How to contact/locate our Tour Guide on day of travel?

Tour Guides wear blue name badges that say "Unscripted" and the guide’s name. Guides will arrive at the meeting point 20-30 minutes prior to the tour start time to check guests in. Our guides will text travelers ~1 hour before tour start time so that you may have access to their work number on the day of travel if needed.

Which items are prohibited from the U.S. Capitol

The following items are strictly prohibited in the US Capitol: • Liquid, including water • Food or beverages of any kind, including fruit and unopened packaged food • Aerosol containers • Non-aerosol spray (Prescriptions for medical needs are permitted.) • Any pointed object, e.g. knitting needles and letter openers (Pens and pencils are permitted.) • Any bag larger than 18" wide x 14" high x 8.5" deep • Electric stun guns, martial arts weapons or devices • Guns, replica guns, ammunition, and fireworks • Knives of any size • Mace and pepper spray • Razors and box cutters

Where is the closest Metro stop for this tour?

Closest Metro stop: Capitol South (Orange/Blue/Silver Lines) - Exit station using main exit, walk approximately two blocks north on First Street SE. Alternative Stop: Union Station (Red Line) - .5 miles

Is there Parking available?

The US Capitol and its surrounding complex are in a secure federal operation area and nearby parking is highly restricted. The nearest public parking is located at Union Station approximately .5 mile from meeting location. Alternative modes of transportation are highly encouraged.

Are there wheelchairs available for use?

Wheelchairs are available to borrow at both the Capitol Visitor Center and the Library of Congress. Guests will need a photo ID to check them out and they cannot be brought between buildings. Guides and concierges can assist with this process but cannot push guests or use their ID to borrow the wheelchair for the guest.

The tour guide was excellent. They provide you with a lot of historical knowledge and are very friendly. They are happy to answer any questions. You get to see a lot with both the Capitol building and the Library of Congress. Tour lasted the full 3 hours and provides excellent value for money. Fully recommend.

Great tour for a history lesson and to get a glimpse of what your elected representatives are supposed to be doing. They should be required to watch the short historical video every day before they go to work. The library of congress was unbelievable and the architecture is so beautiful. Our tour guide Shane was great. Very knowledgeable and obviously loves this city and his job. Recommend this tour for anyone that wants a great lesson or reminder of how our government is supposed to work on our behalf.

Our guide (James Malone) was extremely knowledgeable and prepared. Went out of his way to be helpful. Great way to see the Capitol, the Library of Congress (amazing) and take in both history and gain a better understanding of how Congress works. James suggested we follow up by visiting our Senator’s office to ask for a pass to view a Senate session. We did that and an aide took us through the congressional tunnels, leading to a seat in the balcony to listen as Senators advocated for their issues or state concerns. Many thanks to Sen. Markey’s staff! They made our day even better.

Even with the less than desirable weather, she brought energy and enthusiasm with every stop on the tour. Her knowledge of the tour areas, monuments and some extras were really impressive!
