And Sophia, our guide, was simply wonderful—so passionate, knowledgeable, and full of positive energy that made the whole experience truly engaging and memorable.
The glacier views were breathtakingly beautiful—a sight we’ll cherish for a long time. We can only imagine how amazing it would be in the summer, so we’re already looking forward to coming back next year!

Amazing tour to Matanuska Glacier! The experience was incredible and very well organized. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained a lot about the glacier, the landscape, and the history of the area. Lori was also very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. They both made the tour fun, informative, and safe. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska!

A must do ! Matanuska happens to be the largest road accesible glacier in North America: The tour is perfectly organized and the guides extremely knowledgeable. End of March was perfect timing, we had a very sunny day with temperatures close to 32F (0 C). Sunlight shining over that much ice is worth seeing !

We really enjoyed this trip. Lori was a fun person who is very knowledgeable about the area. Nick was a great guide on the glacier. The glacier hike was amazing to see and do. Lunch was also good.

Experience is great, must-do when in Anchorage. Lori is amazing (and the owner)!!!
Side note: you can also book this tour directly with the glacier park, but then you have to drive on snowy, windy roads for a couple hours.

It was a lovely tour guided by the owner, Lori, who was knowledgeable and shared a lot of her experiences throughout the journey to the glacier. My only small gripe was that the van stayed quite cold all day, so we kept our jackets on the whole time. Other tours I’ve been on usually kept the vehicle warmer. I would also have appreciated more information about the geology or history of the region.
There were four of us in Lori’s group that day. Once we reached the glacier, we were handed over to the glacier guiding company and combined with other groups, forming a group of around 14 people. The glacier company provides warm clothing if needed, as well as cleats. It does get extremely cold on the glacier — the wind was incredibly strong and felt closer to –30°C. The wind also blew tiny bits of snow and ice into our faces, so I’d definitely recommend bringing sunglasses.
The glacier guide was excellent and very informative, and overall it was a fascinating experience. It appears that only this glacier guide company is allowed to guide there so basically all the tours offer a very similar experience, plus return transport to the glacier.
The key downside for me was that the group included people with very different physical abilities. Although we spent about two hours on the glacier, we moved at a very slow pace and covered only a short distance. Much of the time was spent waiting for people to take photos at each stop, which made the experience feel a bit commercialised. The glacier itself is absolutely stunning and 100% worth visiting.
Personally, I would have preferred an option for a more active, higher-intensity exploration so we could see more of the glacier. I understand the need to keep the glacier accessible to everyone, especially with multiple tour groups present, but it would be great if there were ways to accommodate different activity levels.
The lunch stop was incredibly scenic and the food was good too.

We had a blast!! The glaciers were so absolutely beautiful, the snow had freshly fallen so it was truly a winter wonderland. Our tour guide Alyssa helped us up into beautiful hard to reach places and we explored so many glacier caves and beauties. Also wasn’t a hard hike in the slightest!

That's it my vacation break , I choose the Anchorage for hike at Maranuska with Viator, and fir 1st time in my life that's hike on the ice Gracier on the top of mountain.. the Tour guide was friendly and kind so between on the road to hike she explained for the story in Anchorage Alaska, her name is Lori.. and then when I get in the National Park and I met the another Tour Guide that's he will bring me and group Tour Going up to the top of mountain for walked and hiking..his name is Tom he so nice and funny I love ❤️ that..so he explained and let's us know everything for the ice and gracier..great and ❤️ so much.. I will recommended for my friends for the Tour and great experiences with Tom for hike in Matanuska AK. 1st time of my Life .

Amazing. Take the early tour! Lori and Alyssa were wonderful. Would come back and do it again. Great trip for the family. Beautiful sites. The weather was perfect. Lori and Alyssa are amazing story tellers and they know their Alaska and glacier history and facts. Definitely recommend booking 907 Tours to do the glacier hike.

Best tour we’ve been on during our whole trip, and one of the best I’ve ever been on!
Lori was our guide, and she also owns the company, so it felt very special. You can tell how much she loves the outdoors by the energy that she gives when sharing it with others.
We thought it was a little pricey at first, but after doing research and reading reviews from other places, we were 100% sure this was the right tour to book. Worth every penny!
The ride to and from the glacier went by faster than I expected; probably because of the amazing views, along with Lori’s commentary.
Main event: GLACIER TIME! Absolutely amazing experience! When you get to the base camp, you’re fitted with microspikes (and snow pants/gear if needed), you then get on a sled pulled by a snowmobile until you get to the glacier itself. Sophie guided us across, around and even through glaciers and crevasses. She was so knowledgeable about the environment and her energy was contagious!
There are so many tours to choose from, but I really hope you choose 907 Tours!

One of the best and most unique experiences I have had! The drive to the glacier was very beautiful. And our guide Lori stopped at scenic spot to let us take pictures. The hike itself was also extremely cool. They took us to a variety of glacier formations/landscapes and it was very interactive. The experience exceeded our expectation. After the hike, Lori took us to this beautiful restaurant that overlooks the glaciers. Big shoutout to our wonderful guide Lori, who told us so many interesting stories and facts throughout the trip and made this experience truly heartwarming and wholesome. She is also a really great driver!

The Glacier hike was one of the coolest hikes I’ve ever done, and I’ve done a lot of hiking over the years. The shuttle driver Billy was a great host on the way there and back from anchorage. I sat up front with him and we exchanged hiking stories. He was a good driver and super friendly! Our guide was very knowledgeable and super friendly and funny too. Overall a great experience and I would go a second time if I’m ever in the area again.

This involves two companies. 908 gets you there and back and takes you to a nearby place for a tasty lunch (you pay). We were picked up as promised at our Anchorage hotel on time for the roughly 2 hour drive there. Driver was very knowledgable about Alaska, stories of wildlife. We appreciated his perspective (though, a bit of quiet on the way back would have been welcome). Once we arrived, we crossed into private property to get to the glacier where we met our guide and walked across a series of portable bridges to get onto the glacier (they have to move the bridges each morning as things shift constantly). He was very chill, knowledgeable about glacier activity, ice behaviors, etc. We always felt safe and left with a real connection to this amazing Alaska phenomenon.

I am a 24-year-old female and was on a solo trip. This hiking tour was definitely amazing and not quite stressful. Tony from 907 tour company, was definitely friendly and quite helpful and responsible, he took time to pick up everybody and patiently introduced things about Anchorage. The young guide who led us hiking on the glacier was also very professional and was so patient with ladies and kids when there was some big steps on ice. We were lucky since it was a sunny day when we hiked, but it would be better if we could reach the peak of the glacier ranges.

This is by far the best excursion we’ve been on all vacation. Our driving guide-Tony-was kind, knowledgeable, and super fun to spend our whole day with. On our drive to the glaciers he pointed out some cool facts about the mountains and lakes we were passing. Even on our way back, we had some extra time and Tony allowed us the opportunity to drive to the top of the mountain where we saw the most beautiful river with an amazing view. He was very patient with our 5 million questions, and never once rushed us when we wanted to take extra pictures- and he’s also pretty impressive with a guitar!
Jason was our extraordinary hiking guide and his immense expertise on hiking through the glaciers made it so fun, interactive and worthwhile. He taught us cool fun facts about crevices created in glaciers, the science behind how a glacier is formed, and even allowed us to drink glacier water which was the biggest hit of our hike (who knew water could be so exciting). If you’re going to book this excursion you MUST do it with Jason because he’s not only fun, but he was safe and cautious with our group, and kept and eye out on all of us.
Quick tips: you need to bring some form of hiking shoes because my pink Nike running shoes were cute, but not durable for glacier hiking. It’s always better to bring extra layers because although it’s July and the weather was fairly nice, it definitely changed on various parts of the glacier and having a hoodie really helped. Bring a water bottle to fill up on some of that pure glacier water, and some sun glasses because the sun was really shining. I can’t recommend this excursion enough.
