Would definitely sail again!

Amy_B, Sep 2026
We had a great time. Even though wind was strong, the captain went over to a cove so we could eat and the dancers could do the hula. The food was very good and do NOT MISS the cheesecake. We've never had anything like it!!! Would definitely sail again. John 3:16-17

Sunset Cruise

nbfarrell, Sep 2026
VIATOR provided the wrong time to arrive, and very poor instructions for where to go and how to get there. Also, it didn’t help that we arrived a half hour too early, so there were only a few other people milling around wondering where to go also. Experience was ok. The food was good, dessert excellent. The staff was nice and friendly and did a good job. They said the boat was designed to hold twice as many people as were on it the night we went, but I don’t know how that’s possible. The only place to sit is on the top deck and it’s VERY windy up there. There certainly was not enough room for everyone on the boat to be seated on the top deck comfortably. The benches up top have a small shelf to put your food (and cup holders otherwise it would be impossible to have a drink). The wind is so bad you have to hang on to everything. However, I think that’s typical-it is generally windy. The sun sets behind another island, so you don’t see the sun hit the water.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Aloha, Sounds like your evening started poorly because you arrived early and had to wait 30 minutes to board the boat. It’s unfortunate that you must not have read the confirmation with very thorough instructions we email all of our guests, including those who book through a third party such as Viator? Had you read the email confirmation that we send twice, once when we receive your booking details and again 24 hours before the event, you would have found very detailed and important information regarding the time to meet, what time the vessel departs and returns, and where to park. We even include an aerial photo of the harbor and parking area, with arrows and notes showing these same details to make it easier for you. We encourage folks to take the time to read our email confirmation, so that you know where to meet and when to be there, along with other useful information to start your evening off on the right footing. Our flagship Pride of Maui is Coast Guard certified for 149 passengers. The upper deck is certified for 100 guests with seating for 100 guests, and tables, with built-in cup holders, so you do not have to tend to your beverage while upstairs on the observation deck. We limit the number of guests we book to 60% of our Coast Guard capacity so our guests have plenty of room. There is seating and standing areas in the main cabin, including a large hardwood bar, and high top counters where guests who prefer a cocktail social environment mingle. Thus, creating two environments aboard our vessel. Most of our guests prefer to be upstairs on the sprawling observation deck enjoying the views and entertainment. Some love to be downstairs seated on the cushioned benches, or mingling at the bar and other high top tables. There are evenings when the trade winds are brisk, which is why the captain navigates to a protected cove for food service, on those evenings. To state that the wind is generally as windy as you describe is inaccurate. The sunsets on Maui are spectacular, whether setting on the horizon as it does most of the year, or a little farther west behind the beautiful island of Lanai.

Disappointed

Albert_L, Aug 2026
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with this boat company. Due to my grandson’s autism and his inability to comfortably participate in the trip, we were unable to proceed as planned. I explained the situation and requested a full refund, hoping the company would show some understanding and compassion regarding his disability. Unfortunately, the company refused to provide a full refund. I understand that businesses have cancellation policies, but I believe situations involving a child with special needs and a disability should be handled with greater sensitivity and consideration. What disappointed me most was the lack of flexibility and empathy. Families traveling with children who have autism can face unexpected challenges that are beyond their control. I hope this company will reconsider how it handles these situations in the future and show more compassion toward customers and families with special needs.

Response from Host, Sep 2026

Aloha and Mahalo for reaching out. Of course we have compassion for all of our guests and do understand that there are circumstances which make it challenging at times for our guests to participate as planned. That is why we offered you a significant refund. We believe it is not unreasonable to retain a portion of your booking fee to cover a portion of our loss. You are correct, that a business has policies to protect it from losses due to last minute cancellations, or as in your case are a no show. We consider each situation based upon the individual circumstances which is why despite the fact that you no showed and did not communicate with us to let us know why, until days after the event, we did provide you with a generous refund, having taken into consideration the circumstances for your inability to join us.

Couldn't make the event...

Richard_J, Aug 2026
Couldn't make the event because of a traffic delay, but they are giving us a refund. We will book it next time.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

This is perplexing. We refunded you in full because you were delayed by a traffic jam, due to an accident on the road. You notified us of the accident, and we offered you the opportunity to join us another evening, or a full refund. I understand that you were disappointed you were unable to reschedule though I do not get why you gave us 3-stars considering we refunded you.

Beautiful cruise. Very friendly staff and good eats and drinks. A nice experience for friends or family

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Our Maui Sunset Dinner Cruise with live Hawaiian music and hula is an opportunity to experience the culture of the islands, expressed through song and dance. Your dinner is prepared with care in our own kitchen located minutes from the harbor. Chef Tania's fall off the bone guava glazed baby back ribs are absolutely delicious. Paired with Asian citron chicken, fresh vegetables and oven roasted potatoes, there is plenty of delicious food to enjoy. The lilikoi / mango cheesecake paired with your favorite wine is a nice finish. we are happy that you had a beautiful cruise.

Highly recommend

Mark_D, Aug 2026
They do a great job adhering ti their schedule, make sure you do the same! The ribs were awesome, as was the cheese cake.

Response from Host, Aug 2026

Glad you loved your Maui Sunset Dinner Cruise with live Hawaiian music and Hula. We prepare your delicious meal in our own kitchen, located minutes from the harbor, following decades of time-tested recipes. Chef Tania's fall off the bone guava glazed baby back ribs are definitely the best! Thank You for highly recommending us.

Great experience 👍 staff...

Rabia_K, Jul 2026
Great experience 👍 staff members are sweet and kind. Very pleasant and lovely performances and overall worth it.

Beautiful sunset

Gloria_T, Jul 2026
Beautiful cruise with cocktails. Chicken, ribs were delicious. The vegetables were not even cooked. Everything else was wonderful. Friendly staff and great dessert.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Glad you had a beautiful sunset, enjoyed our delicious craft cocktails, and though that the chicken and chef Tania's fall off the bone baby back ribs were delicious. We do oven roast the vegetables with fresh garlic, seasoning and EVOO. We like to veggies flavor profiles to come through, which is why we do not roast them until they become soggy. We like a firm and bright texture on the veggies. Our crew truly are exceptional and I appreciate you saying so!

Skip and just do a Luau

Kelly_S, Jul 2026
We tried the sunset cruise since we've done Luau's several times on different trips. The staff and crew were very kind, but the overall experience wasn't great. I realize they cannot control the wind/weather, but it was so incredibly windy, it was hard to enjoy. The musician onboard could use a louder speaker so you can actually hear. We all ate in the downstairs cabin since it was too windy to eat at the top, which made for a crowded and standing dinner service. So if you're looking to decide between the two, I'd go with the Luau. You can eat comfortably at a table and have an overall better experience.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Sorry the conditions were less than ideal. Its not often that we have to contend with the winds you describe, and we do understand that on days / evenings when it does blow like that, its less enjoyable. By the same token, an outdoor luau would be a much different experience in high winds. Were you to compare the dinner cruise on a calm night to a windy outdoor luau you may lean toward the calm evening at sea aboard a spacious and stable yacht as opposed to a windy experience onshore.

First time in Hawaii,...

Yinia_Y, Jul 2026
First time in Hawaii, went with my mom. We loved the food and the drinks. The experience was lovely! Great relaxing experience.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

It is very relaxing indeed, to enjoy an amazing sunset, out on the ocean, aboard our spacious and stable boat, enjoying delicious food, premium bar, with live Hawaiian music, and hula dancers. We are happy that you had a lovely experience.

Great time will recommend others

Christopher_S, Jun 2026
The boat was clean. The food was amazing and the servers and the hula dancers were fantastic. If I had to make one criticism, the gentleman who played great guitar and had a great singing voice, was really quiet so even if you were in the middle to the back of the boat on the top end, you wouldn’t be able to really hear him. It also was a really windy day, so maybe I’m not being fair about it but just to let them know to maybe do like a soundtrack or something.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Mahalo for joining us on the Maui Sunset Dinner Cruise with live Hawaiian music, and hula. I am so happy that you enjoyed the food which we prepare in our own kitchen, minutes from the harbor. The Aloha spirit shared by Kekoa Kepa, and our hula dancers, is a special experience, and we are pleased that you loved the cultural immersion, shared through music. Thanks for bringing up the issues with Kekoa's volume. His amp was acting up that evening, which we replaced the following day.

Mediocre experience

Leo_B, Jun 2026
Great sunset, nice boat. Mediocre food and entertainment. The food was bland and room temperature and the entertainment was boring.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thankfully, there are thousands of other guests who disagree. The food is served hot, we provide a premium open bar, and live entertainment, with Hawaiian music and beautiful hula. Here is a review from another guest who joined this very same sunset cruise. Such a wonderful sunset and dinner cruise. Staff and entertainment (guitarist and hula dancers) were very good. The food was delicious and plentiful the chicken was superb! It was a beautiful night with friendly guests and staff. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience Maui from the water to book with The Pride of Maui tours!!

Pride of Maui dinner cruise

Linda_H, Jun 2026
It was a nice, casual experience. The crew were very nice and the food was good. We lucked out with beautiful weather and a gorgeous sunset (June 9). The wind was a bit wild, so we stayed close to shore making eating dinner easy even though most guests opted to stay down-below out of the gusts. The lone singer and two hula dancers were a nice touch and frankly I enjoyed them more than the full scale luau we attended earlier in our vacation. The drinks were fresh (again MUCH better than our luau) and the food good. There weren't an overwhelming number of food choices, but it was prepared well and plenty of it. Dessert was cheesecake and fruit and again very good. I would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to relax and enjoy the ocean. It was a wonderful way to end our stay in Maui.

The sunset was beautiful. The captain knows exactly where to stop the boat to get maximum view of the sunset.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

The crew on this cruise...

Shelly_H, Jun 2026
The crew on this cruise was amazing! Everyone was extremely friendly. The hula dance was a nice touch. There was also live music. The drinks at the open bar were great. The food was also very yummy. They took good care of us. It was the perfect amount of time for a cruise.

It's a gamble

Amber_J, Jun 2026
If you think you may get motion sick, this is not your dinner cruise. There were about 50 people on our cruise and 6 of them were green and/or vomiting, which makes it hard to enjoy eating dinner if you have any empathy. The dancers were beautiful. The scenery was breathtaking but the food was mediocre. Most people really enjoyed the open bar.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

As with any other vessel, floating on the ocean, exposed to mother nature, there are evenings when the wind and or seas state affect guests who are prone to motion sickness. The crew have remedies that work well for most folks. In the case of our flagship Pride of Maui, she is the largest and most stable Maxi Power Catamaran on Maui, offering more space and stability for guests who are prone to motion sickness. There are many guests who love the food which is plentiful and freshly prepared in our own kitchen just minutes from the harbor. We received two 5-star reviews from guests who attended the cruise on the very evening you joined us. One of these reviews was titled "Great Views and Food". We serve fall off the bone baby back ribs marinated overnight in a pineapple, guava glaze. Tender and juicy shoyu chicken compliments the ribs, and both pair nicely with oven roasted veggies, and caramelized coconut sweet potatoes. Guests enjoy mango lilikoi cheesecake with fresh fruit for dessert.

Amazing time

Sidney_W, Jun 2026
Very lovely we laughed and we ate and we enjoyed the water and waves. 10/10 will hopefully repeat yay

Response from Host, Jun 2026

We are so pleased that we exceeded your expectations on our Maui Sunset Dinner cruise Hawaiian Hula Experience. Mahalo for the 10 out of 10 review!

Hang on to your belongings!

Mark_L, Jun 2026
This was a good cruise. They took us to a view spot in a small cove to see the sunset. Good drinks and tasty food as well. Nice friendly atmosphere. Very windy! Hang onto your belongings.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Yes, this time of the year we do have brisk winds, occasionally. Thankfully, we do have a nice little cove protected from the wind to enjoy your dinner and entertainment. The craft cocktails and ice cold local beers, and nice wines from Cali ,certainly add to the friendly atmosphere. Mahalo for joining us and understanding that mother nature sometimes requires you to hold on to your hat!

The sunset cruise was...

Michael_H, Jun 2026
The sunset cruise was good. Decent food and good entertainment. The only problem we experienced was the time we were to check in. Viator told us to check in in at 4:30 for 5:00 start time and cruise operator said check in was 5:10 for 5:30 start time resulting in myself, my husband, brother and sister-in-law waiting for almost an hour until check in by smelly dock with no where to sit. Get your timing right!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Aloha, I am not sure why you received the wrong check-in time from Viator, and we will look into this. Had you followed our reservation confirmation email and arrived at 5:10 you have waited a mere 10 minutes when we board our guests at 5:20. Always trust the actual operator, or email or ring us up if you are confused by conflicting information.

Peaceful activity

Rochelle_P, Jun 2026
Peaceful and laid back- great activity for end of day or if your energy is low. Do it at the end of your trip (we did). Open bar and food was good. Pretty views, kind staff.

Amazing!

The crew was amazing! Very friendly and fun to talk to and very attentive to the guests. One crew member even got in the water with a guest and helped her learn to snorkel. The snorkeling spots were awesome.

Aloha and Mahalo for joining us aboard the Maui Sunset Dinner Cruise - Hawaiian Hula Experience M glad that you had a wonderful experience despite the windy conditions. Our entertainers are passionate to share the Rick culture of Polynesia through song and beautiful dance. Mahalo for complimenting their performance. Your dinner is freshly prepared in our own kitchen following Chef Tania’s time tested recipes , flavors and pairings. Glad you thought the food was great. Her guava glazed baby back ribs have always been a crowd pleaser. Paired with Polynesian citron shoyu chicken, oven roasted vegetables, and potatoes, with lilikoi cheesecake for dessert, we receive lots of compliments of the hearty and delicious food we serve. Mahalo for sharing your experience.

Not to go sunset cruise

allen_d, May 2026
Hula show was not really a show it was a performance of the girl who cleaned the toilet earlier then prepared the food and danced for one minute. I am not exaggerating I recorded it 3 30 seconds. Food not good chicken was only dark meat not even combination of leg and thigh it was only dry thigh . Baby back rib was ok for $160 pp the could come up with at least better food We had a baby the discrimination of the boat said stroller accessible. Well it wasn’t we had to take the baby out and lift the stroller up to be able to take it over the ramp as the ramp was so narrow a large persons couldn’t even go through. And they didn’t let us take the stroller on the upper deck so the parents didn’t even see the one minute dancer and the horrible boring one man operation singer Overpriced False advertising all over the place about the food and the performances

Sunset Cruise

cdnangle, May 2026
For people with balance issues this may be a tough activity for them. The buffet and bar are on the lower level of the boat. So if you cannot find a place below to sit with your plate and drink, you have to carry it up the stairs to the upper deck. Also the hula dancer had to cancel, they did get a man to sing, but looked forward to hula. But overall it was fun.

Beautiful views, great...

Jeremy_G, May 2026
Beautiful views, great service from crew, surprise dolphin sighting. Music needs an upgrade, need back up hula dancer - ours was unable to make it so that was missing. Also we were told to arrive more than 30 mins earlier than check in.

A nice evening out on the water

Julie_L, May 2026
It was a nice evening and the crew was so friendly. The singer/guitarist provided nice music for the event. The crew members who did the hula and many other duties were really good. The food was just so-so but did not ruin the outing by any means.

Response from Host, May 2026
