What To Expect
When you arrive at the Fisherman’s Wharf meeting point to pick up your bike, a staff member provides you with a safety orientation so that you feel comfortable with your new ride.
Here, you can also familiarize yourself with some of the city’s numerous cycling routes. A helmet, bike lock, bike bell and rear rack (along with a bungee cord for securing backpacks) are all provided, as well as a city map complete with layouts of San Francisco cycling routes.
Once you’re all geared up, it’s time to start exploring. Leaving from Fisherman’s Wharf, you can follow a mostly flat route that meanders along San Francisco Bay into Fort Mason, continuing through the Marina and into the Presidio, where you reach historic Fort Point.
From here, it’s an upward (though well worth it) climb to the Golden Gate Bridge, which offers fantastic views of the San Francisco skyline, as well as Alcatraz and Angel Island. Once across the bridge, enjoy a downhill roll into Sausalito, a lovely seaside town. You can also continue on into Tiburon or Mill Valley, home to some of California’s iconic redwood trees. For your return trip, choose between the Golden Gate Bridge or a scenic ferry ride from either Sausalito or Tiburon.
Feel free to continue exploring on your own for as long as your chosen rental duration allows. There’s plenty to see, from San Francisco’s vibrant North Beach neighborhood to the Mission District, where a burrito stop is definitely in order. Afterwards, return your bike to the same location where you picked it up.

They should dress for the weather. It was clod and windy. Biking o the Golden Gate was an amazing experience and the view of the area was breathtaking.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Donna, we agree, the views are definitely breathtaking! Sounds like you experienced some of our San Francisco micro-climates, too.

Great experience start to finish. The staff were friendly and efficient. We rode across the GGB and took the ferry back to SF. It was a great way to see Sausalito and SF.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thanks for the great feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the ride across the Golden Gate Bridge and the ferry back — such a fantastic way to see both Sausalito and San Francisco.
We appreciate your kind words about our team and hope to see you again for another great adventure!
Happy cycling!

The overall experience with Blazing Saddles Bike was great!
Prices were really ok, the employees there took very good care of us and paid attention to our personal needs.
The bikes were big, though really light to ride on.

This company is great. I rented an e bike for the day and even though I was nervous having never been on one, the staff was great at giving all the instructions I needed. They even changed the seat to a softer one so I would be more comfortable. I rode the bike from blazing saddles down to fort point, across the Golden Gate Bridge to the marine mammal center, and then to the ferry in Sausalito and the battery was still half charged. That was a concern of mine being I let the bike do a lot (most 😊) of the work. Blazing Saddles even gives you a ticket for the ferry when you pick up the bike, which I appreciated. One less thing for me to worry about and probably a very good idea in the busy season. I highly recommend the ferry ride as it brings you right next to Alcatraz and it gives you another perspective of San Francisco. San Francisco is very bike friendly and I always felt safe. Highly recommend this company and this way of seeing San Francisco.

Janet, thanks for your great comments about your experience with us. We appreciate your recommendation.

Quality of the bikes—>very good quality
Flexibiliteit. You could go wherever you wanted to go. Great to have the Sausalito ferry ticket available, although we did not use it.
Arthur_D, May 2024

Response from Host, May 2024

Erik_P, Jul 2023
Perfect setup! Nice people handing out and adjusting the bikes. They were taking good care of us in all ways. It is a fantastic ride to Sausalito and we were provided with ferry tickets for the return to SF. All good, except for the extremely rude crew at the ferry.

Great experience as always, very efficient service and always good quality bikes.

An excellent day out with a very easily followed route.

San Francisco is a great place to rent a bike. Blazing Saddles locations are spread thoughout the city and renting a bike over there is a good choice. The bikes are well maintained and the instructions are clear. Remember that some of the hills in San Francisco are really steep. I would recommend taking the beginner/intermediate routes to avoid shortness of breath before reaching the Golden Gate Bridge. Sausalito and Tiburon are great places to visit and well worth your time. Enjoy better views, but also really steep climbs, during the intermediate/advanced routes.

Une super journée en famille pour parcourir San Francisco son pont et Sausalito
A faire sans hésitation

Über die Bridge nach Sausalitos, zurück über die Bridge zur Lombard Street und abwärts Richtung Blazing Saddles Bike Rentals.
Helle_R, May 2023
En fantastisk flot tur. Gør jer selv den tjeneste at køre en tur på loope trail ud til fyrtårnet lige efter broen og derefter til salolito og med færgen hjem. I skal ikke være bange for bakkerne, hvis I bare lejer en el cykel.
Response from Host, May 2023
Hi Helle,
I'm assuming "fantastisk flot tur" translates loosely to "fantastic tour", so we're glad you enjoyed your guided tour!
