Arena Floor access at the Colosseum is not included in a standard ticket—this group tour upgrades the visit to include the level where gladiatorial combat and animal fights took place. - Colosseum admission is free on the first Sunday of each month. Tours are discounted on these days.

Being an experienced traveler, I have come to prefer small group tours. This particular tour of 5 plus the tour guide was perfect for my 15 year old son who was a first time visitor to the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill! Our tour guide, Kopal, was top notch and one of the best guides I've had. She was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. She knew her stuff. She was not reading from a script and was not thrown off by questions. She was patient and allowed our group to move at a pace that was perfect for capturing the memories!! I highly recommend Kopal and her expertise!!

Our guide was kind but very difficult to understand. His stories and information about the Colosseum jumped all over. It unfortunately didn't hold our attention. We opted out of the tour a bit over half way through due to the heat.

Get a water bottle to take along! It was hot!! Our guide Emilio was amazing! He has a wealth of information! This history is his passion!

Absolutely recommend this tour. Daniele was a fantastic guide, who was extremely knowledgable and moved just at the right pace. We all learnt so much and saw so much more than we would have on our own. The Arena visit was a real highlight and discovering how everything beneath the floor worked was fascinating. The meeting point was really easy to find and lots of reminders were send to us ahead of the tour.

If you are on time, the tour company will make you wait for those who are not. We waited 10 minutes on a couple of late people and then the tour ended 7 minutes early. The guide, Daniele, was very knowledgeable but asked us more than once why we booked an express tour with only the arena floor. When I explained it was a last minute booking because another tour I’d booked was cancelled, he seemed annoyed. My family didn’t feel all of this, but I did. He knew a lot about the Colosseo and Forum. I’d go again, but I’d probably just book tickets and no tour, personally.

Great tour guide. Removing a star just for the initial meeting point experience unrelated to the tour guide. They didn’t seem organized and it delayed things a bit. Once we got started we really enjoyed!

If you get lucky enough to get Ale as your guide then woo hoo. She was knowledgeable, energetic and fun. Couldn’t have asked for better. Unfortunately, they messed up her schedule and she was only able to do the Colosseum portion but she went out of her way to make sure we got tickets and access to the whole tour. I’d recommend her without reservation! Bravo!

Our guide Daniel was incredible. It was obvious he was very knowledgeable of everything we toured. He gave ample time to explore and take a few pictures as needed. He showed us many things that would be missed without a well informed guide. I really enjoyed our tour. Thank you.

With this or any tour you want to be sure they have guaranteed access times with no wait except for the security screening. Go early because lines will be big anyway and venues will be crowded during peak times of year. Bring frozen water in summer because it will melt quickly. Selfie stick may help you with better photos over people. Our tour got changed and we did get another hour but lost the Arena floor access for some reason but didn’t want to lose out on going at all since it was last minute.

Excellent tour guide. It's very hot and uneven surfaces so wear good shoes. Guide was very knowledgeable and learned so much about the history of Rome.

We booked the tour, and while we did get the Colosseum and Arena portion, we did not receive entry to the Forum and Palatine Hill. We were told to go back to where we started the tour, and when we did, no one was there. We waited over an hour with several other people who had the same issue and had been told the same thing. We all had to call the agency, only to be told that the Forum and Palatine Hill were not included—even though our reservation and tickets clearly stated that they were.
We were then told to reach out to Viator, as the agency could not help. We ended up having to buy another set of tickets on the spot. About three hours later, someone from the agency finally reached out via text through the app, apologized, and sent the tickets. But at that point it was useless, since we had already purchased new ones. They issued a partial refund, but in my opinion it did not correspond to what we missed or the inconvenience caused.

The Colosseum tour was physically brief. Lots of info but not much actual touring of the site.

What a great and informative tour not only of the Colloseum, but also the beautiful Palatine Hill and the Forum. A lot of walking up and down hills and stairs so not for everyone. Our tour guide was wonderful.

Our guild, Polina from Carpe Diem tours, gave us so much more information than we could have imagined. Without her guided explanations we would have just stood there and stared at the structure without knowing what we were looking at. She added book photos of what the collesium would have looked like in Roman times, which allowed us to visualize how the structure ran like a business. Her personality was entertaining which added to the day. 3 hours flew by and she left us with memories that will last a lifetime. The Viator app was great and allowed us to communicate with our guide to find her at our meeting spot. Very convenient!

Guide Paolo was great. He was an anthropologist and really knows the value of these sites. He really loves people and doing these tours. Many times, he was helping other tourists navigate the entrance/exits. Lovely human being and one of our fav guides we had on any tour. Wish we had more time at the Colosseum, but it was amazing.
