I would not recommend

Lesley_C, Apr 2026
I never received my tickets. I was not able to get anyone to communicate regarding the confirmation and they would not refund

It's ok!

David_P, Apr 2026
The tour was OK and convenient. One driver and guide we thought was not good. His name was Duke. He talked down to people trying to board the trolley and was harsh in his descriptions of the sights. The driver from the Lincoln Memorial to Arlington and back was great!

Benwie_T, Apr 2026
The tour was amazing. No delays. The staff has a great sense of humor, and were knowledgeable about the tour.

Don’t waste your time or money

KAREN_K, Apr 2026
Do not do this tour. First of all there were not 21 stops plus Arlington as advertised. This is False advertising. There were 15 of which 3 were not accessible due to 250 anniversary renovations. I realize that part is not in their control and I am not dinging them for that. However I do not know what happened to the other 6 stops plus Arlington cemetery. When I went to the main welcome center the guy scanned our ticket and gave us a booklet with 15 stops. I said what about Arlington he said you need a ticket for that. and he had no idea as to the 21 stops. I said my ticket included Arlington - you would think he would have seen it when he scanned it. He said well stops 8 and 9 are closed so you need to get off at 7 and walk quite a ways to take another bus…not to mention it was very hard to find the stops,. We started at their main center thinking we can take the bus straight through and then on the next round get off where we wanted. . We waited 30 minutes there for the bus to leave only to go one stop with a tour guide that talked so fast we could not understand him, we were told that we had to change buses to continue. We then waited 20 minutes for that next bus to leave. After two stops we just got off. We realized we had spent more time waiting then in the bus. It was not only a complete waste of money but also a complete waste of time! We did take two different tours on our trip to DC which we enjoyed very much. This one was a complete disappointment!

Not impressed or worth the money

Martha_C, Apr 2026
Get there early, check the trolley stop maps for what you most want to see. We should of just rented an electric bike

The drivers were great- knowledgeable, considerate and humorous! We love our Viator tours and will continue to seek them on our family adventures!!

2nd time/ 2nd city- highly recommend

Emily_P, Apr 2026
This was our 2nd time with OTT. We highly recommend it. A great- quick way to get a tour of the city and learn the history. My 9 YO learned quite a bit from the audio tour.

Melissa_S, Apr 2026
I usually love the old town, trolley tour, and I have taken many of them, but this was a very big let down. They said that the trolleys ran every 20 to 30 minutes and I did not find theat to be true to include the first trolley of the dayand when I took one of the last tours of Arlington, I found myself and four other lovely women stuck with no returns over the bridge. We were told that they didn’t realize that there were other others waiting or left behind at the cemetery

We could “hop off” but we couldn’t “hop on” again.

Tommy_A, Apr 2026
We were able to “hop off” at the designated stop, but the busses were too full for the “hop on” to the next attraction. The drivers / tour guides were great, but there were not enough of them. They should run more trams or stop selling tickets when all seats are filled. Because of your unavailability of seats the four of us, including 80-year-old Grampa walked nearly 5 miles despite the $55 EACH we paid to not have to walk!

Fair

Joseph_G, Apr 2026
Can be difficult to hear. Takes lots of time to transfer to and from Arlington. Had to abandon 2nd bus due to mechanical issues

This was a terrible...

Terri_G, Apr 2026
This was a terrible experience. The driver didn’t inform people of the stops and I missed the one place I wanted to go because he didn’t let us know we had to get off and change buses. He didn’t scan my ticket nor give us a map. After we got off at the last stop we complained to the operators of the Hop on Hop off and they told me to ask for a refund. I submitted the request for just 50% of my money back and was told no. Will never use this site again.

The Only Way to Check Out the City

DawnMarie_R, Apr 2026
It was so easy to navigate the city alone. Each driver was so knowledgeable and sooooo entertaining! The trollies were frequent. I never waited longer than 10 minutes for a pick up. The stops were easy to find. Just a lovely day! I recommend everyone visiting a new city, jump on the bus and plan to go back to the attractions that interest you.

Tour-pass/ground control-fail

Wendy_C, Apr 2026
The bus/tour was great with pick up/drop off locations. Took you to all the hi-lites of DC. Problem-crowd control- there is no way drivers can take care of ground control. Viator should have workers at every scheduled stop to take care of this. There was approximately 20 ppl waiting for hop on hop off at Lincoln center when another bus/trolley stopped ahead of them and most all from that trolley got off and proceeded directly to the hop on as we stood and waited and then we had to stand and wait yet again. Last pick up was 4pm, we finally got on, thinking they would do another loop just to drop ppl off-NO! Thankfully our driver found a bus that would take us to where we needed to go and the new driver then dropped us off AND proceeded to pick up others! That driver was an angel as 1 in our party absolutely could not walk to where we needed to be. Ppl with walkers, heat, elderly no benches available to sit. Hop on hop off seriously needs to address this problem. Would I book them again, absolutely! But a ground control/ticket sales person at every stop would be very much appreciated.

john_c, Mar 2026
We were dropped off at the capital and a bus didn’t return for over an hour. Walked to another bus and the driver didn’t even apologize

Good info; slow pickup

Cynthia_H, Mar 2026
Your buses are slow to pick up at the bus sites. We had to wait an hour!!! otherwise, your drivers were friendly and informative .

Great ride and very knowledgeable drivers

Judith_Q, Mar 2026
Great way to see Washington and become familiar with what you are interested in exploring. Multiple stops during ride, so when you see something you like, hop off! Hop back on when you want to see something else!

It’s a wonderful tour Just know to go to Arlington you get off in stop 10 and board the Arlington trolly…

Washington dc hop on hop off

Michele_S, Mar 2026
The drivers are terrific but the traffic and the gatherings make it difficult for the busses to get around to all the stops.

Great tour and guides are excellent, but watch out for official closures.

Julia_B, Mar 2026
The tour guides around the Washington DC loop were awesome. The guide and bus to and from Arlington were not. It was hard to understand them as well as connect for return to DC loop. It was also difficult to catch the DC shuttle as the meeting point was moved due to President/cia event at Union Station. Luckily, I was able to find # to call Hop On to find where to meet at 2nd stop. Also, some of the stops were not available due to Cherry Blossom Festival. (Not your fault, but this was frustrating).

Traffic and cold

Holly_W, Mar 2026
The drivers were great. We had 2 drivers. Joe mo was the best. We never made it to Arlington Cemetery due to roads being closed.we couldn’t get to the transfer bus. Joe handled the situation the best he could. I love this company taken it in several cities and would always recommend it. Next time in DC I will come during a slower time. The first bus we were on had ALL the windows open it was 45 out. We got off just to warm up.

Should have been much better

David_H, Mar 2026
Guides great. There were a lot of disruptions because of crowds so we lost half a day. Stops were skipped. Arlington/Lincoln was a major mess. People didn’t get picked up timely. I have used this many times and this was the worst experience-did not even see 2/3 of what we hoped to- no response to refund request or credit for another day.

Great Time

Phenomenal way to start your visit!

Dawn_M, Mar 2026
Had 2 days. Can't walk fast enough to see everything. Hopped om and learned more in 3hrs then I did in 2 days. Will definitely be back to finish our tour and stop everywhere!

Adelle_T, Mar 2026
Have lots of cash as tipping the driver every time you get off adds up fast. If you get off a stop you have to wait a half hour to get back on so there isn’t time to do the whole tour. We got stuck in Arlington and had to get an uber back to the city. The drivers were all super friendly and knowledgeable. I liked the parts of the tour we were able to do.
