Fun class to do in pairs. Great way to meet other travelers and learn how to make something you'll be eating several times anyways while in Lisbon. The preparation itself only takes about an hour; the rest of the time is spent mingling. Friendly instructors (I believe we had Ito?) Would recommend!

This was a first pastry cooking class for us! First time visiting Lisbon, first time making Pastel de Nada. Beatrice was an amazing teacher and helped us perfect our pastry puffs and custard. Our deserts turned out perfect and tasted SO good!! She also gave us a in depth historic background of the beginnings of this wonderful tasting Portuguese treat. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to take a pastry class. Thank you Beatrice!

    Loud, environment, detracts from experience

    Jennifer_H, Mar 2026
The class was good and pastries delicious. The room is loud and sound reverberates all around. There was another class going on consecutively with ours. I could not hear 50% of what our instructor was saying. It was nerve wracking and detracted greatly from what, otherwise, would have been wonderful. If you have any hearing impairments or cannot handle lots of auditory stimulation, maybe find a different class. If they would put up a wall with some fabric to absorb sound between the groups, I bet it would help greatly.

    Excellent class

This is a great way to learn hands on how the best Portuguese pastry is made. Highly recommend for solo or groups. The instructor was very helpful and easy to follow. I was surprised how easy it was to make.

Miguel was an excellent teacher! My friend and I both had prior baking skills, yet he gave us some helpful tips that we will definitely be using in the future. The pastel de natas were delicious and i love that I will be able to make them for my friends and family back home.

    A Delicious Experience

This is a fun, no- pressure cooking class that can be enjoyed by adults and “tweens”. Our group of 4 adults was joined by others for a “hands-on” lesson to make Pastelde Nadas. The presenter was an experienced chef who walked us through the recipe and then allowed time for us to enjoy the tarts. It was a great way to learn how to make this Lisbon delicacy and meet some very nice people , too.

    Great experience

An amazing experience making Natas with friends. We really enjoyed this experience. We were two families with young children and everyone, young and old, had a wonderful time. The added coffee and juice was perfection.

This was a lot of fun and another way to experience pastels! The instructor was knowledgeable, the cooking area clean and well organized. Step by step instructions were easy to follow, even for children. Eating pastels fresh out of the oven was the best part!

The instructor gives you helpful feedback throughout the hands-on parts of the class so you know whether you're rolling out the pastry correctly. The materials and tools used are top knotch.

    Hands-on, Informative, and Fun

I went with my partner for a 9 PM session hosted by Chef Beatrice. She was delightful and I can tell she has a passion for sharing the history and joy of everything pastel de nata. The location is between Belem and Baixa, near the LX Factory, and the entrance next to a bus stop, so if public transportation is your preferred method, it is very convenient. Beatrice made the cooking class very enjoyable by dropping both historical and baking knowledge. Our group had 7 people in total, and we were able to pair up for our own working stations. Everything is provided including your choice of beverage, water, orange juice, and even beer. We were able to taste our pastel de natas once they were done baking, just be warned, they are piping hot! We were able to take home the 10 pastel de natas we made and Beatrice gave us boxes to take them home in. They also sell the small baking tins to bake in if you'd like to bring them home. Overall I very much enjoyed the time baking and learning the history and cultural significance of this decadent pastry. It's a fun event to wind down from all the walking up and down the hills of Lisbon.

Our host during the class was excellent. He made this experience well with it. Even if you never baked before no problem .

Miguel was patient and created a nice environment (especially for those of us with no skills!) He was hands on helping us with techniques. We had a lot of fun and learned a bunch. We are embracing Miguel’s mantra that “it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish” :) And our pastel de nata came out delicious!
