This tour was absolutely incredible. Our tour guide Eleanor was amazing in explaining each detail of the Saint Peter Basilica and the Sistine Chapel and gave extensive knowledge on each thing about its history and the background as well as the artist. Along with all the knowledge she was also able to keep us engaged the whole 3 hours. I would definitely recommend this tour and especially Eleanor.

Given that it is a Jubilee year, the Vatican is understandably crowded. However, our guide was wonderful at navigating the crowds and giving us time to enjoy the sights. She was very knowledgeable and had a good pace to the tour. We enjoyed this thoroughly.

Itinerary
Meet your guide and group outside the Vatican Museums and head inside via a reserved entranceway that bypasses most entrance lines. Avoiding any lingering, you’ll start exploring sooner, going straight to the highlights with a guide who knows them well.
With an audio guide to hear the commentary clearly, you’ll pass through art-bedecked rooms such as the Gallery of the Maps, the Pinecone Courtyard, and the Sistine Chapel, where “The Creation of Adam” and “The Last Judgement” beckon. Michelangelo’s striking Renaissance frescoes bear testament to the artist’s genius, and you’ll learn about the man himself before you enter the chapel, as talking isn’t permitted inside.
Follow your guide into St. Peter’s Basilica, once again bypassing the crowds. After getting the lowdown on the church’s religious significance and artistic treasures, your tour ends here. However, you can linger inside, or admire Bernini’s colonnades in St. Peter’s Square.

On Wednesdays, due to the Papal Audiences, access to St Peter's Basilica is not possible in the morning.
Please note all participant names and date of birth are required at the time of booking in order to join this tour. If we do not receive this information, we will cancel the booking. The guide was very knowledgeable but spoke as she was walking away from us and with the number of people there it was hard to hear at times. All in all a fine tour.

She was very detailed about the Vatican ans Sistine chapel.
Nice tour
KrysAnn_S, Sep 2025
The basilica was canceled on us because the pope was doing a pilgrims mass. The museums were interested but our tour guide was a litttle long winded on many things losing our attention. Sistine chapel was amazing.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re glad you enjoyed the museums and found the Sistine Chapel amazing, though we’re sorry to hear the guiding style did not fully meet your expectations.
Regarding St. Peter’s Basilica, we regret the disappointment caused by its closure. On Wednesday mornings, the Basilica may be closed to the public due to the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square, and we advise customers who wish to visit the Basilica to plan for another day. Please note that St. Peter’s Basilica is also subject to last-minute closures for religious ceremonies, which are unfortunately beyond our control.
We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again on another tour in the future.
Great Expereince!

Vatican tour
Salvador_G, Sep 2025
I had a wonderful time with this tour. Our tour guide Alessandra helped us make it inside the Vatican as swift as possible considering how hectic the entrance can be. In this tour you’ll be able to take a shortcut to get you to the Sistine chapel and another for Saint Peter’s Basilica. It’s a nice detail considering how many people visit the Vatican everyday. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and patient with everyone. Highly recommend.

Bret_B, Aug 2025
It was nice to have skipped the lines and have gotten some special entrances where only the guided tours could go. I was surprised how crowded it was even with an 8am tour, though our guide said it was not crowded from her perspective.
The tour itself was nice, it was a little hard to hear at times because of all the people. Not the guides fault it was just loud even with a headset.
There was a little information overload, so hard to take in all of it when you’re just ushering through each part. Would’ve liked some more anecdotal stories (for example we overhead another guide saying that Michelangelo had a self portrait in the corner of Sistine chapel, which was interesting) but overall she was very knowledgeable.

For Wednesday bookings more clarity upfront on limitations visiting St. Peter’s basilica (rather than small print)
Expensive disappointment
Pam_F, Aug 2025
Confusing messages. Original plan was to tour on Tuesday evening. That was canceled by the tour operator. I then rescheduled for Wednesday morning. However, all the subsequent tickets and info was in regards to the original Tuesday night tour. When we called we were assured that we scheduled for Wednesday, but nothing showed up on my email confirming Wednesday. Long story short we didn’t get the tour but they got our money. We emailed the company to no avail.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Dear Pam_F,
Thank you for the review.
I am sorry to hear about these issues with the rescheduling of your tour.
We would be happy to investigate further, should you contact us directly with a booking reference number.

Great tour/guide

We had a great guide. She made sure that there was no one skipping into the security line. Once inside she was full of knowledge about the art and the basilica. She was very friendly and made the entire tour enjoyable.

It was a good tour but water options along the way would have been good. The tour guide seemed very nice. The small bag rule didn’t apply to everyone because I saw backpacks. We got caught in the rain during the meet up so I would have rather had a backpack with a poncho or umbrella instead of having to downsize my bag.

I’m not catholic but the Vatican was still beautiful and fascinating. I could have spent quite a bit of time in the map room if it were allowed. Our tour guide was lovely and we had a great time.
Very good tour

Great tour, included helpful information about St. Peter’s. our guide managed the group through the crowd and gave helpful instructions to keep us together.
Excellent tour! Perfect time to go!
Alyssa_H, Jul 2025
Our tour guide was EXCELLENT! He made sure we saw all the highlights of the Vatican and was so knowledgeable about the history. He was funny and entertaining. It was perfect time to go, as less crowds. A little rushed at the end but our guide made sure we saw everything. He even gave us tips for when to see St Peter’s Basilica at the best time. Wish we had him along for every tour!
Do it yourself

Not worth the money . Evening tour was just a reg tix . Could have done by self . And no st peters . The tour guild ditched us
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Dear Edward_B, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your evening tour did not meet your expectations and that you felt it did not provide additional value beyond a standard admission ticket. St. Peter's is not included in the evening tours as it is already closed at that time, the tour inly includes the Museums and Sistine Chapel at that time as mentioned online in the inclusions. Your feedback helps us improve, and we appreciate your honesty.
Great experience

Awesome Vatican tour
Lisa_D, Jun 2025
An organized, wonderful way to see the Vatican and all its beauty. Had a terrific time learning about all the details as well!
Delayed, difficult to understand
Dana_P, Jun 2025
Our guide was not organized.it seemed as though our reservation had difficulty and we were delayed 1 hour and that impeded our ability to finish the tour.
We could not understand her English. We did not use our head set since we could not understand.
She gave no time for questions since we were behind on time since she was not organized.
At the end of the tour she did not wait for the entire group to proceed. Again, we were late.
Response from Host, Jun 2025
Hello Dana_P,
Thank you for reviewing your experience. We regret that your tour started late and that you had trouble understanding the guide.
Delays at the Vatican can happen during peak hours, especially when reservation slots are adjusted onsite. However, the tour should never feel disorganized, and we’ll be following up internally regarding the check-in and headset usage. Your feedback on communication is particularly helpful as we aim to provide world-class narration from fluent, professional guides.
If you’d like to provide your booking reference, we’d be happy to follow up further. We truly appreciate your time and candor.
Best regards,
The City Wonders Team

Nice interesting tour, i would recommend it to do it any other day except Wednesday, since the St. Peter’s Basilica will be closed in the morning because the Pope is doing a prayer inside.
Other than that, it is a nice informative tour.
Highly recommend it.
Great tour!
Breann_H, May 2025
The tour was a great way to see inscribe sights and our guide was super informative! It was a swift and easy way to see so much history in a short trip to Italy.
The directions on how to get there could’ve been better. The initial location in the app was wrong, and it wasn’t until I reached out we were given the accurate place to meet. All worked out eventually but wasn’t the best start to the adventure.

Richard_H, May 2025
Too many people, it is difficult to stay with the guide. Our guide was not fluent in English and it took too much time for her to explain what we were seeing.
Sad that Catholic tourist sites dont treat the visiters like Christ would have. Kindly and courteously
Barbara_K, May 2025
We felt very rushed. The tour guide was great. The cystine chaple was only 15 minute and there were so many people that it was actually dangerous. The staff at these places were rude and inconsiderate. I felt like cattle being herded to slaughter several time.
