Itinerary
Meet your local guide at the tour office to enter the Vatican Museums. Then, with your skip-the-line ticket, step inside to start your Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour. Follow your guide, listening to tales of saintliness and scandal, and learn about the Vatican’s place as one of the holiest sites in Christendom.
Italian art flourished in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, and the Vatican popes put together one of the world’s largest collections of private art with frescos, paintings, sculptures, and treasure. See the highlights as you walk through galleries such as Raphael’s Rooms, and hear stories behind works such as the 'School of Athens'—a piece that features images of Michelangelo and Raphael himself.
Pass through halls such as the Gallery of the Masks and Gallery of the Maps. Then, make your way into the Sistine Chapel. A sacred spot and the private papal chapel, the Sistine Chapel is also renowned for its Michelangelo frescoes—'The Last Judgement' and 'The Creation of Adam.'
Finish up at St. Peter's Basilica, where you can see more works of art like "Pietà" and rub the toes of St. Peter for good luck.

Relatively large group, but we had headphones so we could hear well. It was a bit hard to ask questions because it was so busy, but she was full of knowledge and kept us informed throughout.

It was a looooong tour! The guide who was very sweet was very difficult to understand. It took two hours for us to make it to the Sistine chapel where we stayed about 10 minutes then we walked basilica on our own it was not guided
Pasquale_S, Aug 2026
Very knowledgeable guide
Would be better if you could tour some of the actual museums
Most were bypassed

Our Ubers kept getting cancelled so we were late, obviously not the companies fault, but we had no way to contact anyone. I sent messages through the Viator app bc I wasn’t provided a phone number or email to contact anyone. At the pickup point they weren’t able to let us know who the guide was or how to find/contact them either. We did the tour without the guide. If this happens, your printed ticket from the pickup spot doesn’t have the basilica ticket. You have to explain at the gate and they’ll let you know the correct line to enter. I truly wish the company made an easy way to contact the guide so we could have caught up with them. Unfortunately, I have no review for the tour itself

Amazing tour! Antonio was hands down the best guide ever! Extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Has worked for 25 years as a tour guide so knew all the ins and outs of Vatican City. Highly recommend this tour!

You don't have to be catholic, you don't need to religious to truely be awed by the sites of these places. From La Pieta, to the reswt of St. Peters Basillica, to the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel to Michealangelo's The last Judgement. I would suggest doing some research into this painting, IMO it made seeing it much more enjoyable. There are no pictures allowed in the sistine Chapel so be prepared. While we were in St. Peter's there was a mass going on, which was very cool to see.

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome! Visiting the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica with a knowledgeable guide made the experience so much more meaningful. The guide shared fascinating history, artwork, and stories that we never would have appreciated on our own.
The skip-the-line access was absolutely worth it, especially during the busy summer season. The Vatican Museums are breathtaking, the Sistine Chapel is truly awe-inspiring, and walking into St. Peter’s Basilica was an unforgettable moment.
The tour was well organized, moved at a comfortable pace, and gave us plenty of time to take in the incredible sights. Be prepared for a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes, but it’s well worth it.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome for the first time or anyone wanting a deeper understanding of these incredible landmarks. It was an unforgettable experience!

Great experience using Viator. Our tour guide was excellent and we are glad we chose Viator to book our tour.
Deborah_S, Jul 2026
It's a great tour but you need to expect huge crowds. There are also alot of stairs. I expected stairs but not STAIRS.
It is also very hot in the summer.
Terri_M, Jul 2026
Started out ok. Our guide was not easy to understand but what created some issues is his poor communication on where to meet after the Sistine Chapel. We all heard the time but unclear where to meet. He lost 1/2 of the group. We had head sets and he could have said something in it or stayed close by. We could not go out the tour guide Sistine chapel exit as we had no tour guide. Not did he bother to grab us. We missed out on entry into St. Peter’s Basilica. We would be in non-tour lines. You go there for the Sistine Chapel & St. Peter’s not so much the Vatican museum. Disappointing!!

I will travel guide by the name of Marco was absolutely intelligent informative spoke English very well. Had a great sense of humor and was a wealth of knowledge.
Wayne_H, Jun 2026
Very well organised tour informative guide would have given 5 stars but guide asked for donations after tour . Bit off-putting when you have already paid so much for the tour.
Sandy_B, Jun 2026
Difficult to understand your guide. Happy we were able to see Vatican and chapel , but the amount of people being pushed through each area was overwhelming and took away from the experience. Even with a headset it was hard to hear and understand what was being said.
Amy_H, Jun 2026
Our guide read the room very well and appreciated the need for a water break. She was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job of making sure we were out in front of the crowds. Excellent tour.
Melisha_S, Jun 2026
Words are hard to describe the tour! You could tour the Vatican for years and not see everything. The tour host was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, unfortunately I don’t remember the name. Extremely hot visiting, 92 degrees. But so worth taking a tour.
Kevin_R, Jun 2026
Unfortunately, I was delayed at the Rome Airport for 2 hours upon arrival at the Entry/Exit System procedure and was unable to attend my scheduled experience. Be aware of these delay possibilities and book with extra time in order to accommodate your needs.
Giovanni_P, Jun 2026
Wear comfortable shoes! Lots of walking and stairs. Our guide, Georgia, was very knowledgeable and did a terrific job explaining every gallery and it's treasures.
Maria_T, Jun 2026
Great experience, guide very knowledgeable. I highly recommend for the full tour of the Museums, Sistine Chapel and Basilica
yaping_k, Jun 2026
Tour guide lady is very friendly professional knowledgeable. She is very patient helpful happy guide
Ruben_R, Jun 2026
The tour is long but worth it. A lot depends on the tour guide and how in depth they go on each stop throughout the tour.
Carla_S, May 2026
Our tour was very informative, almost too informative. It was hard to absorb all the history. I recommend this tour. It was really great.
kim_j, May 2026
I highly recommend this tour at the Vatican to simply Skip the Line! Wow was shocked to see the ticket/entry line wrapped around the block. We were told that line can be 2-3 hours waiting in the hot sun. With this tour we waited for a short time just to get thru security and we were in.
The tour office was easy to find to start our day. Just across the street from the Vatican. We had a knowledgeable guide that showed us all the highlights in the museum. There is a lot to see! We went thru the museum and then into the Sistine Chapel. All was incredible! We went right from there into St. Peter’s Basilica without any delay. The tour ends there so you have lots of time to explore at your leisure and stay as long as needed. I pre booked a separate ticket for the lift/walk up into the Dome. Guide showed us where we could access that and recommended we do it first as there was no line for the lift when we arrived. We really enjoyed our tour and the whole day was a great experience. Highly recommend!
Riya_S, May 2026
The guided tour is extremely useful to skip the lines and crowds but the content felt like a history lesson rather than an engaging tour
Daniel_B, May 2026
The tour was very informative, but in order to really take everything in, a smaller group would have been nicer. In addition, 3 hours is really not enough time to see and look at everything. The best part of this tour is the skip the line access and the ability to get into St Peter’s Basilica right after the Sistine Chapel. It was also a bit difficult to understand the guide’s English at times.
Carol_O, May 2026
Everything was wonderful. More walking than expected but well worth it. Guide was easy to understand and very knowledgeable
Michael_R, May 2026
Wonderful tour of Vatican City. Our guide, Olga was very knowledgeable & shared many facts about the history. Very crowded, but Olga managed to keep us all together.
Isabel_D, May 2026
Joaquina was our tour guide and she was very thorough in her explanation. She was amazing and gave us very detailed information.
