Good option

Robert_R, Jul 2026
Good service but there was a worse variation of narration between drivers and wait times were a little longer than we expected.

Waste of money

Vincent_A, Jul 2026
The company overbooks the passes to the shuttle. On the day we went, thousands of people from the same group had tickets as well. There were never seats on the bus so you ended up waiting for two to three other buses to come so you could get on and go to next stop. The use of this shuttle system caused more anxiety than anything. The only good thing that came out of it is that me met Birdy, best driver and tour guide there is. I would strongly not recommend this company. Biggest waste of money!!!!!

Great tour

Charidy_B, Jul 2026
We had a great time using the hop on hop of shuttle tour to get around the city to see all the sites.

John_A, Jul 2026
The bus never showed up. The app didnt tell us what buss to look for. After asking multiple workers at thee Arlington cemetery and getting different answers and waiting around for an hour. We left and drove ourselves. Threw away $135 for nothing! Never use this again. What a waste of time and money!

Good way to see the sights, great knowledgeable staff

Stuart_M, Jul 2026
We had a great time using the trolley bus tour. The drivers were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. The stops were conveniently placed for all the major attractions. The only downside is that they stop at 4pm, if you get off and go in to places for an hour or perhaps 2, your day is very soon eaten up we did a full tour then decided what stops we wanted. Overall I would recommend

Wonderful tour despite setbacks

Lani_T, Jul 2026
I’ve used Viator several times on my travels and they do not disappoint. My recent trip to DC for the América 250 was wonderful despite road closures which affected our tour. I requested for a partial refund but Viator gave me a full refund. I will not hesitate to use Viator again on my future travels. Thank you Viator.

Great experience even when things don’t go as planned

Jennifer_P, Jul 2026
Be mindful if there are special activities happening in the city, it may affect your itinerary. All of the staff and the drivers are super friendly. I loved how knowledgeable the driver was about the city and even added personal experiences from his youth being from the area and places he would visit and how things had changed over the years. Great experience and Customer Service is fantastic

Sheelagh_T, Jul 2026
Drivers full of knowlege of area. Lots of stories. Sarge was great.we missed 3 stops due to activities on the 4th. But Drivers were very good at telling us the closest to each memorial.

Selling tours to monuments that are closed is bad business.

Keith_B, Jul 2026
The driver was very knowledgeable and did his job well. However, we got to see about 1/2 the sites and were told AFTER we paid and boarded that NO Arlington. Do NOT take a monuments tour when 1/2 the city is closed off for America 250.

Don't go on holidays or special events

Heather_H, Jul 2026
Don't do trolly on special event times. Half of the stops were closed and could not go to the Arlington Cemetery or most of the monuments. We got off first stop and took the metro to every where.

Colossal Disappointment

Rebecca_A, Jul 2026
This was an extremely disappointing experience. Our Hop-on/Hop-off 21 stop trolley tour cancelled more than half the stops the night before we were scheduled to tour. We had been planning a trip to D.C. for a long time, and when the most important sights we hoped to see were no longer an option, it felt like it was a very expensive, wasted trip. Granted, it was the 250th Anniversary of America, but to have the news of cancellation of more than half the attractions dropped on me a few hours before tour time was difficult. I was given the option of a full refund, or pay full-price, which had already been charged, for less than half the original tour. I wish the offer of a 50% refund had been offered. I decided to go ahead and pay full-price for half the tour. The check-in process was efficient. We boarded the trolley and headed out. Our tour guides name was M Dot. While he was a very nice guy, he was impossible to understand. He was very mush-mouth in his speech and spoke so quickly you could barely understand a word he said. We completed this tour and immediately boarded the next trolley so we could actually decipher the commentary. This guide spoke clearly and we learned many interesting things.

Only way to see DC

Susan_E, Jul 2026
Be flexible! Holidays and traffic can be a challenge to the driver but ours handled it perfectly. He was entertaining, knowledgeable and fun to be with.

Waste of Time

Denise_F, Jul 2026
Once on the trolley we were told we would not get to see more than half of the 21 stops including Arlington Cemetery which is why we booked this more expensive tour to begin with. They should’ve informed us ahead of time so we could cancel with a refund or given us a discount since we got less than half of the tour. Guy giving tour was sarcastic. Definitely would not recommend and will never go again.

Disappointed for the money spent and road closures making many stops unavailable.

Janet_N, Jul 2026
Generally this is a brand Im familiar with however many stops were not available and it was too hot on the trolley. The price should've been cheaper based on the fact many stops were unavailable due to the road closures, etc. We abandoned the ride after the second stop.

Denied tour...not available

Kimberlee_B, Jul 2026
This tour was not available due to the holiday, but we were not told that until after it was booked by one of the top trolley drivers as we tried to get on & were denied. Please refund this tour.

Don’t book during a holiday

Debbie_Z, Jul 2026
Several stops weren’t available which made the tour worthless for us since those were the stops we wanted.

Great guide!

Danielle_P, Jul 2026
We took this tour over the 250th anniversary celebration weekend. Because of the many road closures (new ones were added the morning of our tour), our driver, Duke, was not able to take us to the stops in the tidal basin area....and traffic was crazy. Despite those challenges, Duke did a great job telling us about the city, providing tips if you wanted to walk to sites we missed, and getting us around safely. We used the Metro to get to Arlington to do that portion of the tour.

Could be helpful to some. But not for everyone.

Don_B, Jul 2026
Long waits for bus at each stop. Some stops canceled or rerouted often due to D. C. Activities. The drivers had good information, but some were difficult to understand as they spoke. You can get a good look at the area as you ride. But it takes a long time doing the entire route/loop. Better to just walk, or taxi to specific landmark or location. Then walk from there.

Edna_A, Jul 2026
It was a good tour and the drivers were also very good a telling the history behind everything. The only downside is at some stops the trolleys were full so you had to wait for the next trolley.

Makes touring easy

Great tour guides. Personable. Knowledgeable. Funny. Helpful.........................................

Great way to tour the sights.

Janice_J, Jun 2026
We purchased the 21 stop tour. The rain dampened our day of visiting all the stops. But overall, I would do it again.

Bad Day

Peter_V, Jun 2026
Total waste of money and too expensive for what was available. There were no signs at pickup points, so we were unsure of where to meet the trolley. Due to 4th July celebration preparations roads were closed and access limited. This should have been mentioned before booking. We have used Viator in Europe with absolutely no problems, here at home, not a great experience. When trying to contact the company, we could not understand the representative because of bad English.

Juanita_P, Jun 2026
Even though it was a very rainy day, we enjoyed it. Only suggestion would be to make the speakers project voice better. Hard to hear & with rude people talking you really couldn't hear the history.

DC tour

Caron_S, Jun 2026
Great drivers. Safe driving. A wealth of information I would have missed without the tour. Comfortable buses. I love that the bus windows were open.

Very good activity to enjoy

Rhonda_R, Jun 2026
Easy experience, meet up at Union station. To take the tour, get on and off as you like to what you would like to see

A great experience! The drivers were amazing and helpful in how to best plan around stops. Highly recommend!

Washington - USA Tour

Graeme_M, Jun 2026
Guides were excellent as was the tour. For me, the seats were a little uncomfortable with fairly narrow leg-room. That was my only (first-world) complaint!

Jennifer_K, Jun 2026
It was fabulous! Get off the stops you want to explore in order to save time. We also had the Arlington Tram tour.

So worth the money.

Patricia_A, Jun 2026
Drivers were great, very knowledgeable and funny. Most important, very skillful drivers in all the traffic. Loved riding on the bus, we were lucky to have beautiful weather . We also used the tram at Arlington Cemetery, and that was wonderful

Confused at first on where to go

Stephanie_M, Jun 2026
We have done many hop on/hop off tours over the years and this one in DC was great with the different sites to see but poor with the amount of time we spent waiting and confused. We were at Union Station at 8:45am at the tour desk inside the station and no one was there. We walked outside and around the station to see if there was any information posted and we had to ask someone who I think worked for a cab company where to meet the bus. It was then were were told the tour pick up location had moved the day before to a new location however no one knew where the new location was moved to because there were still no reps from the tour company there. We would have thought that there would be something posted with the new location at the check in area inside the station but there was not. When the tour company reps got there at 9am, they were all VERY nice and VERY apologetic to the growing group of tour takers. Once we got on the bus and started going, it was all very smooth. Shout out to Duke the driver and the African American driver with lots of energy (sorry cannot remember his name)....they were fantastic! One other thing that was irritating, we waited A LONG time for the bus to Arlington Cemetery....like almost an hour which we thought was crazy. However, the bus driver that shuttles from the Korean and Lincoln Memorials area to Arlington Cemetery was amazing. She wasn't clear and where to pick up the bus once the tour to the cemetery was over because it isn't in the same spot where we were dropped off so we were walking around outside where the bus initially dropped us off. She saw us walking around looking lost and she stopped the bus to ask if we needed a ride back. That was so nice of her and she didn't have to do that. We really appreciated all of the employees, they were GREAT. Just wish the communication was a little better.
