After raining most of the day, weather somewhat cleared up for this walk. We went with a tour as we didn't have a car and only had limited time, so value for cost was good. Scenery was beautiful although we didn't see any animals. Our guide Caleb was knowledgeable about the area and trails, if a little chatty and sometimes we did feel a bit rushed.

Hi Carla,
Thanks for leaving us a review about your experience with us. Yep, it's been a little rainy and the animals have been hiding! The tall grass can make it a little difficult to find them at times. We can only try! Thanks for letting me know about your experience with your guide, Caleb. Your feedback will help us fine tune his guiding skills to help guests into the future :)

Bryce and Liv were great. We enjoyed our chats while hiking on the beautiful day we had in Anchorage. We had a small group and we were able to really walk at our own pace and not be overwhelmed. A great way to get close to nature.

Our guide was Jacob who was excellent. He is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and has a passion for what he does.
Our only disappointment or surprise had to do with how the tour was advertised to us online. It was represented as a nature walk but it was more of a mild hike. Mind you, we are capable of a mild hike but based on the fact that we thought we were taking a nature walk we were not dressed appropriately for a mild hike. In fact had I known ahead of time what this excursion entailed, at this point in time I would not have booked it based on my husband‘s current health history. So I think it is important for people to know that this is more than a nature walk and involves walking on uneven and even slippery terrain at times and one must definitely dress appropriately for walking in the bush.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Hi sherry,
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Jacob called us directly after your tour yesterday to speak about your concerns; I apologize for not following up with you sooner.
He mentioned exactly what you’ve presented here. So, the first thing I did was check out your description to verify what we’re presenting reflects your comments.
Our suggestions do mention that hiking/walking are the modes used during the activity, and that people should be able to walk 2 miles on uneven or hilly terrain and 3 miles on flat pavement. We mention that parts of the trail are steep and hilly, as well as that we visit the Flattop Mountain trail, which is a wilderness destination.
Also, we state that people with cardiac, respiratory, joint issues, or other serious medical issues should not sign up for the tour.
I appreciate your comments, but much of what you mention is indeed captured in our tour description. Please feel free to reread it if you feel what I mention is in error.
What I will add to the description is that the the nature walk takes place on a dirt/rocky trail vs. a paved trail.
Thanks again for joining us on the tour even if it wasn’t fully what you expected. Heard you saw a moose with calves! 🙂

We had a nice, easy hike with a young enthusiastic guide who was knowledgeable about the local flora (we didnt really see fauna) and kept the walk to our pace. We saw incredible scenery and spent a lovely morning.

Small group. Very knowledgeable guide. Didn't see much Fauna this trip (hardly any, anywhere we went last week) - did see a very interesting native frog. Flora - quite a few edible plants and our guide showed us the plants to stay away from.

Matt is awesome! Very knowledgeable about the area and hikes. This tour is also great if you’re a solo traveler or beginner in hiking who wants to learn more about nature. We weren’t able to see a moose or a bear (they’re unpredictable) but the hike inside the rain forrest was quite relaxing and fun. This is definitely a must and I recommend it to people who are in Anchorage for a short amount of time. Thanks Matt for the awesome trip!
Response from Host, May 2021
Thanks again Desiree! I hope you are able to catch a glimpse of our Moose during your stay.
Take Care.

Flora and Fauna tour is a great experience during which you can hike along South Fork Eagle River trail to see Barbara Falls. Matthew has lots of information about flora and fauna, it is like a real biology lesson. Highly recommend, great tour for unforgettable experiences and photos
Response from Host, Sep 2020
Hello Ava! What fun it was taking you out the other day. Thank you for your kind words, and, who knows? I might just have to get a Doctorate in Biology one day! 🙂
Take Care,
Matt
