, so finding this tour was perfect for us. We were able to see so much without feeling like we missed out.
Definitely recommend it, especially if you’re visiting Lisbon for a short time!
Be in shape lots of up hill walking . Bring snacks and water. Little time for proper meal until end of trip . All new experience and you should try

You will also visit the mysterious Quinta da Regaleira and the charming fishing village of Cascais.”
The tour is presented as a way to maximize your time in Sintra and Cascais, visit several attractions in a single day, receive information from a guide and, above all, leave the transportation between the different locations to the tour operator. However, our experience fell far short of what was advertised and promised.
1- Lack of guidance and information from the tour guide
The tour guide left us alone on many occasions, without providing any information or guidance, to the point where we had to find our own way around. We do not consider this to be consistent with the service expected from a contracted tour.
2- Very demanding walking and steep inclines
The tour involves a considerable amount of walking, including some very steep and demanding uphill sections. During the tour, we saw several people, particularly elderly participants, struggling considerably to keep up with the group.
This information should be made much clearer and more prominent in the tour description, as it is an important factor for each person to consider when deciding whether they are physically able to participate.
Regarding the visit to Pena Palace, I believe the tour description should clearly state in advance that there is approximately a 30-minute walk uphill, from the entrance gate to the palace, which is located at the top of the mountain. This is extremely important information, particularly for people with reduced mobility, elderly visitors, or simply anyone who is not prepared for such a demanding walk.
Furthermore, the guide did not inform us that there is a shuttle bus that takes visitors from the entrance gate to the palace. I only discovered this option later, when I was telling a friend about this very unpleasant experience.
I find it unacceptable that such relevant information, which could have prevented such an exhausting walk, was not communicated to the participants. If an alternative transportation option is available, the minimum we should have expected was for the guide to inform the group about it and explain how to use it.
3- Problems with the bus and unnecessary excessive walking
Our bus experienced problems, and we were forced to walk a considerable distance, including a very demanding uphill section.
Some people actually gave up on the tour, while others, particularly elderly participants, had to make several stops to rest and drink water, with encouragement and support from other members of the group, rather than from the guide.
The situation reached a point where the entire group had to stop and tell the guide that we would not continue walking, as the physical effort required had exceeded what was reasonable for many of the participants.
And, surprisingly, at that very moment, a bus immediately arrived to transport us.
The obvious question is: if a bus was available, why was it not provided earlier, instead of forcing the participants to walk such a long distance?
This is particularly difficult to understand in a tour that already requires considerable physical effort due to the amount of walking and the steep inclines.
4- Change to the tour itinerary and insufficient time
Another major discrepancy compared with the original description was the change in the order of the itinerary. The tour was conducted in a different order from the one originally presented, starting with Cascais.
In addition, we had far too little time to properly visit the attractions included in the tour.
The constant feeling was that we were always racing against the clock, without enough time to experience and appreciate the places we were visiting.
A tour that promises to allow customers to “check out several must-see attractions in just one day” should, at the very least, provide a reasonable amount of time to enjoy those attractions, rather than simply rushing through them.
In conclusion, we believe there is a significant difference between what is promised in the tour description and what was actually provided. The experience was exhausting, disorganized and extremely frustrating. We paid for a tour that was supposed to make visiting Sintra and Cascais easier, but instead we were faced with long walks, a lack of information, changes to the itinerary and insufficient time to properly visit the included attractions.
We were deeply disappointed and believe that the tour did not correspond to the service advertised by VIATOR.
I enjoyed Sitra and the Pena Palace most. The driver did a fantastic job driving through the rain and fogs into the steep, curvy, and narrow streets of Sitra. An environment that reminded me of my own home town in Haiti (Kenscoff). The guide provided insightful historical backgrounds of each city and Portugal as a whole.
I only wished the bus had WiFi and power outlets to charge the phones. Also, it would be helpful to inform participants, in advance, on wearing appropriate clothes as the weather seems to be unpredictable especially at Sitra.
Wear comfortable trainers , there’s a LOT of walking and uneven surfaces, up and down hills.
Our guide Emilio was fantastic , full of fun and very informative. Sintra and Pena Palace are of course beautiful and then Cascais is an upmarket town full of restaurants bars shops and the beach.
Take water and few snacks but you can buy food on the go or sit down at Pena, Sintra and Cascais.
We had an amazing guide. He did a head count for every event and waited beyond the meeting time for those who were 15 minutes behind schedule. His English is perfection. He could easily been raised in the US or Canada. His humor was right on!
Ruben our tour guide is very nice and personal, explained everything clear and allowed time in each stop for plenty of pictures and time to enjoy and explore. Make sure you have good walking shoes is 8-9 hours of lots of walking but totally worth it. Highly recommend this tour.
The tour is amazing even though there is not much to see in Cabo roca and Cascais. Buses should have a sign with their destination. We arrived early and no driver knew where to go. After many peple gathered they placed a flag for questions. Tour guides had no badges to identify them. A lady was on her phone all the time and another guide told peolle she is ur guide but she never looked for her people. It was a mess and I use viator tours all the time. Our guide Diogo was the most helpful in guiding us and others. He was an amazing born tour guide and very friendly and easygoing. Loved him even though to translate in 3 languages is not easy but for him was a piece of cake. Good job Diogo!! You rocked! The company remained disorganized for the morning. Buses should have sign with their destination or tour name, drivers should be helpful instead of sitting on the side all to smoke and chat and saying “we dont know where to go”. Oh well, Diogo made it up for all! He actually helped others to find their spots….. He deserves the best from

We left on time. Weather is unpredictable so bring a jacket just in case it will get cold and maybe a hat or umbrella if it rains. Come prepared.
Maria was a great tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the places we visited. She gave us great recommendations about places to eat and places to take photographs. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learned a lot.
Great experience with one of the best tour leaders. He was energetic, funny and knowledgeable. He has travelled the world and knows many languages which help his tour to be excellent.
