Such an amazing experience.Truly something you don’t get to experience every day. Madison was our guide at the glacier and she made it so fun! The hike itself was pretty simple, some areas of steepness but overall, great! We were able to sample glacial water and walk through a crevasse. Ryan was our overall tour guide, he was very informational and fun to get to know. We stopped at The Honey Hive on the way back and sampled honey, jams and jelly’s, and wine. It was a great last stop before our beautiful drive home.

I was truly happy to have lived that experience. Every moment felt special, from the breathtaking views along the road to the stunning landscapes that surrounded me. The journey itself was peaceful and inspiring, and hiking all the way to the glacier made it even more unforgettable. Being so close to nature, seeing its beauty up close, and feeling the fresh air made me appreciate the experience deeply. It is something I will always remember with joy.

Glacier hike was great experience. We had really good time hiking on glacier. Our tour guide Dan was extremely nice guy and gave us lots of information about the tour. Walking on glacier with spectacular view made our tour a memorable one. Also small stop at honey tasting was good.

it was a great experience, just expecting to see more, but cant really control the weather/nature. it was still great though! 👌

The glacier was AMAZING! The crew at glacier that guides you were super nice and basically rockstars. I will say, the drive there is pretty tough. It’s a lot of winding, beat up bumpy roads, and if your driver hits those turns going too fast then slams on the breaks like we had, bring some Dramamine…but she was very nice! The shop for the local honey and wine tasting is a cool little place. Not a true tasting but worth the stop! We didn’t get to try the wine, but the honey was really good and the woman making the coffee was very sweet. This glacier hike is a once in a lifetime opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Tour operator was very nice and professional and the glacier walk itself was amazing. The honey and wine shop is cute too.

Didn’t care for it. The pictures are misleading as we went in August. So we were walking on black debris. Just walked on rocks. It was not white at all. Wouldn’t recommend in the summer. Probably different in the winter. And, it was over a 2 hr drive there from Anchorage and 2 hour drive back.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Christian, I am sorry you didn't enjoy the glacier. Actually the picture looks just like the glacier you hiked on. Glaciers are always changing, yes during the summer there are some rocks, due to not having much snow, and more ice. However the glacier guides due a wonderful job explaining the glacier and how it often changes. The drive actually was less then 2 hours. In the description of our tour it does state the length of the drive time. The drive to and from the glacier is so beautiful. The scenery is stunning. You should come back in the winter and experience Alaska to see the snow and all the beauty it has to offer.

The 2 hour drive was beautiful and our driver Kim was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
Our glacier guide Bennett was amazing. He was fun and you could tell he enjoyed his job. Our 12 year old son has decided he wants to come back when he’s older and be a glacier guide.
The glacier hike was long and you needed to focus but the spikes helped and every step was even more beautiful. I would not recommend for anyone who struggles with balance.

Great tour of the enormous glacier, we learned a lot of interesting facts from Frank our glacier tour guide. Frank was patient with our group as some people had an easier time with the terrain than others. Things to note, it is cold there even in July, wear layers including a winter jacket, wear hiking shoes or boots even though they give you crampons, and know that the terrain isn’t even. All that being said, we loved the hike and would do it again. BTW, my husband and I are both over 60 yrs old.
The honey and “wine” tasting were definitely not the highlight of the trip.

This was a great experience… Beautiful sites, and all the logistics taken care of by White Raven tours. Hiking the glacier was amazing. We had a brilliant beautiful day. I would definitely book this trip again so easy and so worth the money.
Tracy_N, Jul 2025
A 2 1/2 hour drive to get there from Anchorage but worthwhile. The surface of the glacier is bumpy and uneven but we had crampons so that helped. We dressed warmly but was shedding our coats from hiking around the glacier. Lots of beautiful blue ice and plenty of dirt and gravel also.
Julie_P, Jul 2025
Guide was fantastic. Offered a 360 drone of the glacier and group along the way. We had an adventurous group and believe we were able to hike a little higher than some other groups. Great experience.
Eileen_G, Jul 2025
Our driver Taylor was GREAT and our guide Johnson was very capable and got us through an energetic hike to a highpoint on the glacier.
Bill_H, Jul 2025
The overall trip was good and the glacier was fascinating but the people at the check-in desk before we started directed us to give a $20 tip to our guide. That’s not how tips work. Given the price of the event, this was a real turnoff for us.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Were glad you enjoyed the Glacier Bill. I cant tell you how much it annoys us that they do that as well. Your 100% correct, a tip is earned and should not be expected. We have made several attempts to have them stop with that baloney but we will keep trying. Thank you for your input.

We had a wonderful time! The trip was fantastic. The glacier is amazing and the glacier tour guides were phenomenal.
Pack a lunch, water, and dress warm, with layers! Hiking boots are a must.
The wine and honey at the end is really just a brief stop, not really a wine tasting.

Kim is an awesome tour guide. She is so friendly and knowledgeable. Honestly, would take this tour again if it was with her and the same glacier tour hike guide. It was AMAZING! You get your bang with your buck.
Joseph_S, Jun 2025
A fascinating tour. I learned a lot about glaciers and Alaska in general, and got plenty of exercise in the process. The van driver and glacier guide were both personable and informative.
Holly_K, Jun 2025
It was wonderful, beautiful, the glacier was an awesome experience. The guide, Jacob was very informative. Told us th8ngd never knew before.
Michael_S, Jun 2025
Great tour...awesome guides, wine and honey shop were great. Good hometown type of place. The guides on the glacier were super cool and focused a lot on the safety of the group. Driver was awesome, he even hooked me up with a fishing expedition contact the next day. All around great experience.
Edgardo_M, Jun 2025
Wonderful experience! Although it was a wet day, the tour guide made the best of it. Taught us about the Glacier and its history. Allowed adequate time for pictures spots. Even alloys to drink some of the ice water! Definitely recommend it.

Our family had an absolutely incredible time on the Matanuska Glacier tour! From start to finish, everything was smooth, exciting, and educational. Our tour guide, Thomas, was not only extremely knowledgeable about the glacier and its surroundings, but also friendly and engaging — he made the experience both fun and informative for all of us.
Our driver was equally fantastic, sharing interesting insights along the way and keeping the ride comfortable and enjoyable. The entire day was full of awe-inspiring views and memorable moments we’ll be talking about for a long time.
If you’re visiting Anchorage with family, this tour is a must-do! We highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore Alaska’s stunning natural beauty.

This was definitely one of our most favorite adventures we went on during our week in Alaska! The glacier was huge and breathtaking. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly she kept all 9 of us safe and informed the entire time. She took the most amazing photos of all of us throughout the trip so the whole family could be in unforgettable memories. I cannot say enough good things about this adventure. Our bus ride to the glacier was also amazing and our guide was lovely and very informative. She pointed out stunning views along the drive and gave us history of the land and the people. I do recommend getting 2 bottles of water when you stop for lunch because you will want the second after the hike. Also bring an empty water bottle and they will allow you to take fresh glacier water from the top and bring empty containers if you want to collect glacier silt for later use. We have the best memories that have just no comparison from this trip.

You will be well supported and educated at the same time. Madison was our guide and helped my husband conquer his fear of heights by keeping him informed about what was coming up next on our hike. She was awesome!
PHILIP_G, May 2025
This hike was REALLY DEMANDING over UNEVEN SURFACES for my wife and myself! (We are older and not very stable anymore)
I WISH YOU WOULD HAVE
SAID SO IN YOUR ONLINE ADVERTISEMENT before we signed up.
ALSO, your advertisement said NOTHING about a 3 HOUR DRIVE EACH WAY to/from Anchorage, NOR a 3-4 MILE Hike for this excursion!
Response from Host, May 2025
Philip, we are sorry you had a difficult walk but glaciers are NOT flat surfaces. We provide Ice Cleats and walking poles for everyone but we also cannot possibly know everyone's physical capabilities. If you would have mentioned to your guide any physical limitations we would have accommodated you and your wife so you were comfortable. As far as the drive, it clearly states its a 2 hour drive to the glacier and that the tour lasts 8 1/2 hours. The hike itself is approximately two miles but will vary depending on the time of year and where we can safely take our groups. With all this said we do hope you and your wife enjoyed the wonderful ice formations and beautiful blue ice on the glacier.

It was a great experience, fun group, awesome driver and guides. The wine and honey tasting was the cherry on top!

I love outdoor activities, and this one was nice! It was beautiful, and our driver was so kind and lovely.
Our guide on the glacier was kind and knowledgeable.
In terms of experiences, it was cool. It didn’t knock my socks off (maybe because I prefer self-guided tours and the hike on the glacier was shorter than I would have liked), but it was neat. Lots of people could have managed the trip, so it’s super accessible.
Lauren_R, Apr 2025
Our Drivers were so nice, funny and knowledgeable about the area we were traveling to as well as the state itself.
Very nice people, answered all our questions, told stories about their experiences in Alaska
Matanuska Glacier, we had a different guide take us through, we walked, took lots of pictures and learned a lot.
The Honey Hut trip and the end was fantastic, lots if delicious locally made honey, wine, vinegar and treats.
I would definitely recommend this experience for solo travels and groups
Johanna_D, Mar 2025
Our guide Taylor was awesome, great to talk to, and drove us far out safely to the glacier. We would book again. Experience of the glacier hike itself was so beautiful. We had an enthusiastic guide separately who was kind of weird but altogether a great experience. Beautiful pics. Expansive vibes.
Edfany_S, Mar 2025
Amazing!!!! Very knowledgeable guide! Chris was super fun and showed us all the nice spots! Breathtaking glacier
Ashley_E, Mar 2025
The Matanuska Glacier is absolutely beautiful. A nice easy going hike through the Glacier with a lot of great photo opportunities. It’s worth the experience. Also, a nice little stop at a local winery and honeybee farm on the way back to town to top off the experience. Highly recommend if visiting Anchorage.
