10/10 experience in learning how to make Pastel De Nata. Instructor was very kind and engaging. Would recommend for anyone looking to learn how to make this pastry as it was very beginner friendly. I went there solo and made a friend so don’t be afraid to out yourself out there! Everyone was super friendly.

I went to humor my mother-in-law and daughter yet I enjoyed it thoroughly. I am inspired to make them at home for friends and family. Sergio was a great teacher. I love that we got a detailed recipe via email. It was something that my mother-in-law, my daughter and I will always remember. And who knows, maybe making pastel de nata will now be a family tradition!

A wonderful experience learning to make these ubiquitous Portuguese pastries. Our instructor Sylvia patiently explained and demonstrated all the steps, jumping in to assist when needed. Very organized with all the necessary ingredients and tools at hand. They turned out great - quite delicious! I feel pretty confident I'll be able to make these at home!

Really fun experience- even for people who don’t bake. Also a great option during poor weather in Lisbon!

When in Lisbon…you might as well learn how to make them! Otherwise, you will be yearning for them!

Long review on an incident but cooking class itself was great!

Vivian_S, Mar 2026
The class it self was fine but when the chef tried to scam me of 2 milkshakes was what ruined the experience. Just be sure to remember that your lesson includes a non alcoholic beverage at the "END" of your class....everything was going really well with our class until we had a short break to let our dough sit and chef Sergio told us that if we'd like to purchase a beverage while we wait we can...he mentioned lattes, expresso martinis, and milkshakes (while looking at my teens) so of course my kids wanted milkshakes. I went and paid for them (along with getting an expresso martini for myself) and came back to class to finish up our cooking lesson. Literally 10 mins after the break we finished and put our pastries in the oven to cook and chef Sergio tells the group again that our tickets include a free non alcoholic drink. I'm like hey why didn't you tell us that before because we just bought our drinks (someone else in our group did too and looked confused). He proceeded to say well this was in your ticket and it says END of class not during the break. I'm like are you serious right now? It put such a bad taste in my mouth that they'd try to scam you for some drinks knowing it was included at the end of class. I said well even if it's for the end of class and not during class you could've mentioned it as I bought these tickets a month ago and didn't remember the fine print. His response was this..."well I did say IF you wanted to buy drinks..I didn't say you had to". Needless to say I went back to the cafe and complained as these tickets for cooking class was one of the most expensive on Viator...they ended up refunding me the 12 euros for 2 milkshakes. It wasn't even about the money but the way they tried to trick me into buying it knowing it was included was beyond shady and left a bad taste to the entire experience. It's one thing to upsell - like if you want to sell your alcoholic drinks during the break (which I did buy an espresso martini and it was delicious). There's plenty of classes on Viator that does cooking lessons for much cheaper with a free alcoholic drink included so this just left a bad taste for me. Even everyone else in our class said that seemed really shady what they did to you. So unnecessary.

Super fun and tasty!

This class was awesome! Silvia was an excellent teacher. She was very fun and also very kind and took the time to get to know the class. I never thought we could make Pastel de Natas that would taste so good and have such amazing crust, but we did it! The crust was sooo flaky. It was so fun and they gave us the recipe at the end which was great. We will definitely try to make these at home. Love, love love this class!

Baking Fun

Karen_L, Mar 2026
Great fun and informative experience! The chef was amazing and easy to work with! Each group works together and makes the pastry and filling. Participants get to try each part of the process, making their own dough, adding ingredients to the filling g and filling their own tarts. The chef keeps everything labeled and in order so you get to make and eat your own tarts! At the end of the class which is at a relaxed pace, you get a drink and get to sit down and eat your tarts and/or take them in a take away box. There are restrooms and water is available. A definite “must do” if you like sweets and trying new baking techniques!

This class was great, and really fun. Our instructor walked us through every step, so no experience was needed. IT was fun to learn to make flaky pastry, as well as the custard inside, and to be a part of something so simple yet so iconic of Portugal. And I loved getting to know my fellow classmates!

Great hands on learning!...

Ins and Outs of Pastel de Nata!

ksrock203, Jan 2026
Sergio Garcia was the instructor and led an amazing experience at Natelier! These were the best Pastel de Nata we had on our entire trip! I highly recommend taking this class and enjoy meeting new people while learning all the ins and outs of this delicate pastry and custard!

Good hands-on but still waiting to received recipe

Juliana_R, Jan 2026
Good hands on, with only 2 participants it gave us more time to ask questions on the techniques. The tarts tasted good too, not too sweet. My only issue is I’m still waiting for the recipe which they promised to email but I’ve not received it.
